I was in awe of the map when i saw it then I played the game. The Protag from TCLA makes Niko look like Tommy Vercetti. the worst (thankfully you could play as Snoop Dogg), The game to me didn't have any real charm. it was quantity>quality w/ that game.

The people saying that GTA V will be bigger than TC are probably the same people who haven't played TLOU, yet are bashing it in GOTY thread. Go play it. I remember playing day long sessions of it as a kid, and just traveling around the outside of the map. That's how big it is. 240 square miles > 20 square miles. Also, if you haven't played TC: NYC, go get it. It had a lot of features that GTA IV and GTA V borrowed and claimed was new. Subway and taxi travel, bribing and planting drugs, a LOT of interiors, storing weapons in your trunk, a LOT of destructible environment, multiple fighting techniques, flying out of the windshield after a head on collision, and so much more that I've forgotten. A pretty good soundtrack too. Oh, and you could play as Method Man, so I guess multiple protagonists as well.

True Crime = Sleeping Dogs?

Yes. I believe they went bankrupt, and another company bought the franchise and changed the name.

i remember the la map for true crime being insanely big, the streets were all almost indentical though however, but there was a s**t load of them, hated the final mission where you have to fight that chinese guy on the runway, id get destroyed like a lil school girl, and have to drive for like 20 mins from one side of the map to the other just to replay it confused.gif

Considering True Crime used a literal map of L.A. (to the point where you could actually use a REAL L.A. road map to get around), there's no way GTA's world will be a more accurate depiction of L.A. than TC was. GTA's will be a much funner experience and probably have that L.A. "vibe" better than TC. But more accurate? Impossible

The Notorious MOB

As you say True Crime NY only included Manhattan and Streets of LA didn't include an of south central or the airport, mountains etc. it was basically the same size as Midnight Club LA or perhaps LA Noire in terms of districts. GTA V's map will be much bigger.. it wont be as accurate but I think it will be just as detailed.

Yes. I believe they went bankrupt, and another company bought the franchise and changed the name.

Activision was publishing it as True Crime: Hong Kong with United Front Games making it but dropped the project when it was a good ways into development and Square Enix picked it up, no one went bankrupt, Activision just didn't think it was worth the investment.

Extremely fun game. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a semi-open world game. It's linear in story structure, but boy is it fun.

True crime la was the best of that series. The other ones were watered down with less features and more repetitive.

Ah yes, True 'Grime'. I got both games right here. I had so much fun with em smile.gif

Anyway, True Crime are perfect games, nice story, very realistic and big maps, both had an awesome rapper in a side mission (in SoLA you could play as Snoop Doggy Dogg and in NYC as Redman! GTA HAS TO DO THIS LOL), slow motion shooting and other stuff like Max Payne has, 10 or so fighting styles, sh*tload of guns (about the same amount as SA, in NYC you could blow someones leg off and use it as a melee weapon xD and yet it wasn't banned or anything), different endings based on how you behave (like RDR's honor) and not just 2 (good/bad), but multiple. And NYC looks like a friggin PS3 game lol. And these are old PS2 games, with SoLA even being a 2003 release, with way more features than SA

Really, R* can learn from this (and SA did in most aspects, I guess that's why they put in that 'True Grime' billboard: to troll TC after they took some ideas lol). The only thing GTA is better at is gameplay and value after finishing the story IMO. Btw, wtf is going on with TC nowadays?

Dude, True Crime NYC does not look like a ps3 game it's map is extremly bland and grey and a bunch of grey boxes, you have to be kidding me, though it is replicated well, it has barely any detail.

EDIT: I had no idea about the date when reading this thread lol
