GtaVComments
"Grand Theft Auto V is set in the city of Los Santos and its surrounding hills, countryside and beaches" Where do people read into that that there will be multiple other cities? This thread reeks of hopeless optimism and glassy-eyed denial. Actually its "Grand Theft Auto V is set in the city of Los Santos and its surrounding hills, countryside and beaches...". Notice the "..." after beaches, that basically means etc..., which is showing there may be more to that sentence regarding cities, or its showing that theres more to talk about that doesnt regard the map. Whatever it is, its this "..." that has caused all this debate, and I think R* knows this and if you stand back and look at this, its working brilliantly. These three short dots account for about 20% of Gta V talk on forums and other sites. Get it? . Thats why its such a big issue, NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING REMEMBER THAT. Kwandilibro
The game is actually set in f*cking Timbuktu. Seriously, nobody knows anything more than what we've seen a thousand times. Liscense plates, at this point, are no more or less conclusive than R*'s half assed broad statements of "yeah, GTA might be set on earth, likely in a place with air" R* is doing a hella good job of telling us absolutely nothing for as long as humanly possible. SGT. Johnson
San Diego or some other city, with little towns in the countryside. Fixed. There will be "only" Los Santos as the main city.. and few small towns. Like in San Andreas where the towns were located on north and west of Los Santos (in the coutryside). And the entire map will be much larger than San Andreas. That's just my own opinion which sounds most logical and realistic. I really would be surprised, if there is another big city besides Los Santos. Um, thank you? I didn't ask for that because R* states "SoCal", which means it could be maybe ONE other city in SoCal. Slamman
Point to making this topic again is??? LOS SANTOS, bottom line. As many are now coming into seeing, LS is the key city for this outing, and like LA NOIRE, I imagine they are trying to make it a painstakingly realistic setting, on par if not better then GTA IV's Liberty You guys forget how impressive RDR and GTA IV really are, they spent so much time on the Cityscape, the peds and life in the city was lacking, interiors were lacking, so it did come up short, but the stories and missions I felt were right, not to be faulted really
Finn 7 five 11
Just because SF and LV are not to be seen, that doesn't discount the possibility of another large city, or maybe some largish towns, a square mile in size perhaps? I expect Los Santos the actual city to cover an amount of land just under the size if Liberty City, and a bunch of countryside to top it off. C2H5OH
From Ross Wallace's flickr (lead level designer Rockstar North) These pictures were taken on his 'USA 2010 Trip' according to his Flickr, the description is as follows: Lee, Stu, DJ and I hit Las Vegas, visit the Rockstars in San Diego, continue to Los Angeles and add the full stop in San Francisco. The collection on flickr contains 4 albums with each of those cities. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rosswallace/c...57623803148118/ Stu is presumably Stewart Allan based on the contents of the flickr and it having pictures of a user Stewart Allan who is I'm guessing just a friend. Lee and DJ I know nothing about, I assume they are just friends as well. I searched Lee and a Jamie-Lee Boyd from Rockstar North came up but he looks nothing like the Lee in the flickr. Not exactly conclusive, but I thought it was interesting. Car looks familiar for some reason... Takes a picture of an R8 Roadster Well, that's just some stuff I saw. I just think it's interesting, not necessarily meaning the devs went on this trip to take pictures for the game. Although, I can understand why Wallace would take pictures of the Grove if there is to be a big heist level there and in the surrounding area or maybe he just wanted to take pictures of the Grove...I don't know. Did anyone remember, These pictures? It's not really 'evidence' of other cities, because it maybe was a trip to choose of wich one of those cities could be the one. But still, it's interisting. I'm not saying, LV and SF WILL be in it, but it's stupid to rule them out because of some vague statement of R*. I mean, i can be heading to Los Angeles, but on the way i go along Las Vegas and San Francisco too. + There is that weird answer of Dan Houser where he answered a question concerning the confirmation of the rest of San Andreas. "Game Informer: You just released the GTA V trailer. Can you talk about that project in any respect? Obviously, it looks like it's going back to San Andreas. Dan Houser: I've got to be real careful here, or they will drag me through the office and whip me with barbwire. I will stick to exactly what's in the press release. It's Los Santos and the surrounding countryside - and a very big map."

FelipeVinhao
Don't wanna be the asshole here, but... where are the news? It was already said by the first official release note, but people were still thinking it wasn't enough proof that SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA doesn't include San Francisco (San Fierro) nor Las Vegas (Las Venturas), which is in fact in Nevada. Dystopia
Are people SERIOUSLY still speculating that SF and LV will be included. They have stated GTA V will be take place in Los Santos and the surrounding hills. Why should they feel the need to say LAS VENTURAS AND SAN FIERRO WILL NOT BE IN THE GAME, just to pacify millions of fanboys. Saying something is not in the game sets a lot of negativity. They'd rather get you hyped for Los Santos and surrounding hills than make you uninterested by saying other assets wont be in game.
Lelouch The Zero
I t doesn't look like you have been reading a lot of info. R* already confirmed just LS and surrounding area, like countryside, woods, mountains, etc. You know GTA IV was originally going to be a state, with surrounding area like mountains and woods and stuff, don't know why they changed it, I guess because it would probably be on 2 discs for 360, wouldn't have really bothered me though. The question wasn't specifically about the map and neither is the answer. There's a absolute TON of things he can't say/hasn't said yet. We know nothing about the gameplay. They've confirmed missions are in, and it looks like we will probably dive cars around and shoot guns. We're not even sure who the protagonist is. I deduced the question and answer was based on the location because GI stated 'it looks likes it going back to San Andreas' to which Dan gave the press release reply. While you are right in the sense that he is stating all he is allowed to say - in general (not just the location) which is what is included in the official press release, it can be interpreted that his answer suggests there is more to the location than what we know because the tone of how he has said it cannot be detected. Of course I am aware hes holding back - theres a gazillion things hes holding back. This is all I meant.
