Will GTA IV run top performance on this PC?

I'm looking to spend up to about $1000 on a new gaming pc to play GTA IV is high quality settings and other games as well.

I'm not smart enough to "build" my own pc so i would apperciate it if i dont get a reply saying "just build your own pc dude"

And also i plan on not using tigerdirect.com because my credit card and bank got frauded couple months back so i stopped purchasing online with it ever since.

Please tell me what you think about these PC's i might buy and I would also apperciate some recommended pcs in the $1000 and below price range.

Asus - Essentio Desktop - 8GB Memory - 750GB Hard Drive

or

Dell - XPS Desktop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive

I'm sorry to say this, but both of these are an utter waste of money. With GT520/HD6450 on board you might get top performance in Solitaire, not GTAIV.

They aren't utter wastes of money, because a graphics card update can make GTA IV pretty playable... something along the lines of a GTX 460 would be good, but would probably call for a PSU upgrade too.

Here is a much better one for the same price:

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWi...Number=14060749

Subtotal: $844.92

Tax is only applicable if you live in Tennessee, New Jersey or California.

Shipping: $$19.65

Total (no tax): $864.57

With the discount means that you're gonna need to do homework:

With all due respect, if you're gonna pass a good deal like this because you're too lazy to even try and learn, then you really need some money management skills. I used to consider myself too dumb and lazy to build my own computer but when I watched my friend do it, and I watched some tutorial videos, I figured that it was pretty easy. Now I help my friends build their computers and the computer I'm using right now is custom built.... it really isn't difficult if you just watch some videos.

If you really don't want to learn, go get an Alienware. Overpriced as hell, but your regular consumer desktop isn't going to cut it. Also. lemme tell you something. You seem very paranoid. Tigerdirect is a legitimate trustworthy company and 99% of the time, this is the user's fault if they had their info stolen, whether it was using a PC with a keylogger or some sort, or just falling into stupid things like buying rogue antivirus. I really can't see how the fraud issue was TD's fault.

Yeah, but in the end that will make these PCs even more overpriced than they're now. wink.gif

GTA IV will run, but not at top performance with those videocards, as people have already said here. It would still look got at 1024x768 though, but I doubt anyone is going to pay a $1000 to play GTA IV on a 15" lcd

It's better to Build your own (Custom PC) and it's cheaper than OEM's.

15" Monitor is too small, get at least 18" or 18.5'.

Just my simple recommendation.

Processor: Intel i5 2500k

Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 560 Ti or better.

There are lots of website like tom's hardware or on yahoo answers, you can ask there for PC spec recommendations.

I recommend the one above. Strong specs, free gift card and no bloatware. Pretty hard to find a i7 2600K computer for $1000 these days... most PCs in this price range would be included with an i5

$1000 with $200 microsoft credit

i understand that some people don't want to build their own, plus i wouldn't want to have to do tech support for them if it didn't work out right (ie sandy bridge debacle)

I checked that out. Looks good to me..

But what about this one? Same price

Well the link on the first one does not work.

As for the Alienware, it again has a relatively weak graphics card. It does not state the psu in the spec, but one of the reviews states that it is 240 watts, which is very weak for a gaming pc.

the gts 450 OEM (but it may be the full fat version that runs 192) has 144 shader cores,

http://www.nvidia.com/object/product-gefor...450-oem-us.html

my gtx 285 has 240 iirc.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gp.../specifications

this means he could probably play gta IV/EFLC at 30fps at med/high settings @ 1920x1200, especially with a 3.4 GHz quad core cpu that is new intel technology. i have a measly q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz... and that's not even thinking that alienware may have included an overclockable motherboard - i can't tell from the pictures on amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Alienware-Aurora-AAS...5833104-1367946

or newegg

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16883155127

http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1176874/

http://slickdeals.net/f/4060802-Dell-Alien...9-Free-Shipping

not to mention that this is SLI - if a person wants to keep one and sell the other to defray the cost of the pc? hey...

and now we are talking crysis 2 on high huh? that's right... i wish i could find the article nvidia had on teir site with dual 8800gt...

http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/how...or-under-600/#2

anything that will run crysis 2 usually can run gta IV just as well, ime.

But what about this one? Same price

no, the one that i linked comes with $200 microsoft store credit, you could upgrade the operating system on an old machine and give it to a relative, or keep it as a backup. plus that's the x51, my coworker bought one and alienware/dell took more than a month to build it and send it to him. plus that's not the overclockable 2600 CPU, the one i linked is. and that one has only one videocard, instead of an extra one that could, again, be used in another computer.

As for the Alienware, it again has a relatively weak graphics card. It does not state the psu in the spec, but one of the reviews states that it is 240 watts, which is very weak for a gaming pc.

newegg link says 525w, and it is probably one of the hi-pro psu that dell alienware used on their builds that hardocp reviewed

howw does the link not work, btw? i just clicked it, works fine here. what browser?

and last but definitely not least, notice in those newegg pictures, all of those discs. more than likely it is a windows 7 disc with no dell bloatware...
