abottig
The PS3 and Xbox 360 are gonna see at least two additional GTA games after GTA V. Just look at the release date patterns in the past: PS3 Launch: November, 2006. GTA Vice City Stories PS2 Port: March 2007. Use that as an example of why I think the current generation isn't going anytime soon. Two more games on current gen? Me no think so. More like: 2+ DLC "chapters" like EFLC for GTAV. Next gen will be here in about 3 years. I predict GTA VI will launch on next gen in 2016-2018.
Chukkles
Southern california means more than just Los angeles Exactly. Re-imagined South Cali. Southern Cali is a big place no? With many cities and towns. I personally am expecting at least one other fair sized city and 3-4 smaller towns out in the sticks.
grope_4_that_date
Rockstar has a history of keeping quiet. Like I said before, they're hiding a lot of things, but that's the 'magic' of it all.

StarFyer
The Housers are sneaky snakes aren't they? They are withholding too much info from their game, like, will it be as disappointing as GTAIV? Funny. The only people I know who think IV was disappointing are people on this forum. Otherwise, myself and everyone I know think IV was easily the best GTA ever. Maybe I'm just old (almost 27)? Everyone i know...including myself, thinks it was a disappointment. It's all a matter of opinion.

The less they know about how things are pieced together and how things are broken down and what our processes are, the more it will feel like this thing is alive, that you are being dragged into the experience. That’s what we want. It’s really important to us that the games (feel) kind of magical,” the company’s co-founder told Variety. itsonelouder
I think the idea that there is more than one city is dead now. In the interview he said the map was massive for Los Santos, with lots of countryside, which contrasts well with the urban sprawl of GTAIV. Serously we should be happy that the map is going to be very big and coming from Dan houser it must be enormous even if it's only one city it will still prove to be amazing

I don't think so, just because thye say one thing doesn't mean it's the whole thing. I mean in IV we were told we would be climbing up electricity poles and all sorts. Was it there ingame, no. They say what they want then do as they please regardless if it matches what they say.

Tipper
"I better be careful here...barbed wire" Was he trying to avoid the question of location to avert the bitter disappointment of one city That'd would be beyond stupidity. If there is only one city, since some people still keep hope of seeing more (and R* know it), the best thing to do is kill the theories in the crib. Why would they avoid disappointment now and save it for later? That makes no sense. If there is only one city, there will be a moment when it won't be possible for them to hide it anymore and they will disappoint a lot of people. Grand_Theft_Peanut
I dont even care if LV and SF arnt in the game... everyone seems like they will be hell cut if its only LS and surrounding countryside, this game isnt trying to be a remake of San Andreas so just look forward to whatever R* has planned for V because they have never disappointed us yet

Same with IV, if we had known what was actually missing before it released, it would make people think twice. As long as they have the money first, they wont care if people are pissed off. That's what they tried to do with the additional announcements after the trailer, but some people just refuse to take a hint, probably because they believe the game is going to be sh*t if it doesn't have three cities. I don't know, maybe they will accept it when the second trailer comes out and it's still Los Santos and surrounding countryside? Rockstar is never going to say that it's only one city, as if it's lacking cities, and it just shouldn't be required of them to talk about their games like that. Same with IV, if we had known what was actually missing before it released, it would make people think twice. As long as they have the money first, they wont care if people are pissed off. From what I remember R* actually DID reveal GTA IV had omitted a lot of the features from SA and other games. I remember in early 2008 not long after I joined people were alreadly complaining about no planes among others yet the game still broke sales records, go figure. Even as it approaches 4 years since release my opinion has always been the same. The ridiculous expectations most had is what led to GTA IV being disappointing to them. R* were always quite upfront I felt during the entire marketing program of GTA IV. People should've known what to expect, but they still persisted with these far fetched fantasies of theirs. I have my own minors gripes too, but I never once felt R* were holding back with GTA IV. Anyway for R*'s sake there's no excuses. GTA IV should be given a bit more leniancy IMO as it was the first GTA for this gen and blah, blah, blah we've it all before, but R* are claiming GTA V to be their most ambious yet and it's taking longer than GTA IV. I just hope it far exceeds everyones' expectations otherwise I don't know how R* would recover. I'm rarely disappointed and have always been impressed by R*. I have a great feeling GTA V will keep it up. Edited January 30, 2012 by Miamivicecity

A reimagined - and not a (1:1) replica - of southern California. So that doesn't mean, they are going to include every city in reallife southern California. There are most likely small towns around the main city, Los Santos, with countryside, desert and mountains. And that's still enough content for a big map.
