CorneliusCoffin
Well R* been having this release chain since IV, and same with V to continue the chain. And who wouldn't be for V, its been 4 years since IV No, R* didn't have that release chain. You've artificially manufactured that release chain, by ignoring games like GTA Chinatown Wars, RDR and (L.A. Noire.) You're also ignoring that the two Episodes of Liberty City were released stand-alone before they were released as a package, which is weird, given the fact that you've counted the PS3 and the X-Box 360 release as two seperate releases. Last but not least, even if this chain existed, there's Max Payne 3 coming out this May, which would be closest to an April release this year. pdbq
I think they release the gta trailer to promote max Payne. And it's worked, millions of people have been checkin out the rockstar pages and finding nothing new about gta, instead having mp3 shoved at us. I think they COULD use this tactic maybe a month before mp3 releases, not too close to it to take away sales. I doubt it, however I wouldn't rule it out. Also, gta will get 6 months of advertising, the last 2 being intense viral and television adverts. The purpose of advertising is to not only let people know what it is, but to tell people why they HAVE to buy this product. Lynx deodorant is a good example, a lot of people know what it is, but with adverts claiming that you will pull more birds and instantly be more attractive, makes the casual fan want to buy it. The gta Internet community is a minority, there are loads of people who know what gta is but are not convinced enough to go out and spend £40 on it. HeNDo6750
The chain does exist, and chinatown wars isn't a console release, is it. All i'm talking about is the GTA's since IV and not any other R* game
BirthOfMayhem
GTA V will be released in 2012 (which people know and not 2013). But when exactly is unknown. But think about this GTA IV released 29th APRIL 2008 EFLC for XBOX360 released 29th OCTOBER 2009 EFLC for PS3 and PC released 16th APRIL 2010 GTA IV COMPLETE EDITION released 29th OCTOBER 2010 GTA V APRIL 2012? See the pattern since 2008 to now. And if GTA V was released in April 2012, then it would be the best time as it would be the start of fiscal 2013 and will rake in the most money, same with IV at the start of fiscal 2009 You're desperate. Maybe not.... GTA was announced at the end of October. If it follows that pattern, we could(hopefuly) see a trailer in April and if we are luckey, a release in October 2012. Also clues to a trailer in April: The only GTA 4 multiplayer event in spring is on April 5th, the rest is RDR and MP3. Maybe this event is celebrating a trailer that could be released on that day? All i'm talking about is the GTA's since IV and not any other R* game Exactly what I'm saying. You just gotta leave out the handheld games, all others R* titles, selected DLCs (not all of them, only those that don't fit in the with the result you're trying to archieve) and everything that was before GTA IV and whoops, you've got your conspiracy theory. LotusRIP
Marketing is a little overhyped... Radiohead released a new album with 10 days notice, after years of nothing. It's possible.

Makio
They only need another trailer in June .... loads of markething until the release date (November 2012 - Feb 13) In my opinion. A 3rd trailer a month before the release please
GTA-King
You know, the more I think about it, the more a late 2012 release date makes sense. They release the trailer in November, which could mean they are directing people to their site and notice MP3. Clever, but it could mean they are starting the V hype train sooner. Like about a year sooner. We are expecting more info soon after MP3 is released, so if V comes out in autumn 2012, than it would be almost a year after the first trailer. R* knows they won't have to market GTA for too long. Like other people have said... the name will sell itself. The way I think a 2013 release is possible is if they decide to delay it. I want to believe they have learned from their mistakes with marketing IV, but only time will tell. Perhaps they are being hush hush until they know EXACTLY when they want to release it. Anyway, right now we just need to anticipate E3 2012 in June. I believe all the answers will be solved there.

Travis93
I think trailer 2 will be released in early June, with a May 2013 release date. It would give R* almost a full year of promoting the game and getting all of the bugs cleared. Whether they release it tomorrow, or in May 2013, people are still going to buy the game, so it doesn't really matter.

IBONEgta
As a teen i used to get most of my game's around Christmas by relying on my mum to buy them for me, so i honestly don't know why all or most games are released October too December. Yes they might be in competition with each other, but i think it's one time of year your most likely to buy multiple games. SO if a game comes out in October, you can't buy it for christmas? Nope, releasing months before christmas means people can plan their gifts a little more. I know, i put are instead of aren't
