The Unvirginiser
The doors of the Number 36 bus hissed open and our man stepped on. He sat towards the back and picked up a trampled newspaper from the floor. His eyes scanned the headlines, which barely registered in his mind. His thoughts where back in the office. Had he made her laugh? Was she genuinely laughing because she thought he was funny or because she was too nice to let him feel like an idiot? All the other girls were talking about Jack. What if Jack wasn’t gay, what if they could go out with him? They said they needed a few more of the men to look like him, then it would be worth showing up for. He wasn’t Jack, he was just himself. Maybe the girls talked about him when he wasn’t there? They can’t have said anything good; hopefully they didn’t say anything at all. But while they were all talking about Jack, she wasn’t. She just carried on laughing, not getting involved in the discussion, she just kept smiling. Maybe she’s still there now, laughing at him with the girls, telling them how he desperately tried to make her smile all day. Of course she was, of course they all were. There’s was nothing left to do but go home and catalogue everything that had happened. A night of upset, over-analysing and worrying. The stone, sad face of despair was interrupted by a ping. He looked down at his phone. Request to Add a Friend There she was.

Call it what you will, but I saw each action as an interpretation of Facebook? Twitter? Myspace, perhaps. It's a tiny piece which sparked more curiosity than recognition for me, in a good way mind! It's a nice little piece to me, and I found some sort of odd relation to this. Nice to see you put something up man, glad to know you're still kickin' it here.
