TearsOfPain
Well, for me, culture means art, such as paintings, sculptures; writes and such. Since it's obvious Italy has the richest culture (that's what I think), there has been a dispute between French and German culture, aswell as it was a dispute between the countries too (talking about the 20th century). Basically, which culture is richer? And what are the most important culture acts in your country?
okei
The culture here, in the UK, is about as rich as an orphan child in Liberia, unless anybody wants to disagree with me but personally if I ever managed to get a well-paying job I'd be on the next plane out of here. Remember, it's only my opinion though.

okei
I do live in a sh*tty area in a city in the south west so maybe it's getting to me and I've lived in my fair share of cities and towns. Just compare this country to some other developed countries, ask any foreigner from mainland Europe and they'll tell you the UK is a sh*t hole. I have to agree with Sivispacem on this. Just because there are a lot of uncultured people in England does not mean it lacks culture itself. We produce great movies, plays, books, tv and music. We host some internationally renowned events such as the Edinburgh Festival. We have a rich history meaning some fascinating architecture and we have a diverse group of races meaning a mixture of cultures in the cities. The reason UKer's say the UK is sh*t is because the grass is always greener on the otherside.

Typhus
We have a delightfully bloody history, full of all sorts of monsters and tyrants. It's what's made us great. Plus, England is the most haunted country in the world, ghosts everywhere. But they're mostly moochers and refuse to chip in when the rent is due. Also, if you love urban legends, you'd love England. Why, just yesterday I was reading in The Times about a mysterious creature that has been spotted for years, some say it's a giant black cat. Well, now they've got a deer carcass and are doing DNA tests to determine what creature attacked it. It's stuff like that which makes me happy to be here, the little mysteries and quirks. And on that note, why not search for the elusive black squirrel? http://blacksquirrelproject.org/ The only problem is an obsession with quaint village life. The love of all things rural is choking this country. And when I say 'rural', I don't mean a love of wildlife. I mean the WI, Mary Whitehouse and a distrust of technology and the young. America combines incredible cities with amazing woodlands. We have one or two fun cities and lots of repressed, hideous little town mice bitching about the 'good old days'. Yes, culture is important, but to give the past any meaning, we must progress to a greater future. Which means being less bland and a bit more bombastic in our architectural constructs. Mister Pink
Ireland has a lot of culture but it seems to be waning since our last economic boom. We have a rich culture in music and literature. My non-national friends often comment on how many people play instruments here. Personally, my wider circle of friends enjoy, film, tv, poetry. Dublin, where I'm from, would have a huge number of bands playing in a huge number of pubs every night of the week. It's a small country but for the size of our small island and population there's a huge amount of music festivals that feature a lot of art. There's also a lot of uncultured people too. We're behind Europe in a lot of things but being sandwiched between Britain and the US we also get some crappy popular culture that creeps in to Irish society that makes me cringe. We have a lot of oompa loomps girls who think they're like west coast US chicks that just look awful and cringey. Typhus: lol @ most haunted country in the world. You mean most superstitious? Mister Pink
To add, most, if not all countries are rich in culture. Some countries leave more evidence of that, than other countries and others no so much but it doesn't mean there's any less. GTA_stu
Anybody know of, oh I don't know, a couple of little series of books and films that go by the name of Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter? They were written by J.R.R.Tolkien and J.K. Rowling who are both British. You're welcome. Shakespeare, ZINGA! Dickens, POW! George Orwell, BOOM! Wordsworth, SMACK! Brontë sisters, KAPOW! Rudyard Kipling, KABUNGA! Arthur Conan Doyle, ZINGA! Ian Fleming, C.S. Lewis, H.G. Wells... well you get the picture. We're not bad at music either, but I'm getting bored of writing lists so I'll just leave you with The Beatles.

Icarus
Canada will only be 145 years old on July 1, so we're still a fairly young country still trying to find its true identity. The culture we do have is that which has diffused up from the United States. Also, we can't forget about maple syrup, 'eh', hockey and what little remnants we have from our British heritage. Oddsock
I see lists of authors. Edgar Allen Poe Ernest Hemingway H.P. Lovecraft Orson Welles Orson Scott Card Mark Twain But that dick size contest aside, I think my country (America if you haven't gotten it by now) has less culture than older countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and so on. Nonetheless the size of America and its relatively short history has given birth to some very proud regional cultures. I find it interesting that the US has been called "cultureless" when "the American Way," based on the idea of American culture and lifestyle, has been the subject of admiration and adoration around the world for quite some time. Until recently anyway.
