Cant wait for the Seahawks game against the Chiefs. Russell Wilson is going to win that QB job and he's got to ball all year long. Thou shalt never doubt a short QB again! tounge.gif

In all seriousness, wilson will have Lynch, TO, and Rice and Winslow.

I'm pretty nervous about the Packers game tonight. I don't care about winning, I care about our backup QB, Graham Harrell, performing in a way that can be called satisfactory. If Rodgers gets injured this season it's all over. We (the fans) had so much more confidence when Matt Flynn was with us. Now I'm not so sure.

I completely agree with you, I have not liked what I have seen from Harrell. The fact that what hes shown we are supposed to be fine if Rodgers gets hurt(knock on wood) is nuts he doesnt look ready to step into number 2. What im most excited about is to see what Cedric Benson Can do for us.

Not sure if you guys read Deadspin, but Drew Magary has been writing hilariously scathing articles about every team in the NFL titled, "Why Your Team Sucks: 2012". They include his opinions as well as fans opinions of their own franchises. I recommend the comments section too. People HATE this guy.

Since I have a sense of humor I find that funny. tonight is where we will see where we are the starters all playing the first half, lets hope for a good showing. GO PACK GO

I think the outcome of the starters and the second string defense looked great. The 2nd string offense has lots of issues, im still iffy with Harrell being the backup

great pre-season action for Denver this afternoon.

Manning finally threw his first real TD pass in a Broncos uniform.

this after finally getting hit and knocked down hard by a rushing defender. he was in the process of airing out a deep throw (which he completed) so his arm was still engaged in the follow-through. 49'ers linebacker hit him clean but laid him out on his back, yet Peyton bounced right up and ran down the field to start the next play; no huddle even.

finished the first quarter with 2 TD's and a field goal.

lookin' sharp as hell.

Offensive Line is atrocious, and it's sad because this looks like a complete set-up for Mark Sanchez to fail. They'll definitely need some players to step up to be relevant, but then again we are judging from preseason games so we just really don't know.

To be honest with you the whole offencive line isnt bad.

Wayne Hunter Is the problem, He looks like an 8 year old playing Right Tackle, Constantly being beat by the defensive linemen. We need him to go back a couple years and play like he did in the play offs Sanchez's rookie year

NY Jets trade Wayne Hunter to St. Louis Rams for Jason Smith, former No. 2 overall pick from '09

There's the solution! Swap one under performing right tackle for another!

Wayne Hunter is a f*cking embarrassment.

Anyways, anybody got preseason predictions? Here's mine:

AFC:

East: Patriots

North: Steelers

South: Texans

West: Broncos

Wild Card #5: Ravens

Wild Card #6: Jets/Chargers

Yeah yeah heckle me all you want about including the Jets, but on paper, they're a talented team. I still believe that they have a remote possibility for the last wild card spot

NFC:

East: Giants

North: Packers

South: Saints

West: 49ers

Wild Card #5: Falcons

Wild Card #6: Eagles/Bears/Lions/Seattle

Battle of the WC seeds will be very tough this year. I honestly hope that the Seahawks give the 9ers tough competition. I can't stand all these SF fans revived from the dead proclaiming that they have the best team in the NFL... when they play in the crapiest division of any sport in America... not just football, but every single one of the 4 major sports in the US

Both West conferences are unbelievably weak right now. As much flak as the NFC West gets, the AFC West should be getting just as much.

AFC

North: Bengals

East: Patriots

South: Texans

West: Broncos

#5: Steelers

#6: Titans

The Ravens will suffer from the loss of Terrell Suggs and their offense is still a question mark. The Bills still lack enough talent to get over the playoff hump; the FitzMagic will still keep them in wild card contention late into December. The Chargers need some fine tuning, but they'll rebound in 2013. The Jets have a completely anemic offense.

NFC

North: Packers

East: Eagles

South: Falcons

West: 49ers

#5: Lions

#6: Giants

The Bears have quite possibly the worst offensive line I've ever seen (aside from those expansion Texans) and an aging defense that will keep them out of the playoffs this year. The Panthers need more additions to the defense and a decent receiver to help out the immortal Steve Smith, but I won't put it past them to be surprise division winners and make an unexpected NFC Championship appearance. Seattle still doesn't have a surefire signal-caller, along with questions about Beast Mode's ability to duplicate his 2011 magic. The Aints' coaching staff is a lollercoaster at this point; before someone says "NEW ORLEANS ARE PISSED OFF AND WILL GO PERFECT", the 2007 Pats got to retain their evil mastermind.

so.

there's still no deal with the referees. the strike is going to extend at least into the first week of the regular season.

as of right now we're stuck with the replacement ref's for the opening games.

which scares the crap out of me.

I don't know how much attention you've paid to the replacement guys during the pre-season, but they've been absolutely terrible.

you might have expected them to be rusty or slightly below average, but they're not even close. they made the wrong calls, they made calls when no call was due, they mixed up the calls, they mixed up the teams, they mixed up calls and teams even after multiple reviews, they didn't face the camera, they forgot to switch on their mics, they got in the way of plays, they failed to protect punters and quarterbacks, they failed to call head-to-head hits.

it's ridiculous.

