Is it Thursday yet? I need football info. I have been watching the same highlights over and over for my football fix.

RGIII is a better prospect (I think) than Cam, other than RGIII not winning the national championship at the college level he is a way better passer on tape compared to Newton in college. But then again, poor Griffith is most likely going to Washington... bless his soul.

lol poor guy doesnt stand a chance.

If I remember correctly everyone was saying the same thing about Cam Newton too before last season and he did very well setting a bunch of rookie records. I think RG3 will do big things for the redskins in 3-4 years.

f*ckin' Saints can't do anything right lately.

the shoe hasn't even finished dropping on the bounty scandal and now Mickey Loomis is being accused of using the communications lines at the Superdome to eavesdrop on the opposing team coaches microphones and headsets.

it apparently happened before their Super Bowl championship, but if it's true Loomis will be banned from the NFL for life.

That's it. f*ck the Saints. I thought that in a couple of years after this whole bounty thing, I would gain respect for them again, but that's too much now. Now I really have a team to f*cking despise in the NFL, other than the Raiders, Lions, and Cowboys of course. Funny how Gregg Williams went off about tearing ACL's, knocking a guy out who already has a concussion, etc. We still won the game, and knocked out your running back in the process. f*ck that team.

I think he was referring to RGIII playing with the Redskins organization, not really as a player. Carolina Panthers have made the playoff runs and better yet made a Super Bowl... Redskins on the other hand made the playoffs 5 years ago and made a run for a Super Bowl two decades ago. They just haven't had the greatest luck with QB's and when I thought they did, in Jason Campbell, that didn't fall through for them.

I heard on WFAN the only college players rated as high as Luck(in the past 30 years) were Lawrence Taylor and John Elway. Damn...that's serious company. No wonder he's labeled as a "sure thing".

As for the defending Super Bowl champs, they need help on the O-line, plus TE,LB & RB.

As much as everyone is pissed off about the bounty news it really does not bother me as much. So what if they gave bonuses to players on defense for going out and trying to inflict pain on opposing players. It's a violent sport? Don't tell me you don't like to watch a game with great tackling and hard hits. I mean common before long they will be playing in skirts and a bonnet. Just recently they also took away kickoffs for next season. What the hell is the NFL coming to? I wouldn't be surprised next season if they implement a rule to wear if you two hand touch the quarterback it counts as a sack.

As far as the saints eavesdropping on opposing coaches well that's different and they should be punished.

now the FBI is also looking into the Mickey Loomis eavesdropping allegations.

apparently if true, his actions might have even violated federal wiretapping laws.

so aside from being kicked out of the NFL he could face up to 5 years in prison.

So you are okay with people being paid extra to cause an injury?

Wow, just wow.

This is not a game where you purposely injure somebody, yeah you hit them hard but you don't purposefully injure them.

If they were paying players to take out an opponents legs 10 seconds after the play is over then yes that is very wrong but I see nothing wrong with a defensive player getting a bonus for putting in a strong performance and knocking someones block off. As a defensive player you mindset is to be violent and to impose your will on the other team. I mean honestly if your playing Tom Brady or Drew Brees or any other great QB isn't your goal as a defensive player to hit the quarterback and rough him up so he won't feel comfortable or has to leave the game. Your chances of winning go up greatly if you can hit the other team's star players. I by no means think its ok to go out there and try to end someone's career with a cheap shot but hitting someone hard and the management rewarding someone for a good defensive game is fine by me.

They're not trying to "put in a strong performance." Listen to the audio tape before the Niners game, they are purposely trying to injure players to demoralize and weaken the other team so they can beat them, instead of playing fair, clean, football. Playing clean doesn't mean you're a pansy. This is a clean hit. If this were the Saints they would be head hunting.

So what did people make of their team's first round draft picks?

Stephon Gilmore was a controversial choice but there's more happy Bills fans than sad one methinks. Gilmore did not look happy to be picked by the Bills though tounge.gif I love the suggested nickname for him I saw on Twitter: Not So Happy Gilmore.

I was so happy to see Ingram slip all the way to 18th. I thought he would go top 10 for sure, or at least to the Jets at 16th. The Chargers will have a killer pass rush this year!

Oh, and the Browns selecting Weeden was absolutely hilarious. A 28 year-old quarterback going in the first round. mercie_blink.gif

Giants addressed a need, drafting a RB in the first round. Don't know much about him though.

Cowboys trading up to get Morris Claiborne, easily one of or the best move of the draft. I was thrilled we picked this kid up, on paper we have a good looking secondary compared to last years already.

I also like Jags jumping up to get Blackmon. Gabbert needs a playmaker to throw to but I was almost certain the Rams were going to draft him, I'm guessing they didn't want to take a chance with him.

Always gonna be hard to replace a champion. Still hurts me he's gone. Never thought I'd see Manning play for anyone but the Colts.

However, can't wait to see Luck play his first game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

...And win his first Superbowl ring wink.gif

I like the Hawks pick with Irvin. We needed a speedy, tweener (half LB and half DE) that is specialized in rushing the passer. And Irvin fits that mold perfectly. And i dont get how people say his size will affect him. Robert mathis is his size and last i checked he's a perennial Probowler year in and year out.

