Gtaghost22
Your signature says differently. Ignore the signature.. Its just there to piss "Ned Luke is the protagonist" theorists, i'm only 99.9% sure that the hispanic guy is the main protagonist in GTA V *cough* #FACT *cough*

lslarko
My personal feel is with the guy from the red car for the protag, and quite similar to a few of your thoughts that relating to the casting call (of which we still dont know if it relates to V at all) is that if it turns out to be I quite imagine that the balcony is our father of whom has fallen back into the crimanal underworld because of you the son. So for instance, you come from qiute a wealthy background (The two nice sports cars show that idea), but you go into the criminal world to try and show your not a pussy rich boy living on your dads name, something big go's very wrong, and you have to pull off some very big jobs that could land you into alot more trouble if it doesnt work out. This is where the "Ned Luke" Balcony man/Father comes in to help bail you out hence the speech from the trailer, things didnt go to plan for him, but he's been there he knows the business well and your his son and clearly mean the world to him, and your brother ends up helping to, whether thats because he thinks its his chance to play a FPS in real life or he's forced into it is another matter. Thats my idea anyway, the only issue i find with my idea is that it may seem hard to side with your protag if he seems quite selfish etc, although I find the "Mr wants to escape that world" protag is somewhat over done it does lead you to side with him/her. As to the "Bold New Direction" im still lost, can anyone think of any major sandbox games of where you actually have a family etc you have to worry about? possible Fallout3 spoiler In Fallout 3 i recall your father being involved briefly towards the end of the game. DjMiikkii
His family will most DEFINITELY be involved in the story, but playing as his children and wife? I highly doubt it.
LotusRIP
The last few missions of RDR had me thinking about this too... It had a great feel in RDR being a family guy, and for reasons I can't say without spoiling anything. It would be a great idea and people who bitch about being too old can just play as a son instead

Also I know what you mean, last missions made me feel that sense of family, but i cant say why without spoiling the game. ...... @LotusRIP read my earlier posts in this topic and you will know why i think the hispanic guy will be the main protagonist in GTA V PS: sorry for being slightly off-topic again.. Why, cause he was the only stereotypical badass in the trailer?... Don't agree at all Yes and no,whilst now youve mentioned it when i look at the charecter he does look typically bad ass, my main reasoning for that particular person, are a few of the shots in the trailer of that guy doing a couple of typically GTA things, (driving the heist van - although i admit not totally confirmed its him, and the hooker scene and admitedly also not 100% its him) I agree its totally possible the protag could be the balcony guy, and unlike a few i also think that it would be pretty rad playing as the older guy, its just my personal feel and speculation that its not him. Either way by the looks of things both guys from the trailer look like they will be heavily involved with the game, and im bloody looking forward to it no matter who we play as. GR7
I've said this a few times but I don't think he has kids or a wife for that matter. All the things he talked about was his vision of the American dream something he thought he could achieve by moving to LS to escape his demons. He uses words like "wanted", "could" and "would" implying none of those things actually happened apart from buying a big house, those are things he would have done if some interference didn't come his way like an old friend or enemy forcing him come out of retirement or maybe because he enjoyed that life style too much to let it go due to some sick rush he got out of it (rush being V's codename) or like many have suggested some sort of economic pressure. Meekail
100% Agree with "HydraulicWaRiOr" i really dont know why people seem to think we are going to play as a fat 50 years old guy with 2 kids!! i really cant wait to see the look on thier face when R* confirms the Hispanic guy as the main protagonist in GTA V, NOT the fat 50 years old guy with 2 kids. PS: i dont hate old people.. I just dont think a 45-50 years old man would fit as protagonist in a GTA game I can't wait to see your face when R* announces that Ned Luke guy is the protagonist
ChillyPhilly
You are all wrong. Kids were a hypothetical thing. Balcony guy, distinctly non-Latino, is the protag. And it'll just be the one guy. That's my bet. My bet as well. I'll also say that I doubt he ever got around to having a family at all. Having a family was something he wanted to do, but never did. EscoLehGo
No thanks to playing a 45 year old Caucasian male going through some kind of midlife crisis. Oh man, that's so relatable to the average gamer. f*ck outta here
Member#1
Why is it that in every thread where the word protagonist drops it ends in whining of some kids, that are even too young to be allowed to play the game, that don't want to play as an "old fat guy"? Just read the first post again and discuss that or just don't say anything.
Braindawg
But see, he says in the beginning: "I wanted to retire from what I was doing. From that.. that line of work. Be a good guy for once. Be a FAMILY man." See? Why would he be so stupid as to purposely put himself back into the life of crime? It's obvious he was a criminal in the past, so something big is going to have to happen for him to be tricked or forced back in to the criminal lifestyle, I'm thinking it could involve his kids. Imagine if his kids are now full grown and one is a gang member...? I could speculate forever. And I didn't see "playing ball" as a metaphor either. It's like that episode of south park, where they wrote a book just for fun and people took it seriously. You're reading into the trailer too much. StalinBballin
Eh, you guys can agree or disagree with me all you want, because I'm merely speculating and so is everyone else at this point. That's the fun of speculation. That's why this forum exists, for ideas, comments and opinions. And I'll be honest, I've only been browsing these forums since the day the trailer dropped and I've seen some threads/theories that are much more stupid than this one. I'm still sticking by what I said in that our "emotional investment" that has been in one single character before, as all GTA's have been in the past, is going to be replaced by an entire family's struggle with economical status, tied in with being a criminal to get money to provide for your family A.K.A. "the pursuit of the almighty dollar."

Braindawg
Nobody said the protagonist actually HAS kids. Get your sh*t straight people. And he doesn't look 50, You people should seriously stop whining, this is going to be the same "Uh, I don't wanna play a 40 year old Russian guy" whining people did before GTA IV came out, when everyone thought Niko was Russian or something :L

Alba_Bhoy88
I personally would prefer only 1 protagonist. Having many can spoil things. Given Rock*'s story telling ability though, they could pull it off quite effectively so if there is multiple protags then so be it.. Coud become a more emotional experience or could become emotionless.. the line is that fine.
