I don't quite understand the logic regarding the wait for GTA V. Why is it, if a poster on this board wants to bash R* for having to wait 4 years for a new GTA, everything is A-OK? But, if a poster comes on here (like the guy above) and expresses his opinion on why the wait isn't that bad, he is an "ass kisser"?

Yeah, the "living breathing city" with NPCs that have their own lives has been repeated for every game since III and it's never been true. I don't even want it at this point but it's still promised.

Then why do you still read the interviews...

 

So you expect that R* gives us every little detail about the game.

Shows us all the gameplay and open world possibilities.

Tells us everything about the protagonist.

Gives us a list of easter eggs.

Shows us walktroughs of the mission.

And let us download beta versions of the game from their site.

 

Then why are you going to buy the game.

 

You already know everything.

You already played the missions.

You already know all the easter eggs.

 

 

Almost no one'd buy the game.

I'd download the last beta instead of buying it.

And if I already knew everything the game shouldn't be fun anymore for me.

 

 

 

Just accept the fact that it is how the gaming world works.

Honestly, it's probably going to come out in late 2012, so even if it were delayed to early 2013 (or was planned to come out in early 2013 in the first place) it wouldn't feel like that long of a wait at that point. There'd be plenty of videos and information on GTA V by then as well, so we wouldn't feel left in the dark. This is just the early point in which the wait is most unbearable.

And really, why do people act like they've been waiting for GTA V for 4 years? It wasn't announced until November of last year, and that's how long I've been waiting for GTA V. See, at the beginning, you had GTA IV. That probably should've given you enough enjoyment to last at least a year or two, although I suppose that depends how much you liked it. But then you have Red Dead Redemption; which, while not being a GTA game, was an epic open-world experience with the trademark R* feel, and was (in my opinion, at least) twice as good as GTA IV, in almost every area except at being a game set in modern times.

 

L.A. Noire didn't fill the gap like RDR did, because it was a very different game. Regardless, if you've been waiting since then, it still hasn't been anywhere near four years. You don't start waiting for tomorrow's dinner the moment you finish today's, not until well after tomorrow's lunch. If you want, you can consider RDR today's lunch, and now we're waiting for today's dinner. But it still hasn't been four years since then. I hope someone understands my metaphor.

If you've truly been pining for GTA V since the day after GTA IV came out, it won't be worth the wait; almost nothing is worth a wait of four years if you make it painful for yourself. Me? I haven't truly 'waited' for GTA V until the announcement of the trailer back in last November. And for me, the wait hasn't been very long. I know in a few month's time my hunger will be sated with plenty of appetizers (trailers and information... I'm trying to keep the metaphor going ) and dinner will be shortly afterwards. We'll enjoy eating it, and if you're not a spoiled brat you'll be satisfied afterwards.

 

This is how waiting for things works. I hope those who feel they have endured suffering all this time can ease themselves a bit, because thinking of it this way not only makes it easier and will make you more happy, it's the way you're supposed to do it as a reasonable human being.

Well, really, it's not even about my opinion of Rockstar. It's my opinion on how people are choosing to wait for things that they want, which really reminds me of the way spoiled children (or, rather, children in general) do. I know R* definitely has its faults, and the games it makes aren't perfect. I pointed out myself that if you have made your 4-year wait unbearable by actually, officially waiting for a game, it's not going to be worth that wait. Nothing will.

 

If you're comparing your ranting tirades to Oliver Twist, I'm sorry but this isn't quite the same thing. R* isn't some tyrannical force, The Man trying to push you down and make you take it. It's a games company. It's a pretty good one, too. Is it perfect? No, not by any means. The games it makes aren't perfect either. The problem is that you don't like what they've made the last few years, and that's fine, it's your opinion. But don't think that just because other people agree with what they've done, that makes them "ass-kissers".

 

I liked GTA IV, and I liked RDR even more. I even kind of liked LA Noire, although it wasn't worth the money, that's for sure. I don't enjoy these games because I love R*, I like R* because I enjoy these games. Do you understand the difference? I'm sorry that R* has differed creatively from your tastes these past few years and now you feel like you've had to wait for GTA V ever since GTA IV came out. You could blame R* all you want, but the truth is that no one is really to blame for that.

 

You can, of course, make it better for yourself by choosing not to be so negative. I'm assuming you'll want to compare that idea to "Stop being so negative about being raped and you'll feel better! ," but again, I'm sorry, it's just not that serious. It's a game. You haven't been raped by R*, or had your rights suppressed. They made some games between the game series that you like, and you didn't like them. I'm sorry about that, but boo hoo. Be pissed off if you want, and compare your unwillingness to relax about it to Oliver Twist saying, "Please, sir, can I have some more?" But don't call anyone who hasn't felt like they've been raped by R* a coward and an "ass kisser" because you can't believe that some people are willing to tolerate annoyances when it's really not that big of a deal.

 

EDIT: And, well, to make this a bit more on-topic, we're going to get some news in a few months anyway, according to the Asked & Answered. It shouldn't be difficult to find other things to think about until then, like the foray of other good games coming on in the coming months and just life in general.

Bravo sir.......bravo. I don't understand being so upset about a game company wanting to make other games. The more games, the better. Some people may not like Max Payne, and that's ok, but it looks like it's shaping up to be a terrific game. I totally agree with your post though.
