"Fun" Cheat Codes vs. Realism

GTA IV and GTA V are completely different generation games from that of PS2 as you all are well aware. Now Rockstar is going more for the "realistic" game instead of the GTA's we saw on PS2. Because of this I just see it very unlikely we see most of those cheats appear back in GTA V. I think we end up seeing an end product similar to GTA IV in regards to cheat codes.

I do believe they will give us a few extra with GTA V however. They hear the criticism from fans that GTA IV wasn't very fun. They do hear those things and will most likely try to increase that fun factor. The old GTA's were still fun after story-mode because of the long list of cheat codes. However I just don't see ALL of them returning, but possibly a small percentage. This of course on top of the most obvious codes for health, car spawning, wanted level on/off, etc.

The one I hope to see return is the "riot" cheat where all the ped's attack you. With this generation graphics and the ped's as improved as they will be in GTA V it's extremely tempting to imagine the I Am Legend scenes that could unfold with that cheat. Not to mention i'd love to go killing "Walkers" with a hatchet.

that's why you should never buy games like GTA for a console.

they're always way better on PC because of the capability that modding offers.

because of mods, GTA 4 on PC is way more fun than it could ever be on PS or Xbox.

plus some of those mods are the fun cheats you're talking about.

like the ingame trainers and such.

True that. GTA: San Andreas is much better on the PC then the PS2!

On topic: I don't think R* will let realism get in the way of cheat codes. Cheat codes are meant to give the game more spice. I at least hope the riot cheat comes back.

Due to gtaIV lacking in the fun cheats that we are all familiar with like in San Andreas was maybe due to it being the first game in the next-gen gaming, now that they got it out of the way, this will be the game with all the epic cheats, planes, etc.. I hope. wink.gif

You're right.

We need the fun cheats to come back, but I hope they don't let us save the game. A system similar to RDR's.

I want to earn all my money and spend it on guns to do missions. The cheats in IV were necessary because you had a health bar rather than the 'CoD-style' healing system. If V uses what RDR used, then I'm sure the game will be much fun.

Don't forget that TBoGT had some "fun" cheats included.

Explosive punch and sniper!

So it's a head in the right direction icon14.gif

There should never ever be health regen in gta. It would ruin the difficulty and multiplayer, unless they make you die in 2 shots and you are unable to regen when in cover.

OT: Peds riot, peds have guns, gangs rule the streets and flying cars should come back.

And what about RDR? If there is anything about GTA, it's the assload of cheats that make it a little more unique. GTA IV was experimental, they have no doubt got a hold of the HD era and will probably add as many cheats as RDR had. Other than that, you know nothing about Rockstar.

Anybody else miss beating people up with dildos?

Now imagine doing it in a realistic setting. Epic.

I just want the peds weapons/riot mode back. What he said^^^^

To be honest, no. After SRTT made such a big deal about it the novelty is no longer funny IMO.

The floating cars cheat in VC was amazing, especially turning the Rhino turret backwards and continuously firing to see how high you could get!

Saints row sucks.

Indeed, Saint's Row sucks, and Realism wins the battle, but how about both?

That is what Grand Theft Auto always had.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that certain cheats are realistic? Because, no they f*cking aren't. Nobody in real life can enter a number in on a cellphone and have a car appear out of thin air in front of them? Nobody has a wanted down or weather cheat, and definitely no one has a weapons cheat. So why the hell can't we have crazy and difficulty altering (health money etc.) again? They warp reality any ways, so why not warp in in crazy ways? And it's not like any one is forced to use them. Most of you simply create a separate save file. Cheats are never realistic, that's why they're so awesome. Because bending reality to my will is awesome.

I remember allways using cheat codes on the old GTA's but when I baught the 360 I decided to quit using cheats and thankfully I have quite a good imadgination and it doesn't take me long to think of new things to do on GTA IV but I can see how bland IV could become for people who aren't as quick at imadgining up new things to do. I do hope that there is a larger selection of cheats but not for me, for the people who want them, as it would end up with a lower percentage of people disliking V compared to IV.

You can mod on the 360.

AHEM!?? **Micro$oft taps foot**

I'm sorry, do I give a f*ck you are standing there? you've clearly made it well known that modding on GTA IV is OK!

Things can be 'realistic' in many ways. While GTA IV as a whole is highly unrealistic, the story can in some ways be seen as realistic. Imo it wasn't the ''realism'' that made GTA IV boring nor was it the more serious tone the story had. As a matter of fact, it was BETTER with a more serious and dark story. But that doesnt mean that everything else has to be that way.

Thing is, almost all missions were about going somewhere, killing someone and return back. You earned huge amounts of money and still you had no way to spend them because the game was focused on 'a poor immigrant'. Then you was it possible to earn all this money? It never made sense, Its restricting. Funny fact is, that at the same time Niko was complaining all the time that he had no money when he in fact could be walking around with millions on the street.

There was no nightclubs, no dancing minigames, no parachute, no countryside, no aeroplanes, no casino's, no proper bars, no ability to mod cars - or even change to the color you want, lack of clothes, no ability to go to the barber, no ability to go to get tatoos, no ability to gain muscle, fat, sex appeal. No ability to take over blocks, no proper gang wars, a huge amounts of weapons were striped away from SA and previous games, no ability to buy business, no golf, almost no parking space for cars....accompanied with some really repetetive missions, and some kind of fisheye lens that makes the environment (especially buildings) seems to change size when you move around the camera. I guess it was added in order to make the city feel 'bigger' and the player 'smaller', giving an illusion that you're in a really big city.

But it didnt just feel right. I felt stupid. Some of the 'GTA FEELING' I still today feel in games like GTA3, SA, VC, LCS, isnt really there just now.

Sure, GTA IV was a HUUUUGE leap forward, but it wasnt what I expected really. It was like one step forward and two steps back. They should have kept the story dead serious but at the same time giving the player choice and freedom outside of the missions instead of being like ''Uh, you're SUPPOSED to be a poor immigrant so we cant let you spend money''

Remember what Rockstar said about the countryside prior to IV's release? That it was ''waste of space'', yet we see it return in gta V. Some of the things they never did in GTA IV was back in TBoGT.. regarding TBoGT, it was an awesome game, but the missions were imo sometimes over the top. I think its important to see the diffrent between realistic features INGAME and in the story.

Yeah I was well annoyed you couldn't buy anything bar a fairly poor selection of clothes. I loved buying businesses in VC and SA, especially the Car Showrooms as the missions associated with them were pretty fun, and resulted in a big selection of rare cars right to hand!
