rysgrl12012
Ok, is there a way for my brother and his friend to both play multiplayer (aka everyone at the airport for instance) online in party mode? or whatever its called... I know you can do that on call of duty, have two people playing online at once from the same counsel... possible?

radioman
Couldn't you just use 2 controllers, and one person use one and the other person use the second one and both be in the same MP game?-I mean, doesn't the PS3 accept up to like 5 controllers on one unit?(not sure how many the 360 can connect at one time?) Just curious?

It worked on the PS2 with SA's MP-I mean, you could connect 2 controllers and two people could play on the same console.. Just curious?
Karjerker
It seems to me that what you're asking to do is not supported (split-screen format) on GTA-IV, so you have one other realistic option and that is to get another console or ... well, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work this out, do you? The only other option you have is to take turns because the feature you want is simply not supported. I'm curious as to why this post even got any attention given the situation being reported? It worked on the PS2 with SA's MP-I mean, you could connect 2 controllers and two people could play on the same console.. Just curious? Because it doesn't work-I mean, this is a 1 person per console game. Have you not played it-I mean, do you actually own a copy and have turned it on? The first comment on this subject answered it perfectly....NO! And I mean no as in only 1 person can play this game per console. I am with karjerker on this, why is this getting so much attention? Is this really a difficult concept to grasp?
radioman
Because it doesn't work-I mean, this is a 1 person per console game. Have you not played it-I mean, do you actually own a copy and have turned it on? I mean, look at SA for PS2, it too was a single-player game, yet you were able to connect a second controller and have a 2-player(MP) mode...Why AND How is this one different?-I mean, doesn't the PS3 accept more than one controller? Just curious? Yes, The PS3 version is the first one I played(back when the game first came out)beat the game several times-and yes, I have played MP on it. I have just been unable to confirm it, as I only have one controller for the PS3. How do you know it doesn't work-Have you tried it? If so, please post video proof of it-if it works or not.. Cause like I said above, it worked on San Andreas for PS2, and that was a Single-player game too..Should be the same concept here??
HenningM92
Yes you can connect several controllers to the PS3, but you cant play as two on IV like you could on SA for PS2. Just accept it, lol...
StonersDarkness
Yeah dude... really... just stop, you CAN NOT PLAY GTA IV SPLIT SCREEN... (to be honest, i symatize with you because me and my girlfriend bitch about not being able to play GTA tougether) now, if you would like games to play Split Screen i can list a few... Kayne And Lynch Dead Men 1 and 2, Army Of Two 1 and 2, Haze (which you can play ONLINE MULTIPLAYER Split Screen, Online Servers are still active), Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet 2, Little Big Planet 1 and 2... radioman
Yeah dude... really... just stop, you CAN NOT PLAY GTA IV SPLIT SCREEN. I was NOT talking about playing in Split screen(I know it cannot be done this way)-I was talking about connecting 2 controllers and having 2 people play in MP as if they were on different consoles-2 people in the same game-with seperate characters-it says on the box that MP is for 2-32 people, so How is that not possible? Just curious?-Is the game box lieing to people?Just Curious ...Just a heads up. I think you guys misunderstood my last post, as people keep mentioning about "split screen" which IS NOT what I am talking about...

But, the one thing that i still don't understand, is: Why does it say "2-16 players" for MP(consoles)/2-32 players for MP(PC version), if you cannot play with that many people? Just curious? But there are 15 replies that say you can't play more then one person per console. So really you just look like your trying to argue with everyone. The game says online: 2-16 players for console. Up to 16 different people with separate consoles on separate tv's can join a game. How in the hell could 2 people play on one screen from one console with out split screen? That makes absolutely no sense.
radioman
How in the hell could 2 people play on one screen from one console with out split screen? The SAME way people play MP on San Andreas for PS2-connect a second controller...remember, SA DOES NOT have split screen, yet 2 people can play it in MP mode....see, where i'm coming from? Just Curious? That's why I asked, as pretty much everyone here was talking about "Split Screen"-which I already know that is not possible.. Ooohhh, so you were talking about THAT kind of multiplayer! Lol. I'm not sure if you can even call that multiplayer. Actually, offline multiplayer, that's what it would be called, I believe. GTA IV doesn't support that either, so yeah... "2-16 players" is for online multiplayer. And you don't have point out every time that you've just started learning about consoles! That is what I am confused about? 1. You CAN connect more than one controller. Up to four I believe. 2. GTA IV is a single player game. The ONLINE multiplayer is 2-16 players. 3. There is NO offline multiplayer in GTA IV. SA was the only GTA game to implement that mode. Does that answer all your questions?
HenningM92
This is starting to get on my nerves.
