SlickSpencer8
Floating around YouTube, I saw a video and the guy that played as Niko Bellic on GTA IV. And he looks like nothing like Niko Bellic in the video game and it makes me wonder why people think that Ned Luke is going to be in GTA V protagonist? But if you think about it none of the GTA protagonist look like the person that speaks and usually the people they pull out is someone random that works for the comapany... Jeeebuuus
There is alot of evidence to suggest he is. Read the 55 pages of the Ned Luke is definately the voice thread.
rimbaud
That is all fine and dandy, but how does that change the fact that the man on the balcony is physically the spitting image (birthmark and all) of Ned Luke and sounds exactly like him? Vega LVI
The photos of Ned Luke and the supposed in-game version of him look almost identical, plus the voice over during the GTA V trailer sounds just like Ned Luke's voice, so there is plenty of evidence. As Jebus said, take a look at the Ned Luke is Definitely the Voice thread. Much more evidence can be found there.
Vice Beach
Basically what you're saying is there's a chance Ned Luke will be the basis of the look of the protagonist, but not his voice? Not like it really changes the character. We're still a middle aged white guy. His voice won't change his character. Though it's pretty obvious its Ned Lukes voice in the trailer. When GTA IV was announced, people brought up that Niko resembled the sniper from Behind Enemy Lines, and that actor didn't voice Niko, so anythings possible I guess. RED_
- It could be the fact that LA noire used this new face stuff and it is extremely plausible that is now being used here. New technology, that worked well and their plan is probably to use it for all their games. - It could also be that his cousin posted about it on twitter before deleting/locking her account something like "Can't believe my cousin is going to be the lead in the new grand theft auto #nedluke". This was near the release of the trailer, so it could be that they thought that since the trailer was released, they were allowed to talk about it. Turns out they weren't and they went private, deleting everything. - It could also be the voice comparisons between the person talking in the trailer and some of Ned Lukes voices while acting. senor_huevos_benedicto
Yeah, Niko looks nothing like Michael Hollick. However, you overlook the fact that technology has vastly improved since GTA IV was made - we can make characters that look like their voice artists now. And there is a video that shows that Ned Luke looks and sounds exactly like the trailer's narrator. I'm not saying that he's the protagonist, I'm just saying that he voices the character speaking. Then why would they chose to meticulously recreate some actor that no-one's heard of instead of modelling their own character?

LA Noire for instance did it! You think they'd do the same, considering the great results they got with it too, if not for that bit of technology, La Noire probably wouldnt have been developed since the game was based on you being able to tell if the person was lying or not. Anyway what i mean is Ned Luke imo is the guy because they used him coz hes an actor, and can play the role of acting with facial expressions which could also set the tone of gta v , i.e morale decisions based on these added features/affects

HydraulicWaRiOr
Considering that Spencer has been here for quite a while, we believe that he is smart enough to take a look at the Ned Luke thread and say no. We believe that other possible protagonists deserve their own thread as well for those who do not wish to believe the theories that the opposition presents. Personally? I would like a new change and playing a middle aged ex mobster/hitman/whatever the f*ck- would not let me down. If anything i prefer playing a middle aged wise guy then some young gang member.

Magic_Al
Niko Bellic would have been made to look like his actor if the actor had been Vladimir Mashkov, who played the character Niko is based on from Behind Enemy Lines. Mashkov confirmed he was offered and turned down the role in GTA IV. What apparently happened then was that Michael Hollick was the second choice to play Niko, but Rockstar still wanted an appearance similar to Mashkov's character (although the likeness is altered to not infringe Mashkov's rights). ImageMetrics technology allowed Hollick's facial performance to animate the face. CJ in San Andreas has Young Maylay's face and a number of characters in GTA IV have their actor's face. The ImageMetrics technology probably looks the most realistic with the least tweaking if the facial movements from the actor can be mapped directly to a 3D model of the actor's own face. Snake Without a Tongue
I dunno if Ned Luke is the protagonist, but he's in the damn game. Get over it. Bold new direction? Maybe more accurate facial models -- because the mo fo looks exactly like the character he's voicing in the trailer.