I was shocked when the jags slipped up to get blackmon. I was thinking he would still be there for the rams to pick, but oh well. I was hoping Floyd would still be there but the cardinals took him. Brockers is kind of a "meh" pick, we'll have to see how he does. The 2nd round is going to be a huge one for the rams since they have 3 of the first 13 picks. if they get another lineman or a guard instead of stephen hill i'm gonna be pissed.

Yeah, I think the Irvin pick is definitely a little underrated. A lot of people don't understand that Seattle runs an unbalanced 4-3 defense, which will result in him playing linebacker, not defense end like so many are speculating.

My only qualm with the pick was how early they got him. They could have traded into the late first-round and EASILY got him. They probably could have even waited until the second round, which would have allowed them to pick Ingram at 15th and then picked Irvin at 43rd. Ingram & Irvin on the same defense = cool.gif

The Texans pics are pretty cool.

Whitney Mercilus will probably be a rotational Olb to help rest Connor Barwin and Brooks Reed until he can maybe push for a starting gig. Devier Posey was a bit of a surprise but once I looked into it more he ain't bad, especially for third round pick. Sat out ten games his senior season for bullsh*t, selling a Ohio State ring for money for his mom. He also got "overpaid" at a job. His route running is apparently good which is key in our offense.

Brandon Brooks at first seemed like he would not fit our zone blocking scheme since he is 345 pounds but he apparently ran a 4.98 40. That's ridiculous. He has speed to go with ridiculous size, though he probably will be asked to drop some weight.

We may pick up another receiver.

the issue with trading down is the risk. Supposedly several other teams had interest in Irvin including San Fran. Plus they probably had an issue trading down.

With the 2nd and 3rd round picks in, i'm so far very happy with the Hawks draft so far. Nabbing Russell Wilson was a great move. He'll bring some more competition in and with his speed and atheticism i could see us using him for some more trick plays ala the Sidney Rice 50 yard bomb to Big Mike Williams last season.

Seems like a very strong draft for many teams... I like what the Vikings have done this offseason.

I know better then to question Jerry Reese but I am a little confused by some of the players he has drafted so far. As of now, I can't really justify drafting a cornerback who is several inches shorter then me and only a few pounds heavier..

Being an Ohio State fan we played Wisconsin annually and I've watched Russell play. He could surprise and be a decent QB. He's a solid backup this year and maybe next but If he gets a chance to play he could be your guy down the road.

Now where to begin with the Broncos draft.... Lets see first we trade down twice to grab Derrick Wolfe (DT) that we needed but probably would have been there in the 3rd then we grab Brock Osweiler (QB) when we should have grabbed a WR for Peyton Manning to play with. I like our 3rd round pick in Ronnie Hillman, he reminds me of Darren Sproles and played very well for San Diego State in his two year tenure there. Lastly Omar Bolden (CB) could be a steal for us. Being injured his entire senior year hurt his draft stock and he was thought of as a top 3 corner before the injury.

I'm convinced the FO is clueless because our first 2 draft picks were reaches and we also let the Patriots rape us in our first trade. I guess we will have to see how all of them pan out before I call it a failure.

Yeah, the Broncos may have slightly reached on all of those picks with the exception of Bolden, who I wanted the Bolts to draft if he would have slid into the 5th. I also liked Ronnie Hillman, although I think the Sproles comparisons are way overblown. It seems like any running back around 5'8 is automatically compared to Sproles nowadays.

As for the Chargers, I'm pretty excited about their picks. I've already said that I love the Ingram pick and I love our 2nd round pick too, Kendall Reyes. He should come in on 3rd downs in place of our starting right DE, Vaughn Martin, to provide some much-needed pass pressure. Our 3rd round pick, Brandon Taylor, I'm more on the fence about. Trading up for him wasn't worth it, as there were plenty of comparable safeties that we could have waited for. I really liked our 4th round pick, LaDarius Green, though. He's a 6'6 TE with 4.5 speed, so I have no idea why he didn't go higher. In the 5th we picked up Johnnie Troutman, an OG who looks decent. And in the 7th we picked up David Molk. The ESPN analysts really liked that pick so hopefully he can take over starting center duties when Hardwick eventually retires.

So year, I think this was a good draft for the Chargers. I'm no expert, though. tounge2.gif

That is the buckeyes right?

What do you know about DeVier Posey? It was kind of a headscratcher at first but when ideas into him I like what I see.

This draft is amazing. The Texans have now gotten rid of Jacoby Jones. Stupid punt dropping bastard.

Yes, THE Ohio State Buckeyes lol.

Anyway about Posey he could very well be a good slot or #2 WR but I just can't see him being a team's go to guy or #1. Fortunately he has Andre Johnson on the other side of him so with the way he draws double teams could free up Posey to make some big plays. I've watched guys like Santanio Homles, Anthony Gonzalez, Michael Jenkins, and Jake Ballard in recent years and Posey is probably somewhere in the middle of that group with Holmes being the best WR to come out of OSU in some time.

@ interpolfan: The Chargers had a very good draft and Ingram/Reyes are going to be a good combo. I think the bolts really did this move to try and put some pressure on Peyton Manning now that hes with my Broncos. All in all the Bolts probably had the best draft of any AFC West team.

In the 2010 draft people said the Hawks reached with most of their picks. Now they got Two probowl safeties, a starting CB, a stud LT, and a good WR.

You cant truly judge a draft until three or four years after wards.