I knew they wouldn't be great but I couldn't have imagined they would be so bad. I'm not a religious man but I'm praying that the NFL resolves the contract dispute with the real ref's as soon as possible.

Wow, those replacement refs are garbage. Hell, I could make better calls than that doofus in the video shown. Mother of god.

I'm surprised at how bad they are. I haven't heard, but I assume they pulled these guys up from the NCAA ranks? You'd think if that's the case, they'd know how to call a game.

what? no.

you can't pull ref's from the NCAA to do NFL games.

for one, there's THOUSANDS of NCAA games each year while there's only 256 NFL games. the collegiate ref's are way too busy.

secondly, the rules are different between the NCAA and NFL. a lot of it is the same, but there's a lot that changes between college and pro's. the collegiate ref's are experienced and conditioned to call NCAA rules, not NFL rules. they'd be screwing up as much as the replacement ref's we've got now.

we just have to cross our fingers and hope the NFL and the union can resolve their differences before week 2 or 3 at the latest.

Figured it was time to rep my G-Men in my signature. Can't wait to see 'em back in action tomorrow night and hopefully we can win it all for the second year in a row, however unlikely it is. But if anyone can do it, it's the boys in blue led by Eli.

[EDIT] Grammar.

A lot of the officiating crews during this lockout are made up of referees from the Arena Football League and Division II and III football. Like El_Diablo said, however, there are differences between the collegiate rules and NFL rules. Some of the obvious differences are rules regarding downed runners, the game clock and out of bounds. In college if the ball carrier makes contact with the ground, other than with his feet, hands or wrists, he is down. Game clock differences; there is no two-minute warning in college and after each first down the game clock is stopped until the ball is reset. And out of bounds, you know, college you only need one foot, NFL you need two.

I imagine the rules in the Arena League are far different than those of the NFL of the NCAA. Since I know nothing of them, I won't bothering even looking them up. ha

Are the replacement refs affecting the games? Yeah, but they're providing some entertainment. Hopefully the meaningless preseason games have given them some experience and there will be less mistakes during the regular season. I hope the issues between the NFL and the NFLRA get resolved quickly. I like to think of it like this; they are creating more officials familiar with NFL rules if there were to be another lockout!

In all honesty, even if there had been no lockout we would be complaining about the referees. We would complain about calls we thought the regular referees missed and saying we could do a better job than them. Have we all forgotten this so soon?

Or, this controversial call.

Giants offense is playing like a** in the first half. Cruz & Bennett dropping passes, and the run blocking is pitiful. Right on the friggin' goal line and they can't punch it in.

Whew, I'm glad the boys started off strong this year and beating the Giants is just the topping. If this reflects the season for the Cowboys, they'll be a team to reckon with. The best part for me is that DeMarco Murray is turning into a absolute beast.

The run kept going a little longer after the video is over.

As much as people dislike the Cowboys, please... please, don't hate on Tony Romo, dude just demolished that Giants secondary. Tony Romo has been the best QB for Dallas in a good decade, and he is a good one... almost elite, well, at least as far as the stats go.

srsly though, he's a Jekyll-and-Hyde passer, not quite elite I'd say. Like last year, you had the epic comeback against the 49ers, then a colossal meltdown against a weak Lions' secondary just two weeks later. (How embarrassing is it to be picked off by Booby Carpenter, lawl>?) He's certainly not terrible by any means, I just think he's too mistake-prone.

The Giants dont exactly have a great defensive backfield. to put it in perspective the Giants last year had the 4th worst passing defense in the league statistically.

I'm not a fan of Romo either. He's a decent QB i just dont think he's elite or near elite. in my opinion he's tier 3 when it comes to NFL QBs.

Any ways i'm pumped for sunday. I think my Hawks will tear up the Cards. I think we'll be the surprise team of the league this year.

It sucks. A chance at a great season and I am going to miss a lot of it. I am in England and can't streamit for data limit reasons, so I am goin to miss it live. I have my dad recording it back in the states but I don't get back until December. At least I won't miss the playoffs because I know the Texans are making that.

The players all talk about their final goal. All of them waPdnt to win the super bowl and they all understand that first they must take care of business. Last season and this off season all they talk about is going 1-0 each week. 1-0 the first week, 1-0 the second week and so on and so on. They have a good mindset.

Man I am pumped for this year, I can't wait to see what they have in store for us fans.

Their secondary doesn't have to be elite. Their D-line is a f*cking force. And despite Dallas' poor O-line, Romo played really well considering the circumstances. I thought it was one of the better games he's had in a long, long time. They have some really tremendous assets at their skill positions. Once Witten is back to 100%, and with the emergence of Ogletree as their slot receiver...they're poised to make a serious run this year. I like their new corners as well, and their MLB's to go with Spencer and Ware on the outside round out a really solid D to compliment the offense.

I think Romo takes a lot of unwarranted criticism. You say he takes unneeded risks, but that's his game....right out of the Brett Favre mold.

I also thought the refs were halfway decent. They definitely were better than I expected. I imagine we'll see some major mistakes from them in the future. I just hope that if they're going to be bad...they'll at least be fair. And gtap hit the nail on the head...the regular refs sucked anyway. Haha.
