This was just some of the lies that were told during development. For some strange reason they felt the need to lie about how far gtaV had progressed. From what I saw from the trailer, there's still need of developing, the draw distance faults on some places need to be fixed(In some scenes it's really low) and stuff like that. It's obvious that they've completed a lot of the game, as they've got enough to release a trailer, however I think the fact that we haven't had anymore information since then shows that they're far from done and still have a long way to go before it's finished. I imagine that they've got a general idea of what the map will be. They'll have the landscape, as well as a lot of the major buildings as well probably. Now, it'll be all about adding those finishing touches that can give a map it's uniqueness, and make us appreciate the depth of it. They're probably in a similar situation with the storyline as well. They'll have the general idea of the storyline, what they want to happen, and who many of the main characters are going to be, but again, it'll be all about adding the finishing touches, by adding those missions in there that maybe aren't as important to the whole game, and those more minor characters that come with them. They are two completely different genres of games, so a similar release date isn't going to have an effect on their sales. Let's be honest, very few people out there will not be able to afford to buy both games. If they really like both games, then they'll buy them both. It's as simple as that. To release it in the summer would be a much bigger mistake, because as I said in the other thread, it wouldn't be enough time to market the game and promote it. It's Rockstar's attention to detail that might delay GTAV's release - but we'll have a better game for it. I'm guessing a release date somewhere between Nov 12 - Apr 13. If you look at the early GTA IV pictures from 2007, you'll see it was far from done. Massive amounts of the building's textures were missing, and that's one reason why it was delayed - to finish up stuff like that.
