Go here, kill him missions.

We all know the "Go there, kill him" missions in GTA, but I think it's time for something new. I want the mission to have at least 3 different approaches (Shootout, Stealth1, Stealth2). Look at Hitman games from PS2, you were dropped in front of the location of your target and you had numerous ways to kill him (poison, shootout). You can observe the patrols so you know were they'll go, etc. You can find a hidden entrance, you can change outfit to not be noticed.

We need this, y'all agree?

Yeah, it's quite boring driving over there and kill them.

Why not having different ways to kill them?

Like stealth or poison or plant a bomb under his chair.

Not always just using AK's, grenades and RPG's.

Maybe even expand on Hitman! Imagine you have to kill a famous person that just exits that chinese building (forgot name) in LA at exactly 1200, so you can set up a sniper or attack his escort. Or you could set up a road block on his route and flank them. Or just tail him to his home and do it there!

how about a mission where you have to steal a hearse for a political candidate so he can eat the dead body inside?

Agreed. Get rid of these boring unrealistic missions where you go to a place and kill all the guys inside with guns blazing. Have more missions where you go bowling and wash cars. Fun things like that.

STEALTH

STEALTH

and MORE STEALTH! I think GTA needs to use stealth in most missions. It's not really challenging to blow people away while wielding automatic weapons. I'm not saying to change the entire shootout portion of the series, but sneaking up on people and breaking their neck, or smashing a beer bottle on their head is so much more fun. I particularly enjoyed The Warriors, the Syphon Filter series and the Hitman series because of the stealthy aspects of those games.

Have missions where you have to break in undetected in order to burglarize homes and businesses. Being caught should cause a swarm of cops to come after you, as well as other consequences.

Have missions where you have to break OUT of prison, a precinct or hospital. Make it where you have to accomplish a multitude of tasks in order to escape, including things like killing specific personnel, disguising yourself, or changing your appearance. If you are in prison, you could do favors for inmates, in return for items you can use to gain access to other areas. All while under the constant threat of other inmates or guards.

I'm just throwing out a few ideas where stealth could make the game more interesting than the typical rushing in with guns blazing missions. Give the characters specific goals that are more than just getting to a point on the map, and killing someone.

Remember in Vice City, where you had to get up to a vantage point in a building to take a photograph of some guy that was sunbathing at a hotel roof that had a pool? After you took the pic, you had to escape quickly while being chased by security. We need more stuff like that.

Stealth is way more fun than shoot outs, but it shouldn't be a stealth game of course. At least half of those should be shootouts, but the other half should let you choose.

Red Dead had a good variety of missions.

Yeah, and the family missions were also great. Not just a regular end, but the family still has to build up the ranch and stuff. I had the feeling everything was good, and was REALLY surprised and deep into the story when there was something wrong again. The end is GENIOUS, I was so confused and angry lol. I was like WHYYYYYYYY? But after the end free roam was ruined though.

Something like RDR is what R* meant with that bold, new direction in storytelling, no doubt.

To be honest I think there's not to many 'go here kill him' missions in IV its just that in IV there was no variety within the 'go here kill him' missions they were always set in a similar environment, some dark damp ally way and with the same desert eagle and the same AK-47, I think V should add some glamour to the mix, the protagonist should be the one giving orders not running around the city taking orders like a b*tch.

Thanks, have you played any of the Syphon Filter games? Those games were EPIC! I love stealth in games. There was a mission in the second Syphon Filter game where you had to sneak into a foreign prison for some type of objective that i can't quite remember. Anyhow, it was a LONG and complicated break in. You had to hide and wait for certain guards to move or leave their post, all while avoiding cameras and stealing keys in order to progress into the prison. When you got to the cells, you had to hang off a ledge to avoid being detected by more guards that would walk by right above you on a catwalk. I remember one guard stopping to smoke a cigarette.

Anyway, once he started walking again, you found who you were looking for and you helped him escape. There was so much more involved in that mission, but i can't remember it all. I do remember that the entire mission took really long because it was challenging and required so many different things to accomplish.

That series had so many other stealthy missions like that one, and that was on the PS1! It does'nt require sophisticated hardware to create fun and challenging missions that are not simply obliterating your target away with huge weaponry.

I think there will be more branched missions like the one where you have to kidnap Ancelloti's daughter.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer

It might be something like that mission or even more.

