Nightime in the countryside in GTA V

Im playing GTA EFLC at the moment and have just noticed how dark it gets in the unlit areas of the city at night when there is a storm and I was just thinking that as the countryside in V will have very little light around with the main light comming from the roads, any villages/farms there may be in the countryside and the moon when its clear skys. So I was wondering what everyone thinks the countryside should be like in night time, should it be realisticly dark, should it have a bit of a glow or something else. Also with the possibility of animals in GTA V would it be a good idea to go out in the countryside in night time?

I think that if is done right it could have a really good atmosphere and could have the right ammount of spookyness while still having the gta feel to it, just imadgine it, you have to make a crashlanding in your plane after having your wing sniped off, you manage to land safeley in the middle of the forest but the nearest road it a good 10 mins run away, you hear a bear growl in the distance but you only have the light of the moon to light the way but then a storm comes overhead and you have very little light available, you try and find your way to the road to jack a car/hire a cab but the bear growls are getting closer then you have no choice, you have to shoot the bear to survive but you cant see it so you have to either watch carefully or shoot like a mainiac, then you hit it directly in the head and then all you can hear is the storm and the slight roar of engines from the motorway just ove the hill so you make a break for it and sucsess, you can get out of there.

I do have a good imagination so I gess thats why GTA IV/EFLC has lasted so long for me but the darkness factor could affect missions aswell so what do people want in the way of the darkness in the countryside?

That sounds good, lightning during the storm could light the forest/country side up in brief flashes or something.

I always have my GTA IV contrast settings to 2 bars up so its realistic dark and cool biggrin.gif

so if it was dark at night in GTAV i would notch the brighness and contrast up biggrin.gif

GarrowsKai, Don't qoute the whole post though it's directly above you... damn.

Maybe when cruising in desert parts of California/San Andreas, you will be able to see some strange lightnings which are UFO's at night sky, when sky is clear. Would be nice to investigate the place for some mysteries. Would add reality too, IMO.

I missed the times, where I went to desert in GTASA in nighttime with camera and searching for UFOs LOL. I really thougt that UFO's were included in San Andreas but well, I was young... and very naive... but it were good times.

Good would be, if its night time, that you can see barely the landscape. So you need a lamp or the light of car.

I hope it will be like i imagine. If it wouldn't be like this, then f*ck this.

Or Night Vision. Finally the Night Vision will have a sense in using it. sly.gif And Rivals won't see you in the dark, unless they spot you with lamps or night visions.

That would be a good content for a mission... a mission like "Black Project". icon14.gif

It's amazing how almost all of us fell for those UFO rumors back then biggrin.gif

At the time, I was working as a Detective for the LSPD; I was investigating a murder out in the desert when my partner looked up and saw a black dot ZOOM across the sky. We went to investigate the estimated landing area, but all we saw was a truck parked next to a pit with corpses. Looks like we were able to solve that mystery after all biggrin.gif

NOTe: If you want to know how to join the LSPD in SA, PM me.

I imagine it'll be a lot like the remote areas in RDR.

Also, if you call a flash light a torch...I....I'm sorry I can't take you seriously cool.gif

I seem to remember there being an eery blue glow at night in the countryside of SA, I don't recall it ever getting that dark. It never really got that dark in rdr either unless you were in a heavily wooded area

This would be quite cool... either night vision, or thermal vision like you see the cops in helicopters use... would be an interesting twist for a few missions to spice them up a bit...

An eerie blue glow? Interesting, because I did another case back then on the Epsilon cultists. Turns out that there HQ was a shack with blue, eerie glowing lights in the window. You may be on to a connection buddy!

If you are wondering, that case has been COLD for a while now.

That example you gave is exactly what i dream of doing in Gta V. I wanna be put in a new environment with animals, were i havent a clue what to do or where to go, and you have to muster up some idea and plan to get out. Would be really fun online with friends you can voice chat to , to work out a strategy to get out safely biggrin.gif. There would be complete silence and just the two of you miles from the city on a trek to survive biggrin.gif . Would also be quite interesting in the mountains, what do we do then lol, where the f*ck could we go in the dark there suicidal.gificon14.gificon14.gif

Would be great if there was even just one part of the countryside that was seriously remote, like have a track leading up to it but no vehicles around so if you smash your car up you have to just slog it on foot all the way back to the road. Even if it only takes 5 mins to run back it'll feel like it's a long long way and in my opinion that feeling of remoteness would add a lot to the countryside, especially at night. Obviously that's dependent on how big the map is but if it's possible, I'd like to see it.

Im all for the idea of murderers and random easter eggs in the forest. I spent so much time looking for bigfoot and leatherface (till i learned they were mods, lol) in the woods in GTA:SA. Hope they include them in this. smile.gif

Algonquin Assassin

I remember I made a thread a long time ago on how night time should be in GTA V, but can't be assed to find it.

Basically out in the countryside especially in wooded areas I want the atmosphere to feel as if Jason Voorhees will jump out and hack my head off with his machete.

I know I've been critical of SA's countryside before, but in some ways the lack of life really made being out in the counryside eerie after dusk.

With GTA V I want R* to make the countryside feel so spooky and creepy after dusk that you wont want to go out there and stay in the city until dawn.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say "The countryside of San Andreas was downright creepy. You can't explain it; it just is."

GTA_La_Costra_Nostra

Thats what I was thinking! I feel like GTA IV lacked in that category at that point because 1, there wasn't that many places you could go where there was no city, and two because I barely noticed, (If there were any) stars at night. Sometimes during the summer I love to go far away from the city and look at the milky way very clear. And if GTA V's landscape is as big as Rockstar says, than this could be accomplished easy. I just can't help to notice how few stars I've seen driving around in L.C

I want the night to be darker than in SA, but not realistically dark. I want to be able barely see stuff, not not see it at all. Also, the headlights need to be improved, not sure how this is done in IV, but in SA they didn't light up the road really well, especially if you went off-road.

Having darker nights would definitely add to the atmosphere and spookiness of the place.

And I want the countryside be silent during the night with occasional dogs barking, insects buzzing, birds chirping, trees creaking etc

Agree! In GTA V, I want go to the countryside and enjoy the dark skies with a lot of stars. And yeah, nighttime should creepy.

I'd say this is technologically possible, so yes, it should be in. Realism is a very important aspect of GTA games.

If it does get dark in that game I can't wait to start rumors up about serial killers in the woods or Cave ghost.

Hopefully I'll get that 'stranded' feeling when I'm in the countryside.

I really loved not knowing where in hell's name I was in SA and there were no GPS' back then so all you had to do was follow your intuition.

After a couple minutes of running, I found a little cowboy town and I'd jack a car and just keep on driving.

I truly hope they DID put in the gasoline system for V, so we'd get stranded sometimes in the countryside.
