I made a short video on Carl Sagan

You guys just editing other peoples work together? I appreciate the work gone in the the OP's video and it's Carl Sagan but I wouldn't throw the words, my video or even short video especially when it's just editing someone elses art together and using someone elses music.

Sorry, if I'm coming across harshly. I don't mean to.

Not my video? Then who's is it? no ones? If not mine then you must be saying it's no ones because I use material from a variety of owners, and you can't just call one of those people the owner of my video can you? Now I may not own the original footage and artwork, but I put it together, added the audio, and even modified that too. So the video itself- the video I displayed- is mine.

I swear you are making a claim you even know is absurd.

Basically, what I'm saying is you are using other people's footage to create your video. Your topic title suggest you made the video. No, just just did some editing of others videos. You're apart of youtube generation where you think editing other peoples work together suddenly makes it your own. I was being nice when I said I appreciate the editing you done on the video. No need to sound snappy man. Also, there's a video production topic. smile.gif

Sorry, but it is annoying to be told that I did not make the video, despite all the work I did making it. I don't think you understand what it is to "make a video." But I don't think you care about that. All you care about is that I don't own every piece of content in the video, and you're saying that I cannot say I made it because of that.

I'm glad you appreciate the editing, but I do not appreciate your own definition of "making a video" you are throwing at me.

OK, I'm glad we're having a grown-up discussion about this. I do appreciate the hard work to do the edit you did. I'd like to be able do something like that myself.

However, If I was posting the video, I would have posted something like Check Out This Video Edit I Done because essentially you were editing an existing video therefore the video wasn't made by you but you did edit the video, ya know?

If you see it from the perspective of the actual video producer. If you spent hours of hard work producing a video and then someone took that video and edited it and was calling it their own, you wouldn't be the happiest.

Yes, you can call it your video if you like. That's your choice. Morally and out of respect to the people that actually shot it, I personally wouldn't do that.

The material used wasn't from one video. it was from a series of videos, and not everything had the same author. The images I used came from around the web. Some were created from people on deviantart, and some, like the background, were just created so people could use it as wallpaper. I didn't just use content from Cosmos. I used images from various authors. You can't credit one person. I dont know why you don't see this.
