I don't quite know what the deal is with San Andreas but I remember there being copyright issues with GTA IV videos. You are not allowed to upload any IV videos with cutscenes or in-game music in them. Could be the same with SA unless someone can confirm otherwise. You can also try uploading a sample video and see if it gets deleted or something.

All computer programs have a notice of copyright or they won't be distributed to the public.

If you purchased the game it will have the copyright notice.

If you downloaded a warez/torrent game it is already in violation of the copyright.

The Limited Warranty notice is also the License Agreement (copyright notice).

Get permission in writting from Rockstar.

NOTE: copyright extends for 70 years after the death of the author. In practical terms this means that all software is copyright unless the author has specifically waived copyright.

The only problem I have had with GTA games and Youtube, is sometimes(not always), the songs in the game get flagged as a copyright violation, but just the music-never had a problem with game videos itself. The worse that usually happens is the Video(s) get blocked in some countries, but the major countries can still view them...I find a work around to this is to use the GTA III soundtrack, as most of those songs were made especially for the game, and as a result will not get flagged as copyrighted since they are not tied to the major record labels..

Also, using the "Education" setting decreases the chances of your video getting deleted it seems...

@Girish, What is the problem with IV videos, as I thought there was a setting for the in-game video editor that allows uploading to Youtube? Also, there are songs listed on the Edit Videos page in-game from the IV sound track...So, that part is something I am curious about? confused.gif

I too want to upload SA videos for quite a long time and managed to upload a few with copyright violation. In my case, all the violations were limited to Sound/Music. If you upload a video with blank audio, youtube never puts under violation claim.

As mentioned above, record video with blank music and only sounds than try to sync any music and upload it! It works.

POP warrior within is another example that I uploaded with no violation claim by minimizing music and recording only with in-game sounds.

Um then how come there are several "lets play gta iv" or "GTA IV walkthrough" of cutscenes? I think this may just be for Lost and Damned due to the "you know what scene" (with the penis).

From the GTA:SA copyrights, All modifications made belong to Rockstar. However the Music is Licensed. And that license doesn't extend to others. So if you look closer the copyright infringements seem to always apply to those vids using the ingame soundtracks music.

... Just a thought...

It's not really just with the in-game soundtrack, it happens with the User Track Station as well(and that is your own music)-I had this happen a few times..I mean, it shouldn't do that with the User Track station, as that is music that was purchased legally from I-tunes, Wal-Mart Downloads, and Amazon downloads, as well as free Radiostations-ie. 107.3 Hit Music NOW, 102.7 WXBM, Highway 98.1 Country, Cat Country 98.7, etc., that was recorded with Freecorder. According to the Copyright law, the exact is written:

First, the basic right of copying is outlined in section 1008:

§ 1008. Prohibition on certain infringement actions

No action may be brought under this title alleging infringement of copyright based on the manufacture, importation, or distribution of a digital audio recording device, a digital audio recording medium, an analog recording device, or an analog recording medium, or based on the noncommercial use by a consumer of such a device or medium for making digital musical recordings or analog musical recordings.

Next, comes the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). This is often used to stop distribution of certain copying programs. Replay Music operates by recording what comes out of the PC speakers, using capabilities built into Windows. We don't circumvent any copy protection systems, nor do we claim that Replay Music is designed to circumvent copy protection systems (which it isn't). The underlying technology behind Replay Music has been in use since at least 1999.

Source is Applian.com here, If I understand this right, it is basically the same as using a VCR or Cassette recorder or a DVD Recorder? I mean, I paid for the songs(which means I paid for the licenses to use them), it should be legal, as long as I am not selling/giving them away-I am after all using for personal use(in the game's User Track player as that is the purpose of the User Tracks Player-to play your own music)...

But, also, this question still remains:

What is the problem with IV videos, as I thought there was a setting for the in-game video editor that allows uploading to Youtube? Also, there are songs listed on the Edit Videos page in-game from the IV sound track...So, that part is something I am curious about?

You bought the use of the music for your own listening. You did not buy the rights to give it to the public.

There's a big discussion going on down in the Off-Topic Forum about this type of copyright infringement.
