If it is going to release in March/April 2012 then it would be really bad advertising for Take two and Rockstar. Now it would be IMPOSSIBLE for it to release in 2013 because $2 shares will have to last 4 to 5 months before March 2013 anything after March will damage their stocks unless they delay the game and why would Take Two and Rockstar miss Christmas? thats just pretty horrible sales since Christmas is when people buy games. If you ask me I think we could see a possible release in 2012 maybe October/November or Maybe in the Summer. They haven't started ANY marketing for the game yet, and there is always a 6-12 month marketing campaign before a game is released. That means the earliest we could see it is mid-summer. Considering most companies avoid summer releases, October (maybe November) is the most reasonable timeframe because they would logically aim for a release date that coincides with the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. LoveMediaExecutive Posted January 31, 2012 Share Posted January 31, 2012 We simply don't know when GTA V will come out and how the market react to it when it does come out, it doesn't matter when it comes out there is always going to be the possibility of competing with other big series, we don't know if the game will get delayed multiple times before finally coming out, we don't even know how far they really are in production. It could come out Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter, Rockstar decides this issue and whether they can beat competition or not, the ball is in their court, not ours, complain all you want but it won't change a thing. Neither do boycotts in case you are thinking of joining the bandwagon just because they are quiet about the game, if you are tired of the wait just stick GTA V on the backburner and worry about other stuff. Doesn't necessarily mean that they need them for GTA V. As far as I know, I think they got the team locked down since GTA IV. That's probably for Agent or another project. And for the people saying releasing GTAV will hurt MP3 sales or vice versa, Stop being f*cking stupid, it won't, they are two entirely different games, for two entirely different markets. You're kidding right? March is next month and April is only a couple of months. We haven't heard anything from R* about GTA V in 3 months and you think it'll get released next month at the earliest? As for the competition in October in case you haven't noticed GTA has been a traditional October release for quite a number of years. GTA IV was the exception because of the delay, but even it was scheduled for a October 2007 release. It's not some new series R* has to try and build a fanbase for. The GTA series is one of the most influential in the entire industry and because of that I don't think it matters what time of year it's released. People will still flock in the millions to buy it. Remember GTA V is almost 5 years in the making and it's a game people would cut their arm off for if it meant they could play it. Somehow I don't think R* will be at all phased of releasing it in October. If anything I could see it casting a huge shadow over some of the other big releases. They need a fairly large time period to get the marketing campaign going, and since they haven't started that yet, we can be confident it won't be released until at least summer or fall. I think the hype is pretty big even now after just 1 trailer and minor announcement. No, not really. It's marketing, son. They have to be featured in several magazines, release several more trailers, screenshots, the whole nine yards. Considering it's already February chances are it won't be released until October. For anyone to think that it could possibly come out around April or May, is incredible, and goes against all historical evidence of video game releases. Nobody releases games within such a short period of time after first confirming development, much less a company like Rockstar, which has a history of taking their time to not only develop, but market their games. Usually they'll wack a short add on tele, saying that it's out now, and that's about it. R* don't need to waste money on promotions, when the game already has a huge demand.
