SilentSeas
All of your opinions and views are pretty much mine, yes IV had huge improvements but I still feel the likes of SA and VC were stronger games. I disagree, IV is a far stronger effort in my opinion. As fantastic as the III era games were, I feel as though R* failed to get some of the basics right. Driving always felt tacky to me while the shooting system was just appalling, I still remember raging when the aiming would lock on to some old lady rather than anyone who actually posed a threat to me. At least in IV, R* finally got the basics correct by implementing a stable shooting and cover system as well as much improved driving physics. Sure IV lacked many features, but R* were right to sacrifice them in favour of what they did bring in, leaving them with a solid foundation to build upon in future games. Auzas
No amazing memories? The detail alone should be enough. I remember the first time I heard the sound of driving over a sewer hatch and the first time I realized there's wind in the game. Simply amazing. I loved GTA IV and IMO it was a huge step forwards, but just like GTA III it was the first of an era, somewhat of a experiment.

GTAv deserves it's place in history, there simply isn't any games out there with the same scope and level of detail.. now they have those elements pinned down they can focus on the other elements that folk felt where lacking, such as activities/mini games ect ect. I get the feeling GTA:V will be the defining title this gen and that is only possible because of GTA4.
Gtaghost22
R* always delivers, every game made by them has been enjoyed by me, a lot. 73duster
Ha, Ha! I laughed when i saw the title of this thread. The idea that a game developer has to walk on pins and needles, because they are being threatened by some retards about meeting their expectations, is ridiculous. Rockstar always produces quality games, but if you don't like what they come up with, don't buy their products. Good riddance.
SGT. Johnson
This post is more of a rant at Rockstar, because whilst I still feel they did a brilliant job with Grand Theft Auto IV, I feel they drastically went further backwards than forwards. Grand Theft Auto Vice City & San Andreas were the two games of the century for me, they still to this day hold memories than no other game has been able to do, and IV simply brought nothing new except eye-candy and annoying people asking me to go bowling or play darts. I hope they more than make up for IV, because whilst it wasn't a bad game, it most definitely wasn't amazing, and I am quite disappointed looking back and realising I have no amazing memories on the game, and can't even remember the storyline whereas on both Vice City and San Andreas I can, because I became immersed in those storys. Biggest thing that bugged me about GTA IV is the lack of effort on the airport area, you can tell that it was never finished and the static "airplanes" that are moving around were last minute additions to make the area feel more like an airport, frankly id prefer it if they didn't have them moving about. And the Shamal-looking private jets, why are the shading and vector quality so damn ugly? Does anyone else agree with me? Did anyone think GTA IV was a step backwards? I am putting it down to Rockstars first game on the new-gen, and that is a perfectly good excuse for it. I am expecting big things for GTA V, and to feed my hunger for info and GTA memories, I have gone back to GTA SA and GTA VC. Go cry some more. Rhoda
R* will always aim to deliver top quality games. The gaps in between announcements and consistent results are proof enough that not only do they strive to provide a fantastic gaming experience for their audience, but they do it well. Honestly, isn't that why you're all here? I can't see this going well so I'm going to nip it in the bud I think.
