MIKON8ERISBACK
We also to take into account RAM (random-access-memory), which both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have had a tendency to lack in comparison to the demands of the "beta" versions of games which fortunately NEVER reach the hands of anybody outside of R*. Consequently, we need to allow them some time to tweak around with maximum draw distances, overall screen resolution, and texture detail. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they have to do what they did with San Andreas: Remove an endless list of awesome features, vehicles, interiors, and textures in order to satisfy the storage space limitations of DVD-DATA. On the other hand, the PS3 will have the advantage of using the storage medium with by far the most storage space. The reason R* is so reluctant to release a game occupying multiple disks is because it would increase the production budget of the game by almost 2 times. Rockstar Games had to water down San Andreas because the Slimline version of the PS2 totally removed the ability to copy program files data to a hard drive. Therefore, 2 disks would have been useless.
MIKON8ERISBACK
I hope that im not igniting a brewing console fanboy war, but the possibility of a PlayStation 3 exclusive is NOT out of the question, after all, the Xbox 360 has had by far the highest failure rate of any games console known to mankind. SlickSpencer8
Here are some other game sizes as a comparison San Andreas 2.9 GB Skyrim 3.8 GB* Just Cause 2 4.1 GB* Fallout 3 5.5 GB Bioshock 2 6.4 GB GTA IV 6.6 GB Red Dead Redemption 6.7 GB Saints Row 3 - 7.0 GB Batman Arkham City 7.7 GB Mass Effect 2 - 6.4/6.0 2 disc Battlefield 3 - 7.3/6.7 GB 2 disc Final Fantasy 13 - 5.9/5.8/6.6 3 disc Lost Odyssey - 5.4/4.6/5.8/5.9 4 disc LA Noire CE - 6.6/6.5/6.5/6.4 4 disc To clarify, these figures are for xbox360, from a list of install sizes *Surprised these 2 games are relatively small in size, I would have expected them both to be larger, especially Skyrim. Never been interested in playing Skyrim really, but I just assumed it was a huge game. If the entire game is one disc I expect it to be at least 7.5 GB. If 2 discs how will it be divided? by story? or by map area ie 1 disc city 1 disc countryside? why dont you call R* games and ask them? Like they are going to know... They won't release jack sh*t. DeconstruKt
it doesn't matter if it's 3-4 discs In LA Noire, there was a ton of discs, but the city was open for exploration. I dont mind if GTA has a ton of discs aslong as the city is open fully with disc 1, and you just need 2/3 just to play through the missions. it's not a big deal. Slamman
How would anyone know? I'd say hazarding a guess about discs, for DVD ROM versus Rockstar using BluRay on Sony to compress differently is the more likely guess

TheGodDamnMaster
I'm definitely not trying to pick any fights, but I hope the storage limitations of the 360's game discs doesn't cut content from the game. From what I recall they had to cut some stuff from GTA IV because of that. I think it would be wise of R* to make it 2 or 3 discs for the 360 version; 1 or 2 for the main game and 1 for multiplayer. Gtaghost22
Be surprised if GTA V will be 2 discs for PS3... If that so,how many GB is that? That would be atleast 15gb for it to be more than one blu-ray I think. WRONG! , one Blu-Ray Disk holds up 50 GB of Data.. Which means 2 Blu-Rays contains 100 GB of date
Tipper
People need to stol believing the size of the map is the main aspect of the game's size. Just Cause 2 has a huge map, yet it's not larger than IV. So don't you worry about the 360 version, it's likely to be huge and on one DVD. I'm definitely not trying to pick any fights, but I hope the storage limitations of the 360's game discs doesn't cut content from the game. From what I recall they had to cut some stuff from GTA IV because of that. Well you don't recall correctly, they never cut off anything because of the 360 version. GTA IV takes like 2/3 of the entire DVD space, meaning if they had planned more, they would have used this space and at least fill the DVD completely. And again, it's not a matter of map, it's not what takes most space. I'm even wondering if the soundtrack doesn't take more space than the map. Well, it is, because that would hurt their profits, as most people have either a PS3 or a 360. In fact, there are more people who own a 360 than a PS3. I don't see why the 360 failure rates should affect anything. The game will fit on one disc. It's a shame, but if they have to, they'll cut radio stations, reduce texture quality, remove cut-scenes etc. and sell it as DLC.

S08
I'm not sure what I think but what would be a bit better is to do something BF3 did, Were you could install the HD Textures and since it was an on-game download it didn't take as much as downloading from the marketplace. They could possibly do that with the sound files (?) Or adleast some of them to save some space.
monsterjamp
15-20 but if they want to put it on one disc for Xbox the most GB they could put on it would be
Versous
I think this will be the last Grand Theft Auto on 1DVD..... between 7.9GB and 8.3GB. Really? Trust me, after GTA 5, we wont see another one until 2017-19, the PS4 and next xbox should be able to hold 3 times as much as now? I dont know? I think 2016 isn't be to early 2019 lol, are you crazy? Magic_Al
I don't think a proper GTA experience is possible with disc swapping, so I think GTA V will be all of the GB on one disc. Like others said there was no space shortage on GTA IV. The soundtrack was around 200 songs, 25% more than San Andreas and way over 1GB, and they still didn't fill the DVD. I think what happened was they ran into a limitation not of storage but of memory, that the console couldn't run fast enough with higher resolution textures, so they had to increase image compression to reduce the memory load and they ended up with free space. Maybe that's why there's so many songs and TV shows, completely optional media files. The actual game didn't come close to filling the disc. It's much harder to design a big world than to fit it on a DVD.

Ludzidocelowych
A proper GTA should fill up an entire Dual Layered Blu-Ray disc, which is 50GB But, to compensate for Microsoft's incompetency, and to cater to the 360 owning whiners(not all 360 owners are whiners) Probably won't be more than 9 GB

domnage
Some people just dont get that stuff, that LA Noire was so big JUST because of that face capture technology. GTA V wont have that, so I think maximum of 2 discs for Xbox 360 would be enough.
Sean5
GTA San Andreas 2,9 GB?? GTA 4 6,6GB?? Wtf. Your infos of other games are unrealistic too. Skyrim actually needs 6GB. JC2 needs 10GB! If I am not wrong, GTASA got almost 5GBs (i think 4.7GB) and GTA4 around 16GBs.Did you get those infos from a drug dealer or something? Anyways... I think GTA5 will be around 20 - 25GB. sir.. your information is completely wrong. Unless you meant thats the space you need to play them on pc then maybe.. They would be doing themselves a huge favor by putting multiplayer on a separate disc. When the multiplayer uses the same map, models, textures, vehicles and sounds as the main game there's really not that much space to gain from putting it on a separate disc. locolow2011
If its their largest and most ambitious game yet it has to be atleast over 7 GB. L.A. Noire is the exception but it was that big because of the motion capture cutscenes.
