From “GTA 5 Will be 20x bigger than SA” to more serious and thought-out rumours, oh yeah and you know what, they’re some of the worst rumours, I’ve ever seen in my life. On behalf of the gaming community we have scoured the distant shores of the Internet and back to find some of the worst and most laughable GTA 5 rumours. 5. “The GTA 5 Map” This image lived in about 10 hours of internet fame, with many people quickly pointing to a Photoshop, a cross between a San Andreas Map and the UI from GTA IV. Not only did the it cause a huge e-storm, but many people thought Rockstar North would reveal other information, after this image went around, as well as this a huge bunch of people from Reddit thought it was a viral marketing from Rockstar. The image was confirmed fake within hours of appearing on nearly every Gaming News site. 4. “Ingame image” Doesn’t this look awfully familiar to GTA IV, I wonder why… Seems like someone has done the ‘ole Photoshop on a GTA Screen and adjusted the contrast and brightness to similar levels to the GTA 5 trailer. Literally, within seconds the image, was proven to be fake, not only that but some people must have a lot of time on their hands. They must think, it’s “right” to post images and speculate on rumours when, no other information comes their way… Luckily, someone on a Gaming forum kindly capped the area where it was taken and with categoric proof, proved the image was indeed fake. 3. “The Reddit Leak” Now with loads of rumours appearing, it was Reddit’s turn to get on to act. Many Users posted supposed leaked information saying how, “GTA would be realistic” and it would be set in Liberty City. Guess, what happened the trailer went live and once again it was confirmed to be incorrect, although some aspects were true, luckily enough for them. 2. “4Chan Leak” Perhaps this was the one that could be the most plausible rumour of them all, with detailed points that only a Rockstar employee could know.As well, it features all the game mechanics we wanted, as a community. To good to true, is the old saying and this is a good example of when the quote applies. When, I first heard the rumour, I was already won over it by it, I expect quite a lot of people were too , he made it seems to plausible which added to the suspense. Even, if he was a real Rockstar employee he sure did know quite a lot – knowing Rockstar,they would change date of trailer just to troll him :Trollface.jpg: Despite all the build up, the first GTA 5 trailer went live and the story dropped off the Internet within seconds, still it achieved around two weeks in the minds of all the community and it was posted on numerous news sites. 1. “GTA 5 1899?” Even, when Rockstar release the official GTA 5 logo there was much speculation of Rockstar would go back to the 1900′s, which was around the time of Red Dead Redemption. More importantly, this was because of the mysteriously shaped Logo, the Logo features a five dollar bill that was first introduced in 1899. To date we don’t know why Rockstar included it in the Logo; we’ll have to wait and see for the second Trailer. As always, when ever you here a Rumour you have to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the most popular genres of games ever, will release this fiscal year and with that is some kid trying to get some e-fame. I don't think they'd set it in the early 20th century when the cars were slower and the radio stations were less common. Red Dead Redemption is pretty much that game anyway. ainsz Posted February 15, 2012 Share Posted February 15, 2012 At the time of the whole 5 dollar rumour, as it had an image of an Indian on it, I believed it was connected to indian gaming i.e. gambling and thus the game would be set in Las Venturas. Before the GTA V reveal I already thought the game would be set in Los Santos, so I thought the game could be set in all of San Andreas again or atleast Los Santos and Las Venturas. Of course, Rockstar could have just gone in search of a five dollar note that happened to have a V on it to fit in with the GTA roman numeral theme and to also tie in the games plot ("in pursuit of the almighty dollar"). And to be fair, that one wasn't really a rumour in first place but mere speculation, from a time when literally nothing was known about GTA V. This far in development, it simply wouldn't work and could potentially get the release date pushed back.
