Slamman
I admit, I hate this VALIDATE your copy of GTA for PC crappola, I bought my copy, but I also don't want to commit one copy to one HDD, I know they don't want you installing multicopies, but some EULA require you just to use one copy at a time, and move all docs and discs in transferring ownership, some stips are confusing, but do you also find that perhaps there's an easier way to do this? I found EfLC installs the Offline software applet anywhere you choose, whereas GTA IV's is harder to nail down (Program Files folder I believe) and still you must go online to Validate.Rockstargames DOT com..... Seems the SSL is revoked, I wonder some times?!?! WTH Anyone figure out what's what? The thing I'd like to do is test the PC install to find the best machine, Not sure if you revoke it before moving to another, as in sale or upgrade of your own, like changing the OS HDD booting platform https://support.securom.com/rockstarunlock/...ex.php?c=unlock Edited March 10, 2012 by Slamman
unc13bud
yes, always revoke. or you lose a install if you wipe/drop/lose the hard drive. i have been complaining about the activation process before, but i found its better to install rockstar social club first (don't log in), then windows gfwl, then install the game. then patch 4, then play. then choose offline profile, you have to use the scroll bars down - this is hidden even @ 1920x1200, which shows rockstar's and microsoft's duplicity. MrMateczko
Or in other words, f*ck GFWL!!! When I want to play without xliveless, the original xlive.dll library CRASHES on my compuer. I tried updating it but no luck. I simply can't use GFWL. What an irony. One Russian guy was able to make a solution (listener, that made xliveless), that three multi-millionaire companies (Sony, Microsoft, Rockstar Games) can't solve. f*ck this. radioman
The game activations are more than likely a legal thing-remember How many people downloaded III, VC, and SA illegally(from reading all those topics, which got locked in those sections over the years)? They(and most games) more than likely started requiring activations to help prevent piracy. However, it is not a big deal, as according to the game manual, the games(IV AND EFLC) have UNLIMITED activations for the game and like 15 activations for Live? -which IF you use 15 activations on Live, there is something wrong, as that either means you have 15 computers OR you re-install the OS/reformat/re-install the game way too many times. Which since MOST people only have 2 computers-one laptop and one desktop, that should only use up 2 activations. The ONLY time it is necessary to re-install the game is: (1) after a HD failure/virus, (2) after getting a new computer OR (3) after a bad modding session(but that one is the User's fault for trying to mod the game, and is in no way the responsibility of the game manufacturer). in my opinion? Why people re-install the OS and/or the game so much is beyond me?-Just curious? Even IF by chance you use up that many Live activations, ALL you have to do is either CALL the Toll-Free number for microsoft and get an activation back-may take 10 minutes at most...OR E-mail Microsoft to regain the activations...can't get more simpler than that-lol Yes, It can be a pain sometimes, but as a Law Enforcement Officer, I have to agree with anything aimed at cutting down piracy....Just a heads up/my two cents. Slamman
Initial reading of the EULA suggests or sounds like only the original owner is covered, it's still a lot to digest and get a handle on, but it seems like you can deactivate an install if you wish to move the install to a better hardware platform, for yourself, or for sale. It also seems to suggest you can have a server install stream access to multiple users if you have a particular license, something odd, so not sure what the reality is. Group Licensing for Grand Theft Auto!!? I just mistakenly booted up my Windows 8 Developer Preview, it went from a 2005 Limestone MCE Asus board into my P5Q Asus using the P45 chipset Intel, the same GPU, it took a moment to add drivers, but ultimately it worked fine, just negated the fact I activated it online with the previous mobo/machine! hahaha DAMN, eh? Who know how long it would operate if just activated on the one machine That example is that though working, it's now Not Activated, again! In this case, I'm using my sister's husband's copy of the game, he's not a major GTA fan, while I am, I play the Xbox copy I do own, and I bought EfLC, but for GTA IV, wanted to install from his discs to try the game on my PC, since he's been collecting PC games for ages, he's got just about every PC game in existence except the last few years worth! haha Edited March 12, 2012 by Slamman
