SIKKS66
Not living in the US, I don't get to hear big updates about my Bills team unless I seek them out (thank fook for the Bleacher Report app on my phone). Was surprised to read about the Williams deal a few days back. Great move, that defence is looking mean as hell. Just have to hope they stay fit. Can't wait to see who gets drafted Tebow was criticised for being too undisciplined and wild last season, particularly in the playoffs when his inexperience showed. Manning will be a great mentor for the younger QB. He will take Tebow to the next level while being a cooler head in the pocket in those important games. El Dildo
since whoever moderates this forum decided to simply lock my thread instead of merging it with the proper one (like a good moderator would have done) I guess I'll just copy/paste it here now. in case you haven't heard...http://espn.go.com this is insane. so much for Tebow mania yeah? his ass is outta' here. they don't even want to keep him as the backup, they're already shopping offers. right now the preliminary Manning talks are around 5 years / $95Million. which would make him like 41 years old at the end of the deal. but of course 40 is the new 35 at least, especially for professional athletes with the best medical care on Earth. my dad lives in Greenwood Village, Colorado which is literally 5 minutes away from the Bronco's training facility. I'm gonna' go visit him soon to watch Peyton work out during the public practices. sh*t's gonna' be like Mardi Gras atmosphere. Tebow has potential but he was a bit wild and undisciplined last season. Manning could be a great mentor. I agree with you about Tebow.they should keep him behind Manning, it would be perfect for his future career and for Denver. I'm not sure what Denver or Tebow (or other teams that could sign him) have to gain right now from trying to implement a sub-par quarterback into a traditional NFL passing offense. if another team signed Tebow this year they'd have a better chance of setting him up as an offensive weapon like a running back. interpolfan11
Am I the only won who thinks that Manning is crazy for going to the Broncos rather than the 49ers? Now fricking Manning is in my beloved Bolts' division, but I'm not too worried since the Bolts tend to play to their competition. Nick Foster
Well, this isn't the way i hoped it would pan out. Manning obviously signed with the Broncos because they paid him more, and he didn't have to face his brother in the Conference championship game. Shame really, how money and personal feelings trump winning, with Manning signing with the Broncos rather than the Niners. Now we're in deep trouble, with Smith irked at Baalke for trying to chase him out of town for Manning. If Smith doesn't come back next year, Colin Kaepernick better learn quick. tubbs51
Manning is the key to Elway getting rid of Tebow. I think he'll be traded or cut. And will eventually sign with the Jaguars. El Dildo
Am I the only won who thinks that Manning is crazy for going to the Broncos rather than the 49ers? nah I think you're right. San Fran has a better chance of winning the Super Bowl tomorrow than the Broncos. but more than anything I think Peyton made his choice between a combination of where he feels comfortable AND where he has a decent chance of winning. I'm thinking Jim Harbaugh makes Manning more uncomfortable than John Fox. Manning obviously signed with the Broncos because they paid him more I'm sorry but this is just dead wrong. if you do a little research you'll find that his potential offers would have been the same no matter where he wound up. it's going to be about 20Million a year because that's about what he was getting from the Colts and it would put him on par with other top free-agents. it's pretty standard what each team was offering. he wasn't going to get much more or less if he ended up with another team than Denver. his decision was not about the money. Capricornus
I also feel that the 49ers would have been a better fit. I guess that Peyton did not want to be in a situation that would possibly lead up to him eliminating his own brother for Superbowl contention. Maybe he would rather face him in the superbowl, if he makes it there? Anyway, I am sure that Peyton has his reasons alongside of the whole John Elway thing. Peyton to the 49ers would have changed the balance of power in the NFC, and made SF the favorites to win the Super Bowl. From everything I've read, what you said about Peyton not wanting to face Eli in a conference championship is true. Plus, Peyton wanted to stay in the AFC, being more familiar with those teams. As more my Super Bowl champion Giants, we lost Jacobs, Manningham and now Aaron Ross who signed with Jacksonville. Such is life in the NFL. You can't keep everybody. It wasn't going to happen in NY, with Nicks and Cruz the primary targets. I'll miss him - dude made some BIG catches in the playoffs, the biggest in the Super Bowl. Right now, Jerry Reese can do no wrong. I'm sure he'll find another running back to complement Bradshaw. I think we have a couple of young backs already. Now they get a chace to prove themselves. Unfortunately, Tebowmania will not die. He'll probably go to Jacksonville or Miami. He's considered a god in Florida. When Peyton was playing for my Colts, he really turned Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon into some nice recievers. Before that we didn't really know who they were. I think it'd be great if Dallas Clark and Jeff Saturday were to join Manning in Denver, but maybe its a long shot. I fail to see who on earth will try to pick up Curtis Painter, even as a third string QB lmao. Funktipus
Breaking news from WFAN: Broncos traded Tebow to the Jets for a 4th round pick. Dumb Jets. I wouldn't give up a 7th round pick for that dude. This wasn't a football move. The Jets braintrust can't get over the Giants beating them and going on to win the Super Bowl. They hate being second to Big Blue. The Tebow move is all about publicity, headlines and selling tickets/jerseys. Tebow isn't all that, but he's extremly popular and generates buzz. Woody Johnson(the Jets owner) wants that. The NFL has suspended Sean Payton for a year. Tebow is an awful QB who benefitted from stubborn defensive coordinators not just playing coverage and putting a spy on him. He's effectively the equivalent of the wildcat formation in 2008, a gigantic fad that only worked due to defensive coordinators' temporary incompetence. This is also horrible for Tebow because the Jets can't develop quarterbacks for sh*t. With this whole bounty thing, I wonder if his image will be tarnished a bit. Tebow going to the Jets, not thay good of a move. Now they have two crappy QB's for Santonio Holmes to get pissed with. I know they feel he can ease the tension in the locker room and help with Wildcat offenses, but he's just a sh*tty QB. Waste of money. At least he will fill in the seats and sell those jerseys. El Dildo
my home team is the St. Louis Rams (I currently live/work in Denver) and we also got some sh*tty news in the latest cycle. Payton may have been suspended for the entire year, but our new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams (suspected orchestrator of the bounty) was suspended immediately and indefinitely; which means he may never coach again and we'll have to get a new D coordinator already. what a wild day. If the offense is as good as it was in the first five games of last season, the Bills could easily go deep in the playoffs. Funktipus
The Tebow trade has hit a snag. The Jets didn't read the fine print. I'm glad to hear that he's back on board with the 49ers and not too upset about the Peyton Manning debacle. It was only natural for his team to pursue one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and it's impressive that Smith was mature enough to understand that. Although I'm sure Smith is no stranger to adversity due to all that discussion about him being a bust. And as I said earlier, this is a stupid trade for the Jets who should be signing weapons for Sanchez rather than bulking up on mediocre quarterbacks.
