TheGodDamnMaster
This is something I've noticed a lot lately in GTA IV. When the car is stopped and you click the right stick to look behind you, there will be no cars following you. When you go back to the front camera, there will be a few more cars in front of you then there were before, and if you look back again there will be a sh*t ton of cars that came out of nowhere. It's like the vehicles "pop-in". It's always been one of my biggest nitpicks with the GTA games. Is this likely to be addressed in GTA V? I'm hoping yes and I'm hoping the reason it was like that was because it was their first gta game on the new engine
Fuzz_ball
GTA: SA was like that too, so my guess, a spawning problem. I remeber driving on a freeway then get rearended while goin top speed. o.O

So I look behind me and there are 7 cars that weren't there before... ZombLee
It usually happens when you're driving at a medium-high speed for a while and then stop. I guess while you were driving, the game was too busy loading the rest of the scenery so it didn't have a chance to load cars until you stopped moving. then since there aren't any cars at that moment they take the first chance they can to load them (e.g., when you're not looking in that direction). HOTMILFDAD
I think it may have something to do with the engine loading scenery first, then traffic. I remember reading something about it. But imo, it's basically been pretty much a damn staple in the series. So I expect it to return in GTA V.

When i looked at the road, there was no car in sight. So i decided to walk away to another road, then suddenly a car hit me!!!!! Sorry, my english is not good. Your english is better than most people who nativly speak it lol, no need to apologize. And I've run into this too, but I like it. When there are no cars around and I'm in the middle of nowhere (Still near a road of course), I just keep looking behind me and in front again and eventually a car spawns. I also expect it to return to V, and have no grips about it, but will be pleasantly surprised if it's been fixed.

Chillzz01
Hope so. There was a lot of glitches in GTA 4 that bothered me. But GTA 4 was R*'s first game with rage. Rage is more optimized and i think bugs or glitches like that wont happen. I could be wrong though..
thebestgameever
Driving down the roads quite fast is fun, but when vehicles suddenly appear a few metres in font of you it gets annoying. Hope they fix this.

TOWNSENDuk
if your somewhere in a GTA game , as in, in one part of a city... it doent mean that in another part of the city there is AI peds walking around and driving around. why should there be, you wouldnt be able to see them anyway. so imagine... you're on a stretch of road in GTA, the road is straight, and you can see for a good while both ways... there are no cars, what do you expect the game to do... load a car miles away out over the horizion, the car would take forever to get there and the game wouldnt even bother loading a car all the way out there, because there is nothing there. as far as there game is concerned the only area in the game where cars and peds should load is the area you are in because it would make no sense to load them in an area you are not in. that is why sometimes a car will load behind you. anyway, its better that loading it in your line of sight. Magic_Al
Another example of this is food vendors. You drive by and no one is at the cart, but as soon as you pass you hear them calling out behind you and they're there. Playing TLAD it's pretty much routine to have to drive past the peanut cart nearest the Lost clubhouse to make the guy appear.
boxmonster
Yes they need to fix the car spawning. They should be loaded up before they are even visible. A lot of racing games already spawn cars like this and even though the traffic densities may not be so high the games feel more realistic. The same could go for ped spawning, IV even had a placeholder ped, which if it had a better range could've actually been great. So the game needs placeholder cars, even less detailed than the car's lods, much like the fake traffic in the distance but actually representing cars. I distinctly remember that when I was being chased by the police (this is the only time I noticed it), I would see three versions of a police car coming toward me: About a Mile: really blocky, almost no antialiasing About half a mile: a little bit more defined, still blocky Very close: fully detailed and no blockiness By placeholder car, it should occur at the Mile/Half Mile markers.
