downthrough
According to this article 2K Czech has been working on GTAV for about a year on cutscene and gameplay animation. Interesting if true since it would mark the 1st time to my knowledge a studio outside the rockstar family has worked on a GTA game. p.s. sorry if posted already. SchizNitz
I doubt it. And I don't trust VG247 after they geussed GTA V would be set ONLY in hollywood/vinewood. Edited March 6, 2012 by thatguy23
ccrogers15
If 2K Czech is working on it, then saints row 3 was made by rockstar, sharks can live on land, air is burnable, water is toxic.

Actually air is quite burnable, well, the oxygen part anyways.

Sunrise Driver
Our source tells us the collaboration is part of Take Two’s plan to turn the Mafia series into a major franchise. Damn you modern console kids go play original Mafia PC or Mafia 2 PC (not that buggy crap on consoles). Mafia IS a major franchise. it would mark the 1st time to my knowledge a studio outside the rockstar family has worked on a GTA game. Visual Sciences - GTA PS Digital Eclipse - GTA Advance War Drum Studios - GTA3 10 Ann. Edition

Visual Sciences - GTA PS Digital Eclipse - GTA Advance War Drum Studios - GTA3 10 Ann. Edition 1st off i think what they mean by major title is a triple A title. considering the mixed reviews and downright hate of the game from some journalists i think thats what they mean. 2nd off i meant major GTA releases i.e. III, VC,SA,IV not spin off gta games for cell phones and gameboys. of course Rockstar wouldn't bother with those because it would be a waste to use your best developers on cell phone ports and the like. Finn 7 five 11
When approached for a statement, 2K advised it does not comment on rumours. It said it right there, it is a rumour. Not the most wacky rumour around though, i wouldn't be surprised if it was real. R* could use the expertise, their cutscenes are horrid, blocky faces with terrible animations, which is justified, but there is definitely room for improvement. Vin89
Cutscenes in Mafia II where really enjoyable...but there is nothing wrong with those in GTA IV either. Guessing who R* would improve on that after a few years I don't see the necessity to get help from outside.
SchizNitz
The only thing I didn't like about Mafia's cutscenes was the sound on the PS3, it just sounded off.

thebestgameever
mafia 2 had some great cutscenes, If this is true and means that R* can focus MORE on other things on the game, such as features, fixing bugs, adding new things to do etc... then i think its a great idea. Cut-scenes take a lot of time so this would just make the development time shorter. I just hope that 2K do not get to choose what will get cut in the game , since they pretty much cut around 40% of the content that was originally in mafia 2... There's some scene in Mafia II where the devs using pre-rendered instead of realtime. Archangelsky
I hope it is true, and I also hope that 2K Czech will contribute in terms of the driving mechanisms in GTAV especially. Mafia II had great feel in terms of driving, though they need to bring support for wheel and pedals and H-Pattern shifters to the table as well. Jabalous
Reasonable given that Rockstar and 2K are both owned by Take2. This trend has become noticeable in a lot of games; the trend of similarities between titles, and very different developers helping each other in developing each other's titles. I have that feeling of Rockstar is involved in the creation of Sam Fisher, Agent 47, as they have been involved in the creation of Max Payne characters. Max --> Sam, Jack --> Jason ---> James, typical super American heroes. Observing the video games industry closely, you get a feeling that someone is globally overlooking the products that are being produced by each developer.
