And I highly doubt that there would only be Los Santos. And considering the fact that Malibu is very close to Los Angles there is a really good chance that it could be in the game. And alot of the real world celebrities do live there- possibly a place for alot of the ingame celebrities to live too? I'm actually surprised this hasn't come up much before. It just wouldn't feel like L.A. without something on the other side of those mountains (or Mulholland Drive for that matter). I'm hoping for Malibu too. R* said the game is based on present-day Southern California. Malibu is by far one of the most iconic places in Southern California. Not including it would be asinine. LotusRIP Posted February 11, 2012 Share Posted February 11, 2012 Is it just me or does it seem like we are getting a bit greedy and expecting a lot for a game to extend on GTAIV, which barely had 1 city and surrounded by nothing but ocean... Now we're talking about southern California, mountain ranges and countryside.... I dunno. Starting to feel like I'm stupid to believe its even possible. saintsrow Posted February 11, 2012 Share Posted February 11, 2012 The hills in the background on the right edge of the opening shot in the Trailer at 0:08 would seem to be about in the right position to be the hills above Malibu beach. The coast curves around in that direction in real life. Also, back in GTA-SA, R* took some care to model the cliff, street and strand area just north of the Santa Monica Pier based on real life, and as you know, they put a safehouse there in GTA-SA, as the first house in a row of small houses along the strand north of the pier. Those houses are there in real life, and Malibu beach (the restaurants and then the multimillion dollar beach houses) begin just north of that row of houses on the strand. It is a continuous strip of beach from the Muscle Beach to the Santa Monica Pier on up to Malibu, so I hope they will create the row of houses again in higher fidelity and then continue into a (re-imagined and probably shorter) version of Malibu beach. And I hope they put some missions and a nice expensive safehouse in that Malibu area, in GTAV. R* might also have some nice expensive houses sparsely placed on winding roads going through those Malibu hills. That would be spirit of the real life situation and would not require too much building of long rows of houses as are necessary in urban neighborhoods.
