Mister Pink
Yo, I don't really follow any particular site for my gaming reads except for linkage posted on GTAforums. I'm sure many of you do though. I wonder can some of you suggest some site that you find are realistic in their score giving, don't over-hype in their previews and give good criticism where criticism is due. Can we agree that there's one great site that's accurate in it's reporting of gaming. Unbiased (if that can be true), good writing? Fireman
Use metacritic, then go through the reviews that score around the average.
JOSEPH X
I suppose you have to find someone who shares your tastes. I like whity's reviews at UltimateChance on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/UltimateChance?feature=watch That links you to his Mass Effect 3 review which was posted yesterday
Fireman
http://www.metacritic.com/ It combines all reviews written for games then gives an average critic and players review.

E.A.B.
Yourself I was recently playing Serious Sam 3. HOLY SH*T TALK ABOUT FUN. But it wound up scoring, like, a 7 from most sites. I also loved the HELL out of Killer7. It was such a unique and...different game, yet it got (ironically) 7's from reviewers because it didn't adhere to conventional gameplay mechanics and standards of visual quality and plot development. I also thought LIMBO was HIGHLY overrated and a simple game with mechanics that were so plain it could've been a flash game. ''but it looks pretty and its DEEP.'' No it isn't. The narrative is non-existant and, while I can take a screencap of any area in the game and it'll look nice, so f*cking what. That's only due to its simplicity. Yet it scores 10's all across because, apparently, most reviewers never played games before COD, so they think anything that is even remotely different is suddenly a second coming. Your opinion varies from reviewers, and some games get no coverage. Like Binary Domain, which is apparently Gears of War with awesome shooting, and Mass Effect plot development and dialogue (when Mass Effect was good). Coverage determines sales, in a VERY big way. The reason people buy big AAA titles is because other people are buying them, and the reason they may skip over smaller titles is because ''meh, never heard of it, and no ones making a big fuzz''. But that's a seperate issue. Long story short; rely on discussion and news. About the only 'reviewer'' I follow is Classic Gaming Room from inecom. He doesn't review as much as he shows footage and gives impressions and some general points of interest about the game. It's mostly a look back at old games, though. Sometimes he shows newer games, though. And be sure to look for ''classic gaming room'', not ''classic gaming room undertow'' or any of the other presentations. they suck Edited March 11, 2012 by E.A.B. Mister Pink
Thanks for all the links ang suggestions. I'm in work now but will have a mosey at all the links. By 'yourself' you mean you judge games yourself? RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
E.A.B.
By 'yourself' you mean you judge games yourself? Directed at me, I assume Yeah, after a while you start concentrating more on what the gaming community as a whole is talking about, what the general buzz is, and what the game contains rather than rely on what the number the game was given by some person. For example, I know who SUDA51 is, so his games are almost always instant buys; but first I might look up gameplay and wiki info, as well as ask if its worth the trouble. Reviewers aren't bad at all, but I find that sites concentrate far too much on an arbitrary number and reviewing huge AAA titles. I like websites that don't provide proper 'reviews', but impressions and general information about the game and developer. Anyway, in the end, taste is very subjective, and you'll find that a lot of games you believe are good or not conflict with reviewer opinion, and that it may be a gem. For example, many people think NMH was a sh*tty game and that Madworld did it better. So take reviewers opinions with a grain of salt, and do some research on your own. buzbegone
http://www.gametrailers.com/ I use this site every time I'm considering buying a game. Only downside is twats like Michael Patcher appearing day after day.

I like whity's reviews at UltimateChance on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/UltimateChance?feature=watch People still listen this rapper complain about video games using a vocabulary consisting of 10 words?! Like Mati mentioned, Angry Joe is seriously the most informative and entertaining reviewer I've ever watched. Also, even though it's "really cool" to hate on big review sites, I almost always trust Gamespots reviews because of the consistency throughout the reviewers.
