I already feel EA is going down soon. Well maybe they will survive until 2014, or maybe they will survive even longer, since people still buy their games. Who knows. Time will tell.

They won't. Their sports franchise are still going massively strong, and responsible for most of the money that comes in. FIFA13 sold 12 million copies.

I haven't even considered this would be a problem but it seems it's possible for people to mess with other people's cities with a bit of hacking. Note: the video only shows the guy demonstrating that this was possible, and he has not enabled syncing with servers so nobody's city was actually wrecked.

I think it's funny that the owner of a city in that video actually commented on the video saying what he thought about it. tounge.gif

That's true. But since trade ports are locked in the beginning, you will just need to build more trade depots. I also had four of these, selling my fuel and all the excess crude oil I produced.

After a while, when I unlocked things, I changed my industry a little to sell processors, after that I went with TV's and changed my imports/exports according to what I need and what I can sell. Now I'm barely producing any crude oil anymore, since I'm running out of it anyways. What I do is: I import crude oil and alloy (the latter is quite expensive, but worth it). The crude oil I use to create plastic, for the processor and TV manufacturing. Now all I sell are excess processors and TV, and trust me these things will give you more money than anything else.

It does take a lot of tweaking though throughout the game to find he best balance of trading, you won't make a lot of profit in the beginning. But at some point you get the hang out of it and know what to do, and then you'll just be swimming in money. colgate.gif

+1 this indeed seems to be the best way to make money, i have a residential/industry city with high education and i rake up about 8 million a day selling tv's processors and some metal

Is there an alternative to this game? Good gameplay and graphics and no need for internet connection, origin or steam?

citiesXL or tropico 4. tropico 4 has 3rd party launcher DRM similar to Uplay but im not sure if the DRM is always online DRM. CitiesXL uses steam DRM but the game is massively broken and the dev have not fixed the game for 3 years. the game only runs on a single core and in my experience lags out after 1 to 2 hours of playing. its even impossible to play at all once you have a big enough city. anno 2070 is a similar game just set in 2070 and also have 3rd party launcher + Uplay. if you want a game that has no internet connection and no DRM then i don't think there is one.. at least with good graphics.

It's only a placeholder. With placeholder latin and placeholder pictures.

But it was known that there will be more DLC eventually, so I'm not sure how this is any surprising.

That's pretty funny. We know they use JavaScript for the UI and stuff. Totally funny if the whole thing was a Joomla backend.

Hey guys I think I may give this a try and buy it. But I cant decide between getting the limited edition or deluxe edition. Is the deluxe edition worth the extra $20?

And also, How do i see my system specs so I know if I can even run it?

The newer Cities XL 2013 (which is an add on pack for 2012 or 2011, whatever it was) apparently fixed the core problem.

All in all, regardless of the how broken Cities XL is, and how shoddy/cheap it is, the city designing aspects of the game are far superior to SimCity.

I used to have Cities XL, the original version, it lagged on my high end PC with low settings after my cities got a population of around 500,000. And every single one of my cities suffered the save glitch, corrupting my save data. Totally wiped everything. Surprisingly, the people on the Cities XL forums didn't try to defend the game and actually acknowledge the problem was due to terrible development. The 2013 version apparently also fixed the save glitch.

Check canyourunit.com i'm sure you should be able to though. You can play the game whatever version you get, The landmarks in the DLC cost 500.000 simoleons but the London buses are the only item that really gives you boost compared to the police station and highspeed rail as the buses have 20 more capacity than the standard ingame ones.

I just made a second montage video finally managed to build a space center smile.gif also in the second clip in the video the flagpole flag turns into a sim at a certain angle not sure if it's a bug or just an easter egg!

CitiesXL has some nice visuals, but SimCity 4 would be the best option if you are looking for a city simulator, provided you can look past the dated graphics.

Both games have a very strong modding community, and Simcity 4 is still considered the definitive city simulator game. Nothing since SC4 has even come close, despite the fact it's such a beloved genre.

I did check canyourunit and they didn't have t on there so maybe I will look again.

Well I tested it and it says my CPU and Video Card arent up to the minimum requirements sad.gif That sucks so I guess I'm just going to stick to SC4 lol

it didn't fix for me sadly. i upgraded to the 2013 version and it still lags after awhile.

if thats true then you should probably go for a computer upgrade since you won't be able to play any new games.

Well I don't play any PC games other than SC4 and some really old ones. so getting an upgrade would be a complete waste. So I will just skip this SimCity.

CitiesXL 2013 still has the same old code from CitiesXL 2011. They only re released it to get some sales from the SimCity hype, hence why the game released just a few weeks before SC.

Still doens't have any multicore support, so cities will still start to heavily lag after a while, and big cities are still unplayable.

Did you get the email from EA yet? I haven't received mine.

Kind of a crappy list...but I guess that was to be expected. I had half hoped they would have include some Sims expansions.

Crappy? Most of those games are $40 plus. Sure Medal of Honor, Plants vs zombies and bejeweled 3 and Sim City are either old or sh*t, but rest are games that are pretty good.

Yeah, I guess I just kind of spoke from a personal level and having most of those games already. I was actually surprised to see Dead Space 3 and Mass Effect 3 on the list.

I sure as hell hope they aren't bound to our Origin accounts because I can just give the code to my wife in case she doesn't have Bejeweled 3.
