This is the only 3D game I own, so firstly I am not bashing this game. I just dont know how they're meant to look, but I was pretty disappointed with my first 3D game experience. Nothing popped out of the screen at all, the graphics were way smoother but that's it. Are there any better games than this for 3D?

Meh, guess it's just me that's able to spend a couple of hours at a time just roaming the Frontier, admiring the scenery and hunting Foxes? :<

I do the Frontiersmen sidequests just so I can take in the scenery and explore the landscape. smile.gif

Just when I thought I was done with the game, I came back to the Frontier and it turns out I barely knew a square inch of that place. It's mostly untamed forests with towns and forts dotted into it. To me it's more enjoyable than New York or Boston. The only things you can hunt there are soldiers!

@Lightning Strike: About the Homestead missions, I see them as half of the story you're missing out on by not playing them. While Connor's not out being an Assassin, he built up a prosperous community of people that were ousted from their homes or of those that sought a new life. The Homestead missions tell what's happening on Connor's homefront while the war occurs in the big cities. It's a nice change of pace from constantly hunting down Templars.

Haha, good man wink.gif. I just absolutely love it. I've even got a spot on the map I've memorised, and it's my favourite hunting spot for foxes, as sad as that may sound. I just really enjoy the simple aspects of the game.

And the Homestead missions, I'd definitely recommend finishing for anyone still interested in the game. They can feel like a bit of a chore at times, and there really is a lot of them, but I enjoyed them, and it tied up the story a bit at the end of them as well. I've yet to buy a couple of the big games that came out for 2012, but from what I have bought, AC3 is my GOTY. inlove.gif

I don't think the game is proper true 3D, it's stereoscopic 3D. Nothing is really supposed to be popping out of the screen it's just supposed to give an illusion of depth.

Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY edition is said to be decent with it's 3D perception, although i've not played it in 3D myself. So you could compare it to that if you want to try it out.

Looks like some new DLC is dropping tomorrow for the multiplayer, bringing 3 new characters and 3 new maps.

Three New Characters

The influential Governor

The resilient Highlander

The fearsome Coyote Man

Three New Maps (for use in standard MP and Wolfpack modes)

The lush, tropical environment of Saint Pierre

The moody, atmospheric stronghold of Fort St-Mathieu

The embattled, enflamed Boston neighborhood of Charlestown

I'd also enjoy a prequel to ACIII involving Haytham and/or his father in London.

hey that's a cool idea actually icon14.gif

that would make a great expansion, perhaps.

but at the end of the day, I think the best move for the next full game would be Feudal China / Japan for sure.

to be honest, I was a little surprised that AC3 didn't go to China already. especially after they introduced Shao Jun (the "legendary" Chinese assassin who contacted Ezio).

Here we go again. I would get it, but the Hidden Secrets Pack gave us almost NOTHING good. Ubisoft sucks major balls when it comes to adding content to an Assassin's Creed game.

The problem with London is that I don't think our streets have ever been militarised, there wouldn't be any soldiers, only bobbies( old police term) with whistles and batons.

China sounds good though.

Crysis 2, Gears of War 3, and Call of Duty Black Ops 1 all have 3D options, also Batman Arkham City does as well, and they all look amazing smile.gif

I'm not a fan of 3D.

this applies to games and movies.

I don't understand the appeal. it makes everything look less realistic, not more.

obviously our world and our reality is 3-dimensional. but 3D in games and movies doesn't actually represent what our vision really looks like when we are looking out of our own eyes.

the same goes for motion-blur effects.

I usually turn this option off in my graphics settings on any game. not because my computer can't handle it (8GB memory, quad-core, GTX 660 2 gigs) but because it looks LESS realistic, not more. I've never understood why people think it adds to graphics quality, the same even goes for Ambient Occlusion. I turn these effects off since they are way too exaggerated in most games today. they don't actually represent how the world looks through human eyes.

Am I the only one that likes free-running with target crosshair on? makes it look allot like Gears of War.

Motion blur is meant for low framerates to fill the gap in between frames. Film (24 frames/second) has a lot of motion blur, because it needs it. Watching a movie without motion blur wouldn't be pleasant. The same goes for games with a low frame rate (30 fps or less). If your pc can handle a framerate of 60+ fps then you don't really need motion blur (although a little tiny bit still wouldn't hurt).

There was some unused audio in the ACIII which is from the novel, AC: Forsaken, but was never used actually used in the game. It's Connor's soliloquy from the epilogue of Forsaken which you can listen to here:

My Father left those for me. Mother, Father, I am sorry I have failed you both. I made a promise to protect our people, I thought…I thought if I could stop the Templar’s, If I could keep the Revolution free from their influence. That those I supported would do what was right…..they did, I suppose; do what was right. What was right for THEM. As for you, Father! I thought I might unite us…that we would forget the past and forge a better future. In time I believe you can be made to see the world as I did, to understand….but it was just a dream. This too, I should have known.

