Ayman1337
Yes, I know many of you are wondering how big the map of GTA V will be. Here are the map sizes for previous GTA games: GTA III (and LCS) - 3 sq. miles GTA Vice City (and VCS) - 3.5 sq. miles GTA San Andreas - 13.6 sq. miles GTA IV - 6.8 sq. miles I, personally, would be expecting at least 20 sq. miles or more for GTA V. Hopefully, they will model Los Santos after the real life LA (using satellite images) and make the map as big as Test Drive Unlimited (which is roughly 631 sq. miles) or even bigger! What sort of size are you expecting? Note: If it is a huge map, it can be generated using algorithms only the part around where the player is (like Fuel, Daggerfall or Minecraft!) Oh, and by the way, I'm not really sure how big GTA 1 and 2's maps are compared to the 3D GTA games so can someone please find that out for me? Thank you! SocalsZHP
This big. *Points to shlong* Or at least 1/3 bigger than San Andreas' map. I would be disappointed if it were the same size as SA

Chillzz01
I would love it to be twice the size of RDR. R* said it will be the "largest and most ambitious game rockstar has created yet".
Wannabe in LS
It's easier to create something the size of TDUs islands because they have repeated buildings and very little interactivity. Rockstar won't make a massive map that they can't flesh out. IV's Liberty City might not have had a lot to do on face value, but with so much variance in the architecture, for those that like that sort of thing, there was a lot of detail waiting to be appreciated. I'd be thrilled with 25 to 30 square miles of detailed, varied map.
senor_huevos_benedicto
It'll be big. #analysis
D.Dodge
The urbs of GTA IV and SA were big enough for me. I want that plus 40 square miles of desert forest and small cities.
NoxiousWR
They already confirmed it will be a very big map... so i'd imagine San Andreas size but probably bigger
Salt_The_Snail
This big. *Points to shlong* You'd really want such a tiny map? BURN! In all reality though, I bet it's not going to be as big as his momma!
DeconstruKt
It's GTA. It's gotta be huge, or else you run out of cool stuff to do.
Long_Haired_Boy
I want the map to show Los Santos but then take us to Vice City, where we have the choice to buy a plan ticket to travel between places. Oh Yeah. MAY GI GTA V Cover

Finn 7 five 11
Here are the map sizes for previous GTA games: GTA III (and LCS) - 3 sq. miles GTA Vice City (and VCS) - 3 or 4 sq. miles GTA San Andreas - 18 sq. miles GTA IV - 9 sq. miles I, personally, would be expecting at least 20 sq. miles or more for GTA V. Hopefully, they will model Los Santos after the real life LA (using satellite images) and make the map as big as Test Drive Unlimited (which is roughly 630 sq. miles) or even bigger! What sort of size are you expecting? Oh, and by the way, I'm not really sure how big GTA 1 and 2's maps are compared to the 3D GTA games so can someone please find that out for me? Thank you! Your figures are a, little off, ivwas closer to 6 square miles and san an dreas closer to 13 or 14 square miles. I think it will be similar to san andreas, if not smaller, but that is nothing to complain about san andreas hada good size, not too big with too much unnecessary space, it was just right. C2H5OH
At least 3 times the size of Red Dead Redemption!
Vormek
There's no way to measure the size of a map accurately in ratio to other games. Some people claim San Andreas is 18 square miles, some people claim it's 14 square miles, some people claim Red Dead Redemption is twice the size as San Andreas, some people claim that San Andreas is bigger than Red Dead Redemption. It's all a bunch of yapping! I hope that GTA5 will be two or three times the size as San Andreas. I have no doubt it will be bigger than San Andreas, but a map size at least twice the size of San An would be awesome! Think of all the places we could explore! HYPE! The_Majestic
RDR was bigger then San Andreas that's a fact. But in terms of Map Size GTA V WILL have the biggest map yet.

Great Banter. I'm more for quality over quantity in terms of maps, so I wouldnt want a huge map with f*ck all to do, SA had the perfect balance. Dick Valor
I would love it to be twice the size of RDR. R* said it will be the "largest and most ambitious game rockstar has created yet". This seems like a good size. Cars and jets are going to be much faster than horses and carriages so we will need the playspace. I hope the map is more elongated like RDR and not a square like SA; I think this will give it the illusion of being much bigger.
Gtaghost22
I want the map to be bigger than RDR and GTA:SA.. So maybe a 30-35 sq miles! That would be fine by me (i want it to be even BIGGER!!)

DynamicInABox
I think anything over 20sq Miles is not possible these days... but a San Andreas map is very possible, I would give it 13sq Miles. I think it is reasonable. Stop with the Outrageous numbers guys! Be Realistic here!
Elric101
I think the map will be between 42-56 square miles.

Stop with the Outrageous numbers guys! Be Realistic here! Yes, it is very possible, technology has improved vastly since San Andreas. So if they could have a map that big back then of course they could create something 3 times the size, its just lazy of them not to.

Kwandilibro
I'm goinjg to guess somewhere around 50-70 sq mi. I'm well aware of Dan Houser's comment on V having a "very big map". That coupled with the appearance of the Hydra/Hydra lookalike in the first trailer, leads me to believe that this is going to be a truly massive map, at least for GTa. Not I'm not saying that this will be a densely populated map. In fact, my guess is that the amount of countryside will be significantly more than the actual city itself. And of course there's the mountains.
Darrel
As big or slightly bigger than San Andreas. Perfect! not too big, or not too small.
