Slamman
Let's discuss specifically musicians as actors and actors who are musicians Johnny Depp, for example? Or actors who also were rap-superstars like DMX and Snoop Dogg, or Ice Cube? Edited January 30, 2012 by Slamman

Slamman
Ok What I mean, tell everyone HERE which are your favorites, who's best, who really only excels in one field but is trying to make a go of multiple careers, in other words
Rhoda
I quite enjoy Jeff Bridges' material. I never had him pinned as a musician until I read an interview he gave after the release of True Grit. He seemed to be plugging his album more than the recent film. From what I've heard, it's pretty much what you'd hear from any gravel-toned singer/songwriter but it's pretty decent.
Robinski
This probably doesn't really count,'cos she's not actually a musician proper, but Natalie Portman rapping is one of my favourite things on the internet: As for some real content: Joseph Gordon-Levitt's pretty big into music. He's one of the owners of HitRECord, some online collaborative production company. Here's him doing Bad Romance: And him singing with Anne Hathaway and an artist from Hitrecord: (the actual singing starts at like 3min in) I still can't believe that's the f*cking kid from 3rd Rock From the Sun. Voodoo
Shatner has a great musical talent in addition to his prowess as an actor.
Slamman
I could live a life without Marky Mark and his Funky Bunch, but as an actor, limited as he maybe, Mark Wahlberg has the presence on screen, even doing comedy he was fun to watch {"Where did you learn to drive?!" Will Farrell comments "Grand Theft Auto!"} Here's Crystal Bernard of the TV show WINGS, best known sitcom Along with Pete Cetera of Chicago fame ^ Edited February 3, 2012 by Slamman

Andyzoot
I was surprised to find a few years ago that Lance Reddick (Agent Broyles in Fringe, Abbadon in Lost and Cedric Daniels in The Wire) has another career as a singer/songwriter. He's actually quite impressive, I believe there are some of his tracks on his official website, but he also brought his singing to Fringe a couple seasons ago... Korpi
Don Johnson's 'Heartbeat' from Heartbeat album, 1986. Patrick Swayze's 'She's Like the Wind' from Dirty Dancing Soundtrack, 1987. Frank Stallone's 'Peace in our Life' from Rambo - First Blood Part II Soundtrack, 1985. Some of my personal favorites there.
Finn 7 five 11
How about Hugh Laurie? That song is really really lame!. Well Paul Mcdermott, not really an actor, but a comedian and seems to have a good voice and sings when he can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHH7TNdF-_4
Zyo
I think Hugh Laurie is quite a talented musician. Yeah some of the songs might be a bit "lame" but he plays guitar and piano (and other instruments) to a very high level of proficiency. The others that I think should get a mention are the Rat Pack. Frank, Dean, and all the rest were actors, musicians and singers, Millions of record sales and dozens of movies combined. Frank Sinatra is one of the most celebrated singers of all time and has won an oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Sammy Davis Jr, was doubtlessly the most talented singer of the bunch and made 38 movies spanning a career that stretched from 1933 to 1990. He himself had a Best Actor nomination at the Tonys in 1964. All of them were great musicians and great actors with long and distinguished careers in each field. Somebody a bit more recent I want to mention is Steven Van Zandt. Guitar player, songwriter, arranger and producer. Famous for playing in the E Street band and with Bruce Springsteen. Even more famous for "The Sopranos" playing the fantastic character Silvio Dante. John The Grudge
Somebody a bit more recent I want to mention is Steven Van Zandt. Guitar player, songwriter, arranger and producer. Famous for playing in the E Street band and with Bruce Springsteen. Even more famous for "The Sopranos" playing the fantastic character Silvio Dante. I loved the scene with him and Tony playing around having a slow motion boxing match. Donnie Wahlberg. He was in New Kids On The Block and currently stars in the excellent series Blue Bloods alongside Tom Selleck. He's very good in it and doesn't get acted off the screen by the big man. GreatGig
I think Hugh Laurie is quite a talented musician. Yeah some of the songs might be a bit "lame" but he plays guitar and piano (and other instruments) to a very high level of proficiency. I agree completely. His songs may not be as thrilling as others but they're such a joy to listen to simply because he plays so well. St. James Infirmary is one hell of a song. And this is just brilliant... Jeff Bridges was my other choice. His voice is by no means amazing but it's soulful and it compliments the guitar so well.
ilovebender.com
I thought Adam Sandler wrote this song, when I first heard it. turns out he covered it; pretty good cover too.
Slamman
Heck no, man, that's just wrong ^ hahahah Warren Zevon is most notable for the song, sung in his distinctive voice. James Taylor did a very short stint acting, I thought that was cool Edited February 24, 2012 by Slamman
