HydraulicWaRiOr Posted February 15, 2012 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Because 2 different parts of R* are working on Max Payne 3 and we guess that they are using the logic of "Max Payne is more important because we started it first" And now they're just trying to get as many profits on the game as possible so they don't want to direct attention to Grand Theft Auto because they believe that mere information could screw up Max Payne sales for some reason. [OBEY] That is a popular idea. Although a little info. here or there about GTA V wouldn't change someones mind on whether or not to purchase MP3. Since V insn't going to be release until fall of this year at the earliest, R* will be advertising heaviest in spring(April/May) on T.V. commercials and other media. This will inform and remind everyone that Max Payne is worth paying attention to and playing. I don't see MP3 effecting V much at all. Well, it does when they release a trailer for their most popular game and only talk about their other one for 7 months. Max Payne is only in the way of GTA V. But we have to emphasise that R* has clearly stated that the community won't be recieving any information for a while, and the last time they did this, the announcement came like 2 days later, so we most definitely expect something for February. Other than that, we only want information about the protagonist, after that, we will be satisfied until the game comes out, so far this is the only thing that makes us anxious about this information prohibition. If Take Two is in the business of making profits for it's shareholders, why would they even waste their time on Max Payne 3? Max Payne is a great series, that's why. Although, GTA would still probably generate more profit, Rockstar does develop other games of quality. I pretty much buy anything released by Rockstar. GTA being my favorite franchise from them. No matter how and when MP3 development started it clearly never got that much hype even when it was announced. The only reason for MP3 early release is early development and perhaps to display advanced RAGE engine to its splendid that will surely attract hardcore Max Payne Fans since MP3 and GTA both differ in concept. Why should I complain for MP3 release before GTA 5? Since MP3 will bring back a solid action game back in the market which will also feature many trend setting gameplay elements in the hype of other big titles. In one of the early GTA 5 interviews July 2011 Brendan McNamara gives a big hint for delaying GTA 5 by planning MotionScan face-scanning technology for the next GTA game. Given the scale and amount of characters GTA 5 will host it won't be an easy release until 2013 April/March. But rather speculating I feel (very strongly) that R* will release the next trailer pre-packed with MP3 Game and the bonus elements for GTA 5 for pre-ordering by buying MP3. If R* plans to fish in some great moolah with live bait (GTA 5 release date) this is definitely make you cringe for MP3 as it has been proven earlier and as is one of the most effective ways of marketing (dun't remember who started this trend but it has been and a very successful one!). Its a general rule of thumb in marketing for hiding facts/delay in developments - When everything else fails, fishing with live bait is often the strategy that saves the day and put ...it simply a clear winner! They have nothing to do with one another except that they are owned by the same parent company. As I understand it, Take-Two couldn't tell Rockstar North to sit on a finished game so it won't interfere with their other investments; GTA isn't being pushed back because of MP3. Other titles are great if theyre delivered in less than 4 years, and without plundering tons of other studio resources (one of those R* satellite studios will I think close this year). I think OP has his head screwed on fine, theres nothing fanboy about his question. A lot of games studios are badly managed, and this is why everyones even having this conversation. What youre ssaying is true about new products and diversity, but now people are pissed off with the GTA situation, all because of a game that isnt even going to make a dent in what it lost T2.
