I have True Crime NYC for PS2 (pirated), but I haven't played it yet. I can't find Streets of LA anywhere, so I may never be able to play it sad.gif

Right now I'm in the middle of a playtrough of San Andreas, I'll probably play TC NYC after that.

Come on... the game is 7 years old and you can't find a copy anywhere.

I Don't Kare. True Crime was horribly bad. Don't know why you'd want to play that again.

Also accuracy doesn't come into play here, since GTA always has fictionalized and condensed cities, so technically it's not even LA.

I have to admit, i remember being quite impressed by TC:NYC's map. That was mostly due to the fact that i live in NY, and pretty much know Manhattan like the bottom of my hand. I was amazed at how accurate it was. It's almost like using Google maps.

That being said, i don't think it's important to have an exact replica of ANY place. The only people who would notice are those who actually know these places first hand. What's important is having a large, diverse and highly detailed map. Not having to make things accurate allows the developers free license to use their imagination to create the most interesting environment possible. As for the True Crime games, the maps were impressive for their time, but you weren't flying planes either.

True crime LA was a great game when it came out. I loved it and played it often. No doubt it is massive, SA map doesn't came anywhere close to be a quarter of TCSoLA map.

Thing is the boring suburb areas of True Crime where not very detailed, more like a copy and paste job was done on many streets.

As a matter of fact first time I drove in LA I got to a few locations and thought "I remember seeing this location on True Crime" especially around Santa Monica area.

No doubt they did a good job as an overall replica of the city, but the detail is not there.

BullworthAcademy.

True Crime LA was actually a pretty big game. I remember just free roaming for fun and hoping onto the freeways in the map and just driving on it straight for 10 minutes without ever needing to stop.

I remember being impressed with that for some reason.

Ooh, I beg to differ.

Anyways, the map looks tiny. Someone tried to exaggerate it, but the yellow lines are freeways, white roads, and dark grey alleyways (those dark grey lines look nothing like a road system)

It's not huge. The cars were just very slow.

Yellow are freeways, white are major roads and grey are minor roads.

True crime is MASSIVE compared to SA. There is no denying it. I have played both games extensively.

I think SA is a better game, but true crime is much bigger.

Bigger doesn't mean better.

I remember watching street names while driving around. Some streets were missing, but over all it was a pretty accurate replica of the real city.

I used to watch my brothers play it when it was new and the map was amazing. It was huge and  felt like a real city. It even had unfinished areas outside the map that you could glitch to. The map would have been too big if those areas were finished. Trust me, GTA maps certainly are not bigger. It took a couple minutes on the main freeway to get from east to west. If GTA is that big with all its detail and country it will surely be amazing

The beta the map was going to be 400 square miles not the 240 it had in the final, that explains the unfinished areas. And also the xbox version was one of the few games that utilized HD on the xbox and ran at 720p.

Yeah for the people who haven't played TC streets of LA they truly don't know how big

that f*cking map was. That sh*t took me about a day and half straight to get to almost

all of the parts of that map, and I was still finding new sh*t. It was like an half of hour

from when you start from the precinct in the begging of the game to rodeo dr. If you

follow the traffic laws.

I don't see why V map can't be like that, even with the IV in depthness.

honestly true crime sucked. the map was so copy and pasted with houses that driving through the suburbs literally felt like flying out into the ocean in a helicopter in gta. it was just the same sh*t over and over and over again. the gameplay sucked, the story sucked, and to be honest sleeping dogs sucked. i played it for about 45 minutes, absolutely hated it, and never played it again. its one of the many games ill be trading in towards my copy of gta v

to me the map was not small at all it did take a while to get from one side to the other but the graphics sucked it was ok for that time the story line and game play was horrible if I had the game today I would prob take it for a spin but thats about it to take a cruise

Really, it's about the detail of the map and the amount of stuff to do in it. I will give True Crime credit for having GPS-accurate maps but based on what I've seen, the detail and variety of GTA maps is lacking a bit.

True Crime used to be so damn great! It was the only open world game to ever be real close to GTA. Hell, it was basically the police version of GTA, and definately the same quality. They actually COPIED the city rather than reimagining it. Size wise it beats GTA, accuracy wise it beats GTA, but detail wise and feature wise R* has always been a real gem. But in the end, these are two series of which I want each and every installment on my shelf (and I do). Just too bad True Crime won't be expanding.

How has the poll resulted in the majority voting that V will be more detailed and bigger ?!?!?!

Sure, it'll have more stuff to do, but we KNOW it's not going to be bigger, even nearly.

true crime had a fun world to explore. it was seriously huge, its bigger than what the map shows you, also had multiple cities.

True Crime streets of LA´s map really is enormous. It takes more than 10 minutes to drive across the map in a freeway with a sports car. However the problem with the map was that it didn´t have any details and all the neighborhoods looked the same.

Man, you're a newb. No one at the time knew how big it was just that rockstar said it was a very big map. And learn to read the dates.

What this poll does indicate, is how low the IQ's are of most of the R* dickriders voting on this forum. As if it was ever going to be more accurate than TC's GPS exact version of Northern LA. As if it was ever going to be bigger than TC's 240sqr miles. And all GTA's are more detailed, they always have been even on PS2, so it's obvious there final game for PS3 would be. This poll was a no brainer. Well at least for 5.7% of voters.

Holy sh*t , wow.gif.

I have had this game for years , and played it as a kid however I never really noticed how large the map is , occurring to Wikipedia it's 620Km2!

I'll have to go back and play this sometime soon , I still have it , along with the vast majority of my ps2 games I had as a kid , only sold one game and lost 1 or 2 , that's it.

I still have this bad boy for the Xbox. Too bad I dont have an Xbox! But still, of course GTA V's map will have more detail, True Crime must be a decade or so old now.

It's a shame they called True Crime 3 Sleeping Dogs, a sad end to a good franchise.

I have it for the XBOX (TC: Streets of LA), although I haven't played it for YEARS.
