SilentSeas
I fail to see why the OP is getting so worked up over something that isn't even game breaking. Suggesting that people shouldn't be allowed to have control of settings just because he disagrees them is quite frankly childish and idiotic. If you don't want to have blips in a match, set up your own game or post in the events section to find like minded players instead of bitching and whining about it. As for blips themselves, I can see why R* included them. Giving players the extra awareness helps to speed up the pace of matches by allowing players to track the opposition and dive into the action with all guns blazing. I'm sure the majority of players would prefer that rather than play Where's Wally: GTA edition and have to waste time searching the city while the opposition hide and camp. JOSEPH X
Stop whining! Blips on is the most popular choice for a reason. I know where you are, you know where I am - let's meet in the middle, go mano y mano, and see who comes out smokin the cigar.
Darkshade12
Why did R* take the ability to turn blips off in Freemode away anyways? Wasn't the option there when the game first came out? (Well i seem to remember there was an option and then R* made an update and took away the ability) Could be wrong but thats what i think i remember. It's elitism. People think their preferences make them a better gamer - and in the case of AA and blips/radar off, that may be true, But they have to push that opinion on everyone else. GTA's multiplayer isn't sh*t - it's HUMAN NATURE that suffers. I'll load up a multiplayer and i'll sort out the settings i want - AA on or off etc. Then itll connect me to a game like that. The truth is, with AA at least, everyone just jumps in the first one they find, then complains AA is on. Blips though, for what i call the casual gamer, are CRUCIAL. Players new to the game, inexperianced, those who simply don't play much, or those who simply lack skill need blips and AA on to help them, OFten they don't WANT to use manual aim or guess work to find their enemy. The map size can make that impossible. GTA MP should have 2 modes. Casual and Hardcore. Casual has AA on, blips on and all the usual stuff. Hardcore has it all off. Usually that'd solve the issue but no, people will still complain, because there is no one in the hardcore mode. Why? Because the majority of people will just be playing a casual, where aiming is auto so they can just play and have a laugh. The problem lies in the people, not the system. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Click here to view my Poetry

I'm not going to argue with you Mokrie because I actually agree with your post. As you rightly said, the problem isn't the game, its the players. But at the same time, there are so called "elitists" out there who whine about the likes of blips and AA simply because they can't adapt to settings that are out of there comfort zone. Sure, I'm all for of AA being removed, but to completely wipe out the blips options would make the game far too unbalanced for the new players. All I can say that is I'm glad that R* doesn't give in to public pressure, because if they did I'm sure we'd be getting a lousy SA rehash with an unbalanced MP and a predictable soundtrack. Mokrie Dela
too true fish. Thats one thing GTA does well and that's to allow the gamer to play the game THEIR way, not someone else's. I hope R* only build on that and not subtract from it. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Click here to view my Poetry

Inked.
Well for starters, your point about "realistic"? Go play real-life for awhile and f*ck off. I like my GTA to be fun, not realistic. The problem with GTA IV's multiplayer isn't even blips or realism, it's a game, it's meant to be fun. The problem is the ammount of modders and turbo's on it that roam freely. If you really want a TMW without blips, do a private game. If you have noone to play with, make an event in the events section and find people who agree. Plus, it's not R*'s fault that players dont want to play with blips off, it's the players choice themselves. I think there's an event by D12 for TMW that has a "Dangerous" Edition, if that doesn't work out, you can always make one and try to recruit people to play it, I for one, would be interested in such an event. None the less, R*'s done nothing wrong, and players are gonna play how they want to. Kick them or leave. Your call. Heard an opp got killed, watch me do my dance. Got a pocket full of bills, watch me do my dance. I just popped a pill, watch me do my dance. Hit that nigga with the steel watch that nigga dance. NGC BemaR
I personally didn't know that so much of you play online on GTA IV online. I personally struggle to find games and when I do about 4/5 people quit within the first 2 mins!!!!!!!! This annoys me. If so many people have similar people why does someone not create an event in the multiplayer event page with these settings so we can all join up and enjoy playing with other sensible adults who don't quit, cheat & complain!!!!! I for one will join the event and I know a few friends that would join up aswell!

StateofMind15
In competitive modes blips, auto-aim, reticule health should be off by default. That way the noobs won't know how to change and the people that like to use TDM for Rping and other things can still be done.
blowtorchrepair
I would like to see THE OPTION to totally remove all data/symbology that distinguishes our playable character from the NPCs in game (no health, armor, gamertag or other graphics) to allow us to blend in completely if we wish. combine this with blips set on none or far and then there will be a slim chance of running into other players, or being stalked by other players and helicopter phags. The only ways we would each be noticible on a MP map then would be by our player customizations and if we are running or driving in a way that stands out from the programmed movements of the rest if the elements in the GTA matrix. It's all about options, folks. There will be days when I just want to run up to fools and empty clips i their faces, and there will be days where I just want to explore the map and peacefully interact with other map explorers as we determine what all is possible in L.S. B Dawg
I'm fine with any blip option. About turbos, they can be easily stopped with the San Andreas shooting system, where tap-shooting doesn't help as much as in IV. About cornershooters, maybe not letting you shoot like you're still way too close to the wall. You will either have to use L1 for the cover system or run out with your full body out. But, the real non-glitching-cheating pussies are those who run for pickups. I'm running towards him, but he's still running for that advantage. I'd rather prefer choosing weapon loadouts before the match starts/after every death. Edited March 19, 2012 by DarkKingBernard