WERE WE NOT MEANT TO LIVE IN PEACE THEN!? Is that it!? Are we born to argue!? To fight!? So many voices, each demanding something else. It has been hard at times, but never harder than today. To see all I worked for perverted, discarded, forgotten. You would say I have described the whole of history, Father. Are you smiling then? Hoping I might speak the words you long to hear? To validate you!? To say that all along you were right!? I will not! EVEN NOW FACED AS I AM WITH THE TRUTH OF YOUR COLD WORDS, I REFUSE! Because I believe things can still change. I may NEVER succeed, the Assassins struggle for another thousand years in vain, but we will not stop!

Compromise, that is what everyone has insisted upon. And so I have learned it, but differently than most I think. I realize now that it will take time, that the road ahead is long and shrouded in darkness, it is a road which will not always take me where I wish to go and I doubt I will live to see it’s end, but I will travel down it nonetheless. For at my side walks hope. In the face of all that insists I turn back, I carry on. THIS….This IS my Compromise!

Text and video was found here.

It's a shame that this never saw use in the game since it actually show's Connor's progression as a character, the lack of which many believed to be his greatest fault in the storyline. Not to mention it was pretty darn epic. Anyone that is a fan of the story should give a listen if you've not heard of this. icon14.gif

Just completed it a few minutes before I post this,

I got the Freedom Edition, just to note. tounge.gif

If I may be honest, the ending was absolute bullcrap, I didn't like the way things came out at all.

But that is my personal opinion, after all.

Loved the storyline too, unfortunately my Xbox Live is down. So I can't play multi-player which is a shame.

Ah well..

Time to read George Washington's Journal, and play some DLC's! tounge.gif

Meh, if we're speaking of London in the early 1800's then yes there was the occasional guard, not that they had any power since Robert Peel didn't create the police force until 1821 and even then they weren't a wild success and it took time for them to spread throughout the country.

I wouldn't say don't buy it, but it didn't leave a lasting impression like the others IMO. It's a good game, but the bugs and glitches make it feel rushed and I dare say more than Brotherhood and Revelations and yet this one had been in development for 3 years?

Personally I think having Brotherhood and Revelations really killed AC III's true potential to be one of the best games of 2012 if not this gen. The whole 18th century Colonial America theme with a Native American protagonist was fresh, but it felt like it wasn't addressed as good as 15th century Italy which remains my favourite period of the series.

Once again I don't think it's a bad game, but its potential was severly hindered.

Indeed, there wasn't the gap that there usually is between these type of games and as such people got tired and bored of them.

The children on this game are so unrealistically annoying and repetitive, they could have at least of recorded more than 5 seconds of chuckling. And they could have at least made their AI half decent.

If the kids on this game are gonna be that annoying, they should have at least given us the option to slap them around the head.

Picked this game up the other day. I've put in about 4 1/2 hours so far and worked my way up to the part where Achilles gives you the robe(or whatever you want to call it).

I've been a bit put off by the slight change up in the combat mechanics compared to the previous games, but it's not a big deal. I'm enjoying it so far, but I feel that the lengthy prologue/training portion is gonna be a bit annoying on subsequent playthroughs.

I keep reading in places that if you install the discs onto your xbox you don't need the second one to play multiplayer.

I've had both discs installed since I first put them in and it's never worked, so is this just BS or am I doing something wrong?

Oh I put this down for a few skyrim months, but am back in the animus now... smile.gif

Edit: Question: what came first? The dark knight rises or assassins creed 3?

Without spoiling things, I'm sure the ones who got that far in the story know why I'm asking this.

Also is the season pass gonna be worth it?

what do you mean a couple of hours lol i just downloaded it this morning and i finished the DLC in like half an hour, only did the main missions dough, the story is also pretty interesting nothing spectacular dough i can't wait to wait for the other "episodes", from what i seen so far it looks like there were never meant to be any "episodes" but they just decided to split it and charge you 3 times for it, if the other "episodes" are the same length as this the whole "episode trilogy" will be the length of 1 medium sized chapter from the main game

I finished the game today. I liked Connor's story quite a bit. I like how the Templars were portrayed much more objectively than in the past games. The present day sections were better than in previous games, but I still had a "can I get back in the animus already" feeling when playing them, just like I did in the previous games.

I'd definitely say this game is a better installment to the series than Revelations was on a whole package basis. I'm planning on doing a 100% playthrough after I take a little breather from it. I barely scratched the surface on the frontier, only did the privateer part of the naval missions(even though I actually liked them), and didn't touch the club challenges/odd job missions at all, so I should have plenty of un-expirenced(not even a word, I know) stuff to do on another playthrough.

you won't want to play this game more than once after you finish it...

I'm curious as to why you thought this ?
