Is it as simple as it looks?

Helena, the wife of Anthony is found dead after she jumps from a raised ground. The people close to her are shocked to find that she is dead. However, when her body mysteriously disappears, it is suspected that the suicide is not as simple as it looks.

Ian Turner, a police officer who is just thinking about leaving the job, gets the call about the suicide and is tied up with Micheal to investigate. However, when he finds out that it's Helena who has committed the suicide, he suddenly changes his mind and says he wants to take the case.

Find out the mystery behind Helena's suicide as you follow the mind boggling story by playing the mission pack.

Nice introduction.

I don't get the story yet, but it's just the intro.

I like the multi-protagonist (or however you spell it) thing.

I'm curious how this is going to continue so I 'll play the next missions for sure.

The story is a bit complex and I wanted to add more, but then the objective limit wouldn't have given space. Also it's better not to confuse you with the intro itself by it having a lot of confusing story in it, so decided to keep it simple. Well, at least I tried my best to make it simple because I believe there are some things you MAY be still confused with. tounge.gif

 

EDIT: The story will start to be more clearer in the later missions.

Yep,

 

I don't know who the dead woman is.

I don't know how the officer 'll be involved in the story.

At least I think he's a part of the story...

And you didn't explain who Andrew (or something like that) is.

The dead woman is actually Anthony's (not Andrew) wife. I guess it wasn't clear in the mission.

 

About the officer's role... well, you will find more about that in the future mission.

 

I will update the main post with all the necessary information tomorrow. That will give you all the information about the mission pack that I can give without spoiling the story. That will make some things more clearer.

 

Also I will try to start and finish the next mission tomorrow.

Played the 2nd & 3rd missions.

 

Wow, it was like a detective mission series. Nice job. A very good case and it makes me confused. I didn't see the footsteps at the first 10 seconds. lol.gif

 

I loved the race and the route. It's very nice. I liked the idea: placed object on the car and hide it. Great idea. The car that John used is really fast, though(it makes more interesting).

 

The part when Anthony is hit by the truck is great! It amazed me. A very good scene you made.

 

There were a twin Anthony in the 3rd mission(when Luke is coming).

Glad to hear that you liked the 'car hit by a truck' scene. biggrin.gif It took a lot of trial and error to get the timing such that they hit each other. Even then, when I was bug testing the mission, out of four times, it missed to hit once.

 

Completely unrelated to your feedback, but that was one of the parts that caused some delay otherwise this mission would have been released last Tuesday. First, I had actually given freedom for the player to choose the car they liked, then I realised that it was impossible to make the car crash scene because the player could have used any possible car, so I had to change the 'freedom of choice' part by adding a car objective. Then I realised that I couldn't hide an objective car, so I had to focus the cutscene such a way that the objective car couldn't be seen. On top of that, I had to have a perfect timing of the car crash scene, so that both the truck and car actually crashes. All these made me not complete the mission on Tuesday and then after that, I had been too busy until yesterday.

 

About the twin Anthony, the problem is that I didn't hide the first Anthony before he goes to the flashback. I thought he would have fallen down to nowhere after I had teleported the player away from that interior. He was not there when I tested it. Thanks for reporting that bug. Going to fix it. icon14.gif

As you saw, this mission took the usual suicide-to-murder path, but there is still more to the story with twists ahead and you will see that it is not a simple murder story.

I have to admit that this chapter is mainly story oriented with less gameplay as it forms the basis of the whole MP, probably 5 chapters.

 

I am going to update the main post with all the minor characters and make some changes later.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I will be taking a break of a couple of days from designing and will be playing some of the mission packs. So you can expect the first mission of chapter 2 after Monday. I hope I get enough feedback by then.

Oh my godness.

 

This is absolutely one of the best mission series I've played. You have a great story. The missions were a bit difficult because of all that investigating, like in mission 4, but that is just what I like. It took a long time for me to find that bullet. Your dialogues are great, they remind me of some police series from TV. Of course it's hard to say anything more from these 4 missions, but it's just awesome. Great job.

I played the first 4 missions. The investigations were awesome. I loved the cutscene in which Helena commited suicide.

In the 3 rd mission, the cutscenes were nice. Try to add the checkpoints far away from the other checkpoints. Try to increase the length of the cutscenes. The story is really awesome and I'm waiting for more missions.

The cutscenes, I used a mixture of 4 seconds and 5 seconds. I will stick to 5 seconds next time.

 

The reason I added the checkpoints closer was that the player can't just cross across the field and is forced to stick to the path.

this is the best mission pack i ever played! I loved the storyline. the mission hard, because you don't use any marker for the objective, but i like it. And i like when the truck hit the car.

Played 'em, and I'm quite impressed. Great work. How did you have the objective marker on the map, and still you could do a conversation between characters? Is it some sort of bug?

The conversation with marker is not a bug. It's a small trick. Here's how it is done:

 

Add a car objective, set it to 'must destroy' and give it a health of 100. That way it will auto destruct itself. Choose the marker and add the conversation dialogue as objective description. Continue adding the car objectives with each of the dialogue. That way the objective car will spawn showing the dialogue, auto destruct thereby completing the objective and a new objective car will spawn showing the next dialogue and it continues like that. If you check the ground near the checkpoint carefully you will actually notice that it has that black spot which is usually left after the car explodes.

 

The advantage of using this method over time out objective is that the player does not have to wait until all the conversation is complete before they can actually know where exactly they have to go.

 

Also another good thing is that the destroyed cars hide themselves so there is no mess left behind and also the time it takes the car to destroy is appropriate for reading the dialogues. Not too long, not too short.

 

One thing that you have to be careful about is that the whole conversation should not be too long such that the player is going to reach the destination before the conversation ends otherwise they will be surprised by the exploding cars haha.

 

Credits also goes to Doublepulse because I was inspired by his 'malfunctioning GPS' trick he used in Cold Year which is a very similar trick to this.
