papanesta
List of shops still open. Also, reward points can be earned again, but only spent on pre-owned stock.
OysterBarron
yeah my friend said today that the biggest one in colchester is still open, so is it official there staying now or is it just for the time being?
Seddo
yeah my friend said today that the biggest one in colchester is still open, so is it official there staying now or is it just for the time being? The rumours of RBS buying them is getting stronger, they even blocked a bid from a company a week before they went into administration. Many buyers these days wait for the company to go into admin so it knocks a massive chunk off the price. I imagine they will most probably keep the profitable stores open and any stores that didn't do well will stay closed. Another buyout funded by the tax payer . HeNDo6750
At least one GAME in Nottingham is still open in Victoria Shopping Centre. I might preorder GTA V from there (if still open when GTA V gets released)
Whiskey
I'm pretty sure all the GAME's in Dublin are now closed. I quite liked the two for €25 PC games. I think the staff are now holding a sit in for better redundancy pay. It's a shame I always used to be in GAME when I was younger.
Seddo
The Game and Gamestation websites are now back up which is a start. Game's reward points can now be earned and spent again but only on pre-owned games.
thebestgameever
Good that i spent my pints when i did! GAME suffered badly with online competition, with the majority being a lot cheaper than them ( not first day price, but prices after 2 or so weeks). papanesta
So I guess RBS realised they'd been in the news enough recently, GAME has been bought by OpCapita, for just £1.

A pound? not fair i started the bidding at 10 . Good to see some stores and jobs surviving but if they haven't learnt anything and don't stop over pricing their games then i imagine the company will end up going the same way. If I was them I would take the shops out of the shopping malls and go to quieter places, then sell the games for internet prices. The rents in the big shopping places are crazy, I remember Clarks shoe place in Manchester Arndale paying 60k a month in rent, then wages, rates, bills etc. Game would have to sell 100k in games per month before they even think about profit, so at £30 a game they would have to sell 3333 to break even. They will diversify into something else I am sure.

papanesta
Just thought I should point out that pre-ordering and such is available again, finally.
JOSEPH X
Just thought I should point out that pre-ordering and such is available again, finally. I've still got my Max Payne 3 pre-order in from before the site went down. They still have all my details and it's going to ship.

As do I, but I'm going to cancel it, as I got the Special Edition pre-ordered at HMV for over £20 cheaper. I'll leave the Ghost Recon Signature Edition though, as it's only available from UbiShop otherwise.
Crokey
... I remember Clarks shoe place in Manchester Arndale paying 60k a month in rent... 60k a month?!?! If the Arndale is earning that much, not wonder they haven't knocked the bleeping thing down. As for the whole Game situation, I've not bothered with Game in years simply because they are like most other shops that sell games, in that they can't be bothered to stock a decent range of PC games if any. Not surprising really as PC games are thin on the ground and PC games that are released are usually way behind Console releases because producers and makers think PC's are all pirated software.
