[WIP|IV|MAP] Codename: Clockwork Mount

I told you several times, but now I say again; this is the best map mod for GTAIV/EFLC already exist, the size doesn't matter when is really great built, very careful with details (objects, textures, etc) than one too big but "made in five minutes", without soul, don't know if you know what I mean.

Great map. This is the highest quality original add on map out there for GTA IV for sure.

 

Only issue with it is it eats up FPS in some areas. I have the Lod trees enabled. Is there any particular reason why the default set up has them disabled?

I get good FPS on GTA IV, I get FPS drops in China Town and Fish Market South like I do in some parts of this map. I got a FPS drop on the old build you gave me right in the square where the details are added (more vegetation).

Because that are Fake LOD trees, they are the copy with more distance view.

In fact you are loading 50% of more trees that are on the range of about 2 kilometers.

It's a good fps killer, especially where the map has more trees, that's why I made it optional.

But I think it would be really cool if you made a small town somewhere on the map. Maybe some buildings with interiors. Like maybe a bar, a diner, a few shops, a motel, gas station, and a couple of houses. A good spot would be in the part where the road goes in a circle. Only place a town could really be with out altering the land.

 

Edit: Looked at the Lod tree's through the sniper scope quickly. (if your fast you can see lods by doing that for an instant.) I noticed you used the high quality tree models as the lods. Why didn't you use the low quality one? You could of done it for a lot more trees too and it wouldn't eat up much FPS.

Ok but, let's face it, it would be too great and all.. but making a building or another object requires a big time, especially if you give detail to the materials..

The simple way is to convert them, but it would end in a conversion work, not modelling work.. and even if without too much objects, I'm happy to not be a CONVERTOR dozingoff.gifhappy.gif

 

And about the LODS, I didn't made lods because I didn't have the solution to do them.

They are Fake because they let you think they are Lods, but they are Not turn.gif

I see.

You can always use some existing IV buildings. (Ones from the northern part of Alderny would suit for creating a small town.) You might be able to add a radio tower on top one of the mountains that you can climb (like FC3) and parachute off of it.

Hopefully lods can be in later. The one thing I'm not to fond of with add on maps is when I fly toward them, I got to watch entire mountains appear. Hopefully S-Lods will be cracked soon.

 

Do you plan to do another version?

A cave would be cool but might be a little harder to do. If the cave had MLO, it might not be able to have water in it. Not sure, but I don't think the game renders water in interiors. With the water.dat mods that flood the city and turn it into The Day After Tomorrow water was invisible in interiors.
