Qlone
I was playing through some San Andreas the past week or two on a different PC, and other than alot of the SA quests being frustrating and taking away from the game.. Its still enjoyable. To keep this short, is it in the plans for GTA V to also be a GfWL title? I will have to reconsider making a purchase if this is the case. GfWL should be something that if I want to integrate it I can but it isn't required. At the moment I can't play GtaIV save games without logging into GfWL. Wich I guess I have to update or something because it keeps crashing the game. (Like it has in the past, I always forget what I had to do to get it working again) Also Social Club, This should also be only if I want it. Both programs should not be initiated unless I absolutely have an interest in integrating them into my playing experience. I have two games with GfWL and although I get use to not being able to map keys how I usually do for all my PC games, its still frustrating I have to change my playing to accommodate a program that doesn't do anything for me at all. Any details on this subject?
DCTF
I don't think anybody knows. I hope not. It didn't cause any problems for me, but it obviously did for a lot of other people, and it's hard to see why a launcher and GFWL should be in the way of running the game itself. Ash_735
I hope not, GfWL is terrible, I'd even say Origin is better than it. steam is the best if we MUST use DRM.
Mince
The game should probably be on Steam. As for Social Club, sure I found it nice mainly for the 100% lists on Red Dead and LA Noire. The seamless integration was nice.

DCTF
Care to explain GfWL? Ostensibly it was meant to be an XBox Live for Windows, but that's not really how it worked out at all. It doesn't provide any kind of real interface, but runs in the background instead. That's not to say there's no interface at all, but it's just a drop-down overlay menu which offers access to minor controls. It's only really useful to us when there's a new patch, but then again patches are often delayed because they have to be approved by GFWL before we can have them. So, not that useful at all really. Wubbzy
Several years ago when GFWL first started it was buggy and people didn't like it, it's no longer buggy and people still don't like it. I own ALOT of games that use GFWL and have never, not even once, enountered an issue with it. In a perfect world all games would be DRM free like The Witcher 2 was, DRM doesn't work anyway... LA Noire didn't use Games for Windows Live but made use of Rockstar Social Club and Gameshield DRM so chances are the PC version of GTA V will use the same although if GTA V has multiplayer Rockstar Games might once again look at using Games for Windows Live. Sunrise Driver
steam is the best if we MUST use DRM. LA Noire DRM > Steam. That what I want in GTA V. Simple activation at GameShield / Social CLub and that's all.
PowerKracker
No more Windows EVIL. I'm glad LA Noire didn't use it, neither should GTA V.
Zee
The GFWL DRM made GTA4 PC an even bigger fail the the cnsole versions, if that was possible.
zackryderwoo
Ostensibly. What? Zee. LOL. Edited February 11, 2012 by zackryderwoo
DCTF
Ostensibly. What? "By appearances, but not necessarily by substance". Something that purports to be one thing, but is actually something else.
CommonSeb
The only real "positive" thing are if you are an xbox 360 player also, you get a double set of achievments. I have 100% on gta IV for both xbox and PC. Achievments doesnt really do anything but in time it gives a tiny reward for experiencing all the small details of a game. Seems useless at first but then you slowly get addicted...

Simple activation at GameShield / Social CLub and that's all. I have L.A.Noire on Steam But yeah, give people the choice, if you got the physical copy, you didn't NEED Steam, it had it's own smaller DRM, the benefit of the Steam version is the Achievements and, well, that's it, Steam would come into play more for DLC and Multiplayer, but L.A.Noire had neither (On PC). Exactly. For the retail version just a normal DRM and for the steam version obviously the steamworks-DRM. I am sure that V won't support/use GFWL anymore. I mean both LA Noire and now apparently Max Payne 3 too don't use GFWL anymore.
Hazelnot
AFAIK, R* is making Social Club something better than GFWL, they even use the same interface and achievements, but faster and completely web-based. So no GFWL, just RGSC.
JasonBrody
Web-based applications are the future. Just wait till Crytek unleashes GFACE!!!
Qlone
Don't get me wrong I mean Social Club hasn't really caused any problems. And I have played through the main story line and most side missions In GTAIV and am on my second replay of FO3. So I mean I was able to deal with GfWL and all but still. whatever they are for DRM I didn't realize. I just want my Home key back really. Its my foward button damnit. I remember researching a program that would let you map the home key with gfwl?
