Slamman
Months? Weeks? It's all the same... The big question is why a trailer and nothing further? Screenshots can't be that damn difficult to divulge, I mean, SERIOUSLY! That's where I'm totally miffed
GamerToons
Yeah so I guess we just go back to playing RDR online for awhile.

Screenshots can't be that damn difficult to divulge, I mean, SERIOUSLY! That's where I'm totally miffed Well, the trailer hit when it did to keep the shares up a bit due to the loss forecasts. The rest of the V info is being held back by MP, which has already lost T2 a sh*tload of money and they cant risk any eyes averted from it. Although personally I think theyre a bit paranoid; if we cant buy V any time soon, if people want MP theyll get it.

Magic_Al
Since the first trailer I've had a hunch that this would be like Red Dead Redemption, where the trailer came out a year before the game and they said almost nothing about it for first 5-6 months of that year. Staten
A lot of more people? Spelling, guys, spellingYeah, pretty much confirms rather obviously that MP3 is expected to be an AAA title, if not an AA title More like it confirms they hashed up the development time, and they know it doesnt have legs. Doesn't confirm that at all. If we're making stuff up, then I guess it's fixing a problem with the Bursts in multiplayer. Pretty much does for me: they had something like four R* studios with a hand in it, and it should have been on shelves something like a year earlier. Now they cant even risk a V screenshot for fear losing even more sales for MP3. It was always going to be a slightly wildcard release, and they mishandled it. It's unlikely we'll ever know why Max Payne was delayed so much; it's just guesswork for the both of us. My guess is that a mixture of the fallout from the whole San Diego snafu (there were leaks that suggested that the push for RDR was worse than before) and the fact a few studios (North, Leeds, Lincoln, New England, San Diego and NYC) had to get involved to help L.A. Noire actually get released meant MP3 was pushed back. I get the impression that McNamara didn't tell Rockstar the whole story of how complete LAN was when they got involved. Eh, like we all predicted, we won't get any info until after Max Payne. Actually I predicted that they would share at least some information (maybe a second trailer) before the release of MP3. I knew they wouldn't talk about Mulitplayer until the release because that is maybe the largest selling point that MP3 has over current R* games. I can understand not wanted to trample over your own property, but R* should know that a lot of us are going to buy one or the other or both. Plus GTA V will be selling millions for a few years to come just like GTA IV, GTA SA etc. I did not think they would wait so long. It proves that R* released the first trailer for a stock boost and that makes sense but still sucks. Still, I am happy to have the first trailer so I guess we just take what we get and expect nothing until we know more.
Patrizio
I view a couple as 2 and a few as 3, ergo we should expect GTA V info May/June time - most probably kicking off with the Game Informer issue as tradition in June. Looks likely to be an October release I would deduce, then.

Well I can appreciate all of your points, all makes sense. To me, I just find it slightly insane that across all of their studios, there is such a knock-on effect from them trying out other titles. Which is fine, but they really need to get their sh*t together.

Noir or RDR but obviously had their hands in it the whole time. I am not saying the map will be small, I am just pointing out they are choosing their words carefully. Remember that GTA SA's map was Ginormous, but R* stated that GTA IV was a larger task because the city was packed from floor to top. The game will be huge there is no doubt but I don't think we are going to see the sheer size of a GTA SA. I personally don't think we need it either. SA had a lot of dead space. Why July 24th in particular? Again, none of us have any idea - but June is always a good bet for Rockstar to release information/get the huge information ball rolling in time for an October release. Triple Vacuum Seal
so I guess its now release a trailer at the start of November and not give any real info until ~3.5 months+ "a few months' time"......f*ck that "shut up, sit down, relax"
jjwilson
So basically they have confirmed that nothing until max payne 3 is done, in May the GTA 5 marketing will properly start for 6 months, followed by an october release, so we can all hibernate until May, one thing this should tell us though that it seems rockstar have got a timeline in place now, they now know when they are release info etc.

GamerToons
I think we are all just GTA fanboys and want to know more information. R* has never been so secretive about an announcement. They threw us a trailer and said "Hey it's in LS and surrounding areas" and left it at that. Usually we have something. After The first GTA IV trailer, R* told us we were playing an immigrant named Niko Bellic. Remember this? "In Grand Theft Auto 4 you take on the role of Niko Bellic, an immigrant from Eastern Europe with an ominous past. Persuaded by his cousin's promises of a fresh start and a better life, Niko relocates to Liberty City, USA -- the worst place in America. After making the move to Liberty, however, Niko quickly realizes that his hopes of "living the American Dream" may never come to pass... and that things here may not be so different after all." Now in GTA V here we wait for a confirmation of anyone/anything. We know the dark skinned dude in the red car is important. We know that the guy in the blue car and balcony are important. We know the AI is better and the graphics look great. That's about it. What if the dark skinned dude was a created character that can be used seamlessly in Single player and Multiplayer? R* has never done a create-a-character before.... they say it ruins character immersion. What if they focused the story on the Older guy and you are his right hand man? That would allow more customization.

Guanxi
Call me cynical but a couple of months is MP3-territory. I'm starting to agree with the people who said they are using GTA V at this point as a promotional tool for Max Payne 3. It wouldn't at all surprise me if in the run up to Max Payne 3 we get another gta v trailer to draw the hits to R*'s website/Max Payne 3 cinematic/launch trailer featured/linked/plastered all over R*'s website/youtube, etc. Game Informer reveal will likely follow the second trailer so if GTA V is revealled in the May Game Informer the trailer will be late april. If the trailer is mid-May the full Game Informer reveal will probably be the June issue.
Freezer89
Well, I am still sure we will get another trailer before Max Payne 3 release.. so this month or next. April would be too late. After release of MP3 we will getting news about V.. around in June. And to the SF/LV-Believers.. i am sorry But don't be sad, there will be some small towns.. and Los Santos alone will be big enough. Hopefully.
