Username.gta
III era, of course. You have a lot more to choose from, and all (main) games from the era are epic IMO. Whereas in IV, you just have the main game and two expansions, and I'm not a fan of any of them. I don't have much experience of the I era, but the II era was okay. Hopefully, the V era will be better than ever!

DaWiesel
The HD era: GTA IV, TLaD, TBoGT and the comming GTA V. Much better than the 3D era.
Korpi
My favorite GTA era is the III. Simply because of VC and SA. The two best, in my opinion and my favorite GTA games. IV was great and V is propably gonna be even better (can't say yet), but it just can't compare with III era and with Vice and San An. Looking forward for V. Username.gta
May as well post a statistics chart as well. I: Don't have enough experience to judge. L69: Never played L61: Never played -- II: OK -- III: Yes VC: Yes SA: Yes ADV: Never played LCS: Yes VCS: Never played -- IV: OK TLAD: No BoGT: No CTW: No -- V: We'll see... So anyway, like I said before, I prefer the III, as I've enjoyed all 4 games from that era that I have played.
Algonquin Assassin
Hard to say. I started with GTA 1 when I was 12 and have basically played every GTA in order of release. I have VC listed as my favourite GTA and while I have great memories of the GTA III era (Mostly because I was a teenager) I really like the direction GTA IV took the series in. Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the the very few old school GTA players that actually likes the GTA IV era though.
GTAIndonesia
I like how they do crossovers in IV and EFLC, but i like III Era better.
Irrational
GTA 2 Era. (Or Top-Down Era(Because it's better to call it "TD Era" instead of "2D" that the noob spokesman in R* newswire called it))
KaRzY6
Here's my rating of the GTA's... I Era: I: 7/10 First GTA, good at the time. TwinFire
The III Era, fo' sho'! Because..... NOSTALGIA! MAFIA! ITALIANS! CLAUDE! And last, but not least, GROVE STREET! The gameplay was so much fun, hell, the dialogue was friggin' hilarious and amazing. The IV Era, however, wasn't much of a replay-value for me. And I hated the fact that the IV Era is a separate universe from III... Niko's awesome, though. So, umm, yeah... III it is.
Neehtils
I don't know really. These are the games I have played: GTA III Era: GTA III - 6/10 (Didn't finish) GTA: Vice City - 9.5/10 GTA: San Andreas - 9/10 GTA: Liberty City Stories - 7/10 (Didn't finish) GTA IV Era: GTA IV - 9.5/10 GTA IV: The Lost and Damned - 8/10 GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony - 9/10 GTA: Chinatown Wars - 9/10 So I guess the GTA IV Era. Vice City is my overall favourite city, and thats pretty much why I rate it so high. I would say GTA IV is my favourite game though, but if it didn't have free roam multiplayer Vice City would be my favourite. Online free roam with friends was amazing, can't wait for it in
GTAboyWonder
IV era, I never really liked any of the stories for the III era, especially CJ's. I mean, a street gangster from the southside to working for the goverment and flying jet-packs while chasing jets, I mean wadda fuk!!
Redketman
Obviously Era III for me. I also liked how many games they made at the time. These days there aren't many GTA games, not even any handheld games which is a shame since Chinatown Wars was a great game. GTA III: When I was ten years old I was very thrilled about this game. It was my favourite game at the time. One of the best games ever made. Vice City: Didn't really care so much about this game. I was ten when I played this game for the first time but thought GTA III was way better. San Andreas: The best game ever made. Beaten it three times. Advance: Probably the best game for the GBA. Liberty City Stories: I actually don't remember much from this game. But I am sure I liked it. Vice City Stories: A very good game. I thought it was better than Vice City since you could run empires and things like that.

Tommy34
I got hooked up to GTA because of Vice City and Tommy Vercetti. All GTAs are good but 3rd era is the best.

Flesh-n-Bone
The III era and it's not even close. So much entertainment and nostalgia. I'd do anything to go back to the time when playing those games was still refreshing and I was still discovering stuff. Grove Street, Chinatown, Vice Beach, Victor Vance, the lowriders, Claude single-handedly pissing off every criminal in Liberty City, Radio Los Santos, all of that is stuck in my memory forever and I'll remember the GTA III era games as some of the best times in my life. I totally agree with you. GTA III was, on my opinion, the best GTA Era. There was so much entertainment and nostalgia, and there was over-the-top gameplay, something I really enjoyed about the GTA series.