I played SF 1,2 and 3 on PS1 and it was my favorite game on that console, it was when i was 10 years old, so many memories, i want to be kid again dammit!

OMG, wait until you play Metal Gear Solid. It's pretty much one mission as long as a whole game. Very entertaining. And MGS3 and PW have a Camo Index (how easy enemies can see you), if it's 30% enemies will see you from about 70 feet and if it's 80% they'll not see you until very close. Say, you equip Tree Bark camo, Brown Face Camo, and stand in front of a tree, you'll be very hard to see. You can also grab them and question them or slit their throat or knock them out, its GENIOUS.

it's a PS2 game though smile.gif but there just now released a HD Collection of MGS games, which I'll buy for sure.

Yeah, i wish there were more games like that. The concept is simple, you are an agent who has to participate in missions that are part espionage and part assasination. Perhaps Rockstar's rumored AGENT will be something like this, but it's amazing how few games implement this type of gameplay. Even more amazing is how old those games are, proving that you can have innovative, challenging and fun gameplay regardless of the hardware's advancements.

The missions will be better because they will revolve around new toys/features that are introduced to the game. Also, GTA5 will be so diverse and massive, each mission will feel like your exploring a new place. Some new features that will most likely be in V are monster trucks, military jets, blimps, animals, flamethrowers, melee weapons, etc.

I DID play all of those MG games, and they WERE awesome as well. The only thing i did'nt like about the last one was that there was too much talking and cinematic sequences that you forgot you were playing a game. It was a bit too much for my taste, but the missions were great. The Warriors had great elements of stealth in it as well. I could'nt get enough of hiding in the dark and waiting for someone to come by so i could snap their neck. You could also make noise and lure someone to your spot so you could attack them.

The beauty of GTA has always been the freedom to approach missions however you like. Go here and kill this guy is the basic premise, but HOW you do it is up to you. That's not to say I wouldn't like more choices, a stealth option (as many other have mentioned) would be neat. I probably wouldn't use it much myself, but it'd be nice to have the choice. Personally I like sniping from a long distance.

The more options the better!

I liked the branched missions in GTA IV like Final Interview and I'll take Her. We definitely need more of them and riding shotguns missions too.

GTA IV's missions were fine IMO as they suited the tone of the game. I didn't know until the other day in Flatline you could pull the plug on the life support machine. I always killed Anthony with a knife.

I like these different ways to approach missions.

I hope this time you can let another friend do it for you.

Yeah these will be the missions,
Thats legit

OT: The vast majority of missions in the GTA series (not just IV) have been "go to point A, kill everyone", and I can't see them deviating too much from the formula in GTA V. But there's still plenty of ways to keep it fresh, but I'm too tired to go into them.

I'm no big fan of stealth, though. All that hiding in shadows, shuffling around with your knees bent, waiting till no one's looking, that's not the way I roll, homeboy. But as an option, that would be quite good. GTA needs more open-ended, less linear missions, where you can choose whether to go smashing down the front door all guns a-blazing or parachute in onto the roof and creep up behind people "ninja style" (as Ryder puts it).

Lol, it's so stupid no varieted missions.

I mean, when I had GTA IV, I was like a f*cking Rambo with hidden weapons arsenal!

I had any kind of heat like RPG, AK, SMG, Desert Eagle, Sniper Rifle, Molot and even a baseballbat lol

In GTA SA I only have a Rocket Launcher, Silenced Pistol and a sh*tgun and a camera to take beautifull photo's.

Hmmm, thinking about the camera....

Why the f*ck R* hasn't implented that feature?!?

Now GTAV looks very improved, they better add the camera feature.

Maybe a fake-named iPhone to take 1080p photo's tounge.gif

Even though the majority of the missions in 4 were simple, they were fun to do in 4 because the story and the gameplay was so great

but in GTA5 it would be great to have great story and gameplay ,and also great mission variety to.

GTA:SA had really fun mission without them being completely wacky

my biggest complaint with GTA4 was that 95% of mission were just shooting ppl

missions like these from GTA:SA should make a return

the mission where u burn down all that weed

the one were u go save mad dogg

stealing the the combine harvester from the hill billies.

stealing mad dogs rhyme book

the mission when u go out in to the dessert and pick up love first

there's loads more

these type of mission just make the game so much more interesting
