Jay
Damn 16 hours is a long time. I'm not sure my trick will work for that great of a span of time. Get massively drunk the night before. I'm talking super drunk and keep at it until you have just enough time to grab you stuff and get on the plane. Then just sleep away your hangover on the plane. I'm not trying to be funny with my suggestion, but like I said, I'm not sure how well it would work for a 16hr flight. Ive tried that before it turns out to be a terrible idea. Also last time I flew in coach overseas they stopped serving me after like 5 of those tiny beers. lame. Sometimes you get lucky and get flights that aren't full but also necessary to get a plane to a destination in order to fly back full. KL-Heathrow once there were entire rows free which allowed a bunch of us to lie down across them and sleep. They also served beer nonstop and in the cans. Icarus
I was reading a news article yesterday about a Delta flight from Moscow to New York that had to land in Eastern Canada because two Russian passengers got drunk and became unruly when the flight attendants stopped serving them. They had a poll on the article asking if they should stop serving liquor on flights. Personally, I've never purchased liquor on a flight. It's almost $8/can and from what I've gathered, it's served piss warm.
Ryan
The longest flight I've had was about 8 hours which was a flight from Ottawa to Heathrow and a flight from Halifax to Vancouver. In both cases, the flights there were in the middle of the day so I just watched movies and TV on the in-flight entertainment system (thankfully Air Canada has this in the economy class). The return flights in both cases were in the middle of the night, so I just walked around the aircraft and found a empty row of seats that I could lay on and slept there for a few hours. The flight attendants didn't mind and actually encouraged it. Edited February 16, 2012 by Ryan
Chunkyman
Take something like valium, it should allow you to sleep a good portion of the trip with ease.
Triple Penetration
I would recommend against using in-ear headphones or earbuds as after an hour or two you will want to take them out. I have a week off college and I am mostly just staying at home. I haven't taken off my earphones out of my ears for 6th night and day straight, I even listen to music while sleeping. Headphones are less comfortable and f*ck up your head's shape.
chris
That's a long f*cking flight bro, i'll be on a long one shortly and was going to make a similar topic nearer the time. I'd take a few excellent books, i can get proper lost if a book is interesting enough and quite often i've opened a book and read it cover to cover as hours just fly by. A good ipod would come in handy and as mentioned before good headphones. other then that you're pretty covered with your two laptops and sh*t, if you still get bored then once again as mentioned before just get arseholed and try to roger the trolley dollys, or a drunken angry wank in the toilets if you aren't comfortable with getting rejected by bronze idiots. @TP, you're a bloody nutter, your ears must hate you. Ronnyboy
My Dad has a story about him flying back from France around 10 PM at night, the plane had barely anyone in economy, so he convinced the attendants to give him pillows and a blanket. He made a nap fort, like you do when you're 4, out of 4 passenger row and watched the inflight movie with food and beer. Lucky bastard
friendly luggage
Two laptops damn! I couldn't haul that around with me and I've never heard of inflight wifi or tried searching for routers while flying. What about interference? They must of ruled out the frequency then what wifi operates at. Anyway bring films, a pair of good headphones which block outside noise and some music. I would try to get some sleep but I also find it hard with the noise from the engines. Wouldn't mind going on that new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, it's meant to be quieter inside. Hell No..
I make a round trip every 2 weeks from Scotland to Wales, with around 19 hours before I come back. The trip is around 15 hours each way as I go by coach. It does my f*cking head in. So I thought, I have my iPod, a book and my phone, what else can I do? Then I thought, I know, I'll write down my thoughts and have a moan at the bus company and about how much I hate the trip. Mark
Chalk me up for another wasted flier, of course this only applies if you're not a loud violent drunk. Would be nice to actually get to where you wanna get of course. Last flight me and the missus bought loads of wine (sure it cost about 40 quid but meh) watched a movie on the iPad and got drunk. Mid way through we were both sound asleep til landing (not a long flight mind, still, it wasn't til the attendant woke us up we knew it was time to land). Triple Penetration
@TP, you're a bloody nutter, your ears must hate you. Haha, this is almost 10th with my earphones, whenever I re-adjust them into my ears I can feel them irritating. They probably must have some blood coming out, but then the earphones are blocking the way.

Long haul flights, for many carriers, have all food and drink included on the ticket price. At least I'm lucky in this part of the world where QANTAS is quality, and all the South Asian and Middle Eastern airlines are in a perpetual pissing contest with each other to outdo themselves. You're silly not to drink booze!
