TommyAngelo
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a single-player action role-playing game for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Ken Rolston, the lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, acts as the game's executive designer. Additionally, noted fantasy author R. A. Salvatore created the game universe and lore, with Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn, working on the artwork, and Grant Kirkhope, long-time composer for Rare Ltd., creating the musical score. It is being developed by 38 Studios and Big Huge Games. The game was released on February 7, 2012 in North America and will be released on February 10, 2012 in Europe. I picked up this game yesterday, and I must say it is more fun then I would though it would be. Honestly don't take notice of the crappy score GameSpot has given it(I prefer IGN anyway). I managed to play three hours last night before I had to force myself off to get to bed for work today. All I can think about is finishing work and getting home and playing it, haven't felt like this about a game in a very very long time. It basically plays a lot like all your favorite RPGs in one. The-King
Rock Paper Shotgun gave it a damn good review and they're about as harsh a reviewer as you can get from a purely critical standpoint, so if the demo alone wasn't enough to sell me it's worth purely on combat merits, RPS's review sure as hell did. I simply feel the need to bash him with a steel pole on the other hand, this first infection never ceases to be infuriating. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|

Creed Bratton
I have it. It's a good game. 10 hours in and I've only done 2 story missions. Combat is fantastic. The interesting thing about this is that 38 Studio kept the IP. They didn't sell it to EA. So you have 2 publishers. EA and developer. If you buy it on Origin or if you buy a physical copy (that requires Origin to be installed), you're giving your money to EA. But if you get it on Steam you're not giving EA a dime. That's what I've heard on the road, anyhow. Take it for what it is. And it's an open world game. But not Skyrim kind of open world. More like Fable. You don't really have a feeling that you're in a living world, more like in a playground. Which can be a good thing sometimes, and in this game it's definitely a good thing. And I think they were going for that because they even added an option to turn on friendly fire so that you can kill everyone you meet. Loch Dawg
I'm enjoying it, I can sit down and grind through a few quests and then jump off and do something else. I've made a rogue this play-through which is pretty fun, I can't wait to try out magic though.
Remix
I watched Destructoids review and they seemed to dislike most of it. The whole "no jump button" seems really lame too. I might pick it up when it's much cheaper.
Potato Boggle
This game seems to be very hit and miss with reviewers. I think now that everyone has been spoiled by Skyrim other RPG's are going to get bad reviews.I didn't think it was going to be good but I've been having fun on it so far. I'm not sure if I want to make an all out Mage or a Mage/Rogue. Any suggestions?
Padmasana
I went down the mage/rogue build, but I'm using the Might fate path for extra damage. Hate the camera in this game though, hope they patch it and allow for manual control of it soon.
jking
when i heard god of war meets oblivion with a borderlandsish art style I was down and I must say after 160+hrs of skyrim and then going into this i really noticed myself comparing it to skyrim but once I got over it, the game started playing like its own and its a cool game so far. I'm finding little things that they do better like smithing is a little more in-depth and when you have more than one house all your inventory is linked so you don't have to remember which house and where you put that Daedric Greatsword lol. Even the alchemy is a touch better is the sense that i failed creating a potion and it put an unstable potion in my inventory that could do you good or do you harm and i was in the middle of a battle with low health and I chanced it and it turned out to be a healing potion. Creed Bratton
I hope this game is moddable because it screams for a lightsaber mod.
Alick
Got it Friday, I'm 6 hours in and have only done one story quest. Can't put it down, I haven't personally played Skyrim, watched my brother play through it, but I can't compare. I'm playing through as a Rogue, and love the stealth. Is anybody else finding certain points to be impossibly hard? I also heard that the lead designer from Oblivion helped on this? So that would explain any/some similarities. Loch Dawg
Just found some faeblades and I'm going nuts with them, so fun! I've been questing all over the place right now, but I don't think I've really hit any main towns yet.

TommyAngelo
wow no one else playing this, its a shame i just level 11 and working on the house of ballads questline...interesting so far I thought a lot more people would be playing it to be honest. I've smashed around 20 hours already and I've only had a week now. Mind you I wasn't home for 2 days of that week. Yeah the house of ballads quest line is good, I've been doing that along with the war sworn and the travelers quest lines. Really enjoyable. Where are you up to on the house of ballads quests? I've just got up to the bit where Maid of Windemere wants you as a trophy and I think I'm going to have a final battle with her now to get the king back! Oh and I just hit level 16. TEoS
I feel like I should be enjoying this game... but I am not. I can't quite put me finger on it, besides it just feeling a bit wonky and in need of some polish. I am still very early into it so I'm hoping it grows on me, everyone at work is raving about it. Alick
It grows on you as you get further, the environments further in the game really amazed me, the only truly annoying thing about this game is the invisible walls around everything with a ledge, I hate that. Loch Dawg
Yeah a jump button would be so handy in this game. Did a quest in Ettinmere for some awesome daggers called 'Shine and Shadow', I'm level 14 and these f*cking destroy everything else I've found in the game. Gotta agree a jump button would make this game feel a lot more open. Still enjoying the f*ck out of it though. Haven't even got out of the plains area yet and I've played around 40 hours now.. Same here i too enjoyed the demo, i'm not too far in the game i'm after escaping the place where you start the game, i'm playing as a blue skinned elf like creature, those pointed ears are better than Spock's.
