YankeesPwnMets
In July, I'll be on a 16 hour flight from JFK to Hong Kong. I didn't really have a choice whether to go or not (yes, my parents still control me even as a soon to be 31 year old) and they pretty much made me go to China to go visit my old grandpa (yes, I still respect my parents and do what they want). The plane a Cathay Pacific Boeing 777ER. Every seat has an outlet able to deliver 100 watts of power. I'll be bring two laptops, an Alienware m11X, which takes 90 watts of power and my work HP laptop, taking a cool 65 watts of power. I'll probably pass some time doing work on the HP, playing FSX and GTA on the Alienware, listening to my iPod, reading, and surfing the web with the in flight wifi, Even with all this, I know I have a hard time staying in a concentrated area, and I can't really sleep all that well with the roaring engines. Anyone know what else I can do to pass time? Even as an adult I'm a very squirmy person. A three hour flight to Orlando had us stuck on the taxiway because of lightning, and I swear I couldn't have survived another hour on that A320. Luckily we were able to get off only an hour later but I have no clue how I can survive for 16 hours on a plane.... trip
Damn 16 hours is a long time. I'm not sure my trick will work for that great of a span of time. Get massively drunk the night before. I'm talking super drunk and keep at it until you have just enough time to grab you stuff and get on the plane. Then just sleep away your hangover on the plane. I'm not trying to be funny with my suggestion, but like I said, I'm not sure how well it would work for a 16hr flight. And put a couple of movies on whatever devices you are bringing (plus the movies you bring should be ones you haven't seen before, this way you'll be more interested in the film and more likely to stay involved with it and thus time will appear to pass quicker). Also, try and get the aisle seat so you can stretch you legs (you'll feel less constricted). These are just things I do, hope they help

Fozzy Fozborne
You should definitely invest in some good noise-cancelling headphones to lessen the engine roar. Bose generally has the best noise-cancelling technology, but they're expensive at about $300. Their equipment also sounds pretty good. I would recommend against using in-ear headphones or earbuds as after an hour or two you will want to take them out.

I know it's hard to focus sometimes, but a good book can make the hours tick away quite quickly. I remember starting and finishing World War Z on my florida trip last year. Granted I did have an hour or two on the beach with it.

TheTrikstar
Take some sleeping pills. Or just watch Movies, Or stay up for 30 Hours then you will sleep the whole 16 hours naturally. Or don't go
Viperman
All advice noted lads. Got a 10 1/2 hour flight from Scotland to mexico in May. Thinking down the sleeping pills line. - [- No Fear. Dnero
Never been on a long flight as long as 16 hours (non stop). Longest flight for me was 8 and a half hours, twice. First from Jakarta to Doha, then Doha to London. So yeah it's basically 16 hours or so. Anyways, I think you got all the things covered for your entertainment. For me, an iPod and a good sleep should really pass the time, then there's the in-flight movies that I had, so I just kept on watching them til I get to the destination. The Bose line is great, one of my mates has a pair, the noise cancelling is unrivalled, they are however overpriced. I would recommend the Bose QC3 if that's the way you're going to go, They sit on your ears not over them, and they are freaking comfortable. For a much lower price, i have a pair similar to these (Little more expensive), with music you hear very little, without it they take out the rumble from car engines (Not sure about planes) and make it very distant/muffled. http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/sony-md...7-35020456.html Make sure you try headphones before buying, and you can probably get them online for cheaper. Or just bring some earplugs +Blindfold. Edited February 15, 2012 by finn4life
Jay
The flight back from an international holiday is much easier to sleep on. Whenever I go overseas it involves bus travel (I <3 Contiki) so by the time it comes to fly home I can fall asleep bolt upright, or any other position. If you're not tired just get some spirits into you or watch movies on the plane. It's fun to watch classic movies like Die Hard and watch how they clumsily edit them for planes. "Yippy ki-yay... ki yay" The bit about the engines is true, they are loud as heck (especially if you're seated next to or behind the wings), I'd invest in noise canceling headphones. You can use them to watch the films, listen to music and just sleep easier. I never take mine off from the moment I step on the plane. Also wear light and loose clothes, then when you get cold just use the blanket they give you. Take your shoes off and don't be afraid to be that person walking up and down the aisles. Once on a plane from JFK-LAX-Sydney I had two friends on opposite ends of the plane (because I managed to get an emergency exit seat before they could) which meant we spent the whole time walking to one another to shoot sh*t. Time flew. Also join the solo mile high club if you're the type that can't sleep unless you... do that.
Gtaghost22
Take some sleeping, or stay awake for more than 24 hours before the flight and you will fall asleep naturally during the flight. Good Luck!
Imperativity
Either go to the toilet and jack off, or purchase a blanket (unless they offer one for free) and jack off underneath the blanket; you might want to wait until the people sitting beside you are asleep though. I once went on a return journey back to London in my pajamas quite drunk in the morning from Austria. Rebel
Well, if they have built in wifi for the flight then they are going to have TV/Movies to watch on the little TV's built into the head of the seat in front. The longest I've been on a plane for is probably 10/11 hours. Minus the actual 24hours travel time. To be honest, you shouldn't have too much trouble keeping yourself occupied if you are planning to be playing games on the laptops. I'd try and get some sleep though but that's just me. It does suck trying to sleep on plans (I've always got lucky and had those middle seats all to myself) but the constant waking up at random intervals only to find out you've been asleep for about 30 minutes suck. I'd probably take some food with you for the plane too. They'll give you enough meals but I usually get pretty hungry in between especially if the meals taste like crap which 99% of the time do. Either the potency and longevity of hash has improved dramatically in the last 5 years or your metabolic rate is roughly equal to that of a three-toed sloth. Back in the spirit of the topic, I recommend getting plastered in the airport.rather than on the plane. Its much cheaper and the last two airports ive flown from have on-site breweries. To be fair, it'd have to be really good hash and/or absolutely soaked in cannabis oil to last 12 hours. I'd say eating a brownie before going through the security line would give you enough time before it kicks in (30 minutes or so) and it'd last a few hours. And yeah, airport beers are one of my favorite things.

Secura
The only thing that got me over the flight from Canada TO Australia (With stops !) was the LOTR trilogy and the Original Star Wars trilogy. This should work even better when both parts of the hobbit come out. If you don't like films and you've got a powerful laptop buy a little game called Skyrim. It should make the flight seem allot shorter.
