Whats so funny is that never even heard of the guy before this year and has been signed up longer than me. Also i guess you forgot who found the AGENT screens and info on V that night. First Max Payne sold around 5 million, got almost a 10 from reviewers. Max Payne 2 wasn't as good, and sold around 1-2 million, which isn't really too bad. And with the way they are marketing this one, if it is recieved well there is no reason to belive that it won't match or surpass the sales of the original. Doesnt mean it was bad It was bad for me and alot others GTA IV was a great game.. the only thing bad about it is less features than San andreas (both are really good), but still it was a great game and one of the best this gen it was good for you but me driver 3 was even better than gta 4 Sh*t .. Magic_Al Posted March 15, 2012 Share Posted March 15, 2012 I don't think Rockstar intends for there to be only one major game a year, I just suspect it has been that way because of delays and increasing collaboration, which has had good effects on game quality but seems to leave Rockstar without the bandwidth they would have if each studio would get its project done more independently. I think they're trying to get into a flow where they have two major releases a year, but things like Team Bondi -- with whom collaborating should have resulted in Rockstar being able to work on other things while a game got done for them -- result in diverting production resources from future games so the next game in the queue can get wrapped up and ship. And that's only a story we know something about because Team Bondi fell apart. There were rumors about Rockstar San Diego and what it took to finish Red Dead Redemption. We know Max Payne 3 has been delayed and delayed and is now a "Rockstar Studios Production" I guess because everybody's worked on it now. Well now GTA V is just a "Rockstar North Production" and perhaps that means they finally got left alone to finish their game, and perhaps that means there will be two major releases this year. Unfortunately the only other game we know about is Agent, also from Rockstar North, so how they'd get two games out in the year following GTA V is a mystery. Xbox may launch theirs in 2013 (although thats still unlikely) but Sony won't. I would fathom a guess ps4 won't launch till fall 2014 at the earliest. Just going by some recent interviews it seems theres no great desire to beat others to market. IMO and that of some folk i have spoke to, the ps3 still has its peak days ahead, contrary to what naughty-dog said about pushing it to it's limit. Personally i welcome it much sooner.. for me the ps3 has caused me nothing but an annoyance. I'm constantly unimpressed with how the ps3 deals with certain things such as AA/Jaggies ect ect ect and the overly complicated display settings which could be much easier to find the correct combination. (Developers need to take some responsibility for this too though) I've just spent more time in 'calibration mode' than i have actually playing games lol.. I'm not a ps3 hater btw... maybe my eyes are over sensitive i don't know, but i know i expected more.. Here's my reasoning. I think they will only announce a date around three months prior to the release. There is a pattern to the way Rockstar market their games you see, which is that the marketing drive kicks into top gear in the three months running up to the release of any title. (Before then their promotional efforts are relatively low level.) Also I think they are trying to only announce a release date when they are certain they can meet it. So I think the announcement of a release date will signal the start of their usual intense three month campaign of marketing. Nobody seems to like to release things (games, DVD's, etc) too close to Christmas. Therefore that ought to rule out a December release. That leaves November as the latest they would release GTA:V in 2012. So counting back three months, you get August. Well, the same can be said about PC versions of today's console games. There are definitely some notable differences. When you talk about things like draw distance of high level models, amount of vehicles and NPCs on screen, resolution in textures etc. They look better than their console counterparts, but they still can't measure up to games that are designed for PC only. GTA V would look seriously dated on next-gen consoles compared to other next-gen titles that would be released at the same time. I know a lot of people would still buy it and it would still be a great game and all that, but I don't think Rockstar would want it on their record honestly. They want to stay cutting edge. They don't want to spend years creating a game that'll be technically outdated the minute it's released. Early 2013 release at the latest, or a delay to next-gen. Do you have any idea how easy it would be to make a game where you can open a trunk, sit on a bench and ride a roller coaster? What a ridiculous way to measure the quality of a game. So NO systems from them will come out 2013. That would be suicide for this game anyways. Who REALLY wants to pay $600 for a new system just for 1 game? The game has an %99 chance of being released for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. And you realise other HUGE games are coming this year for current systems right? If there as a next gen system coming they also would be pushed to it. HALO 4 should prove that. If halo 4 is coming only to 360, MS has no plans on a new system anytime soon. They have no need to change it and if they did so soon, i certainly would not be buying it. Also it's a new console, not a new game, the advertising, planning etc would be done a year or more in advance, we would have already heard about it if a 2013 release was coming. Just like GTAV telling us way in advance. Sony would 1) not release any big titles and 2) not be showing off what the hardware can do when they wont even be using it. There will be no new consoles. And those would give you countless hours of fun? SR3 has all of that stuff and it bored the life out of me within 15 minutes. Just driving around in GTA IV is way better than any of the stuff you listed. You should try Wii resort or Wii sports. They sound right up your alley. I'm kidding. That stuff can be fun diversions during the main story. After that though the only thing keeping me on it is the city, the detail, the atmosphere and finding rare vehicles etc. I think you place too much value on mini games and perhaps not enough on the stuff that matters. GTA IV was far from boring, there wasn't as much variety as GTA SA admittedly. Things IV did better than SA IMO: Story-telling Graphics Driving (Not motorbikes though) Multiplayer (obv) Physics (although sometimes annoying) Mobile phone Characters Things SA did better than IV: Variety of environments (3 very different cities, different types of countryside, underwater) Graphical style (I prefer the stylization/colours/design of SA) Variety of cars (from hover crafts, tractors, combines etc) Customisation (car modification, lots of clothes to chose, tattoos, haircuts) Interact with peds Variety of missions (stealth, remote control, taxi, firefighting) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
