What's this obsession with map size? Bigger =/= better. You can have a huge map, but if it's filled with buildings, and general nothing-to-do'ness, then what's the point?

Guys Guys Guys!

True Crime: Streets Of LA map is GIGANTIC.

GIGANTIC.

It's 240 square Muthaphukkin miles. That's over TEN TIMES the size of SA's map.

TEN F*CKING TIMES.

You see those streets on the map? Guess what... they're MASSIVE FREEWAYS.

You see all those tiny looking alleyways in between? They're FULL SIZE streets.

GTA V is going for a "Movie LA" experience, if R* are sticking to IV's mantra, so the city needn't be even 10% of True Crime: Streets of LA's size.

It's all about the vibe folks.

I remember the STREETS OF L.A. map being very big. But I also do remember that the game actually was sh*t.

But on topic:

Now after R* having already created a LOS SANTOS map, MIDNIGHT CLUB LA and being involved in LA NOIRE I assume the map will be detailed & huge.

Liberty city map was small as f*ck and it didnt have staten island. I really hope los santos cover all of la and not just some of it. I want it to really look and feel like la.

I don't know what you're smoking, that map looks tiny to me.

EDIT: Notice how I said that the map looks tiny. That's a hint that I don't actually know.

You kidding me? It's a on scale representation of Los Angeles, meaning it's the same size. If you didn't take the freeways and followed the traffic laws, it would take hours to get from one side of the map to the next. You're all fooling yourselves if you think it's going to be bigger. Will it be more detailed? Probably yes.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, don't compare this sh*tty game to GTA V. True Crime's map was terribly designed.

let me break it down mathematically.

R* Developers + GTA maps (regardless of size) = detailed for their time

smaller + detailed = good game

bigger + detailed = amazing game

good game<amazing game

(since detail and quality are synonymous with GTA as a constant, then we can cancel it out)

therefore bigger=better in the context of GTA

I never played L.A., but i did play True Crime NYC, and i WAS impressed. Sure it does'nt stand up to current standards, but i was amazed that it was an EXACT replicated map of Manhattan. I'm from New York, so i think that if you know the area that the map is based on, it will have a stronger appeal to you. I remember going through every single block, just to see how accurate it was. I'm surprised that no one else has done an exact duplicate of a real map again. My biggest disappointment with that game was realizing that i could'nt drive to my house in the Bronx, LOL.

I miss the True Crime games sad.gif

TC NYC was the bomb IMO. Never really liked SOLA though. It was fine until it introduced dragons and whatever in some f*cked up dream sequence from what I remember.

so the majority of people think that GTA V will be bigger than 240 square miles...

... prepare for disappointment i reckon.

Most of the people who voted have never actually played TC. Hell, some of them don't even know what it is. Just let this poll be a representation of how ignorant/idiotic some of these people are.

The only problem with the True Crime games were how repetitive the maps were, but they were large, and amazing for the time. There were some really nice details they pushed out on the last generation with that game. The maps had all the real city districts, but lacked real specific details. Nothing made the districts different from one another, except for a few landmarks.

TCLA was not as big as people like to think. I played it, a LOT. It was boring and the map was easy to navigate because of its easy to memorize layout.

GTA V

s map will probably be a little bit larger, but not as accurate as TC: Streets of L.A's map. I didn't like the fact that TC: Streets of L.A had such a large map. There was nothing to do in that sh*t.

To all those that voted for bigger and more detailed map, have you actually played True Crime? Not trying to come off as a douche or anything, but TCs map will be bigger, it's pretty much a carbon copy of Los Angeles. GTA V map will be more detailed I can be sure of that. Ok think back to San Andreas map size, now imagine a map ten times larger than that. Now ask yourself has any of Rockstar's previous iterations even matched San Andreas size, no. Then why would V make such a huge jump in terms of size. So please don't hype yourself up for disappointment.

As much as I love TC, details >>> huge copy/paste

...in that case - "Only more detailed/accurate" should have been picked as an option, instead of "Yes, it will be more detailed/accurate and bigger" option...majority of people who voted here clearly doesn't have a clue...even with RDR, SA and IV worlds combined together with a room to spare won't equal 240 sq miles of Truce Crime LA map...maybe it will be bigger than TC NYC's map, since its considerably lesser in size than its prequel...

I Shot The Sheriff

I have True Crime NYC for PS2 (pirated), but I haven't played it yet. I can't find Streets of LA anywhere, so I may never be able to play it sad.gif

Right now I'm in the middle of a playtrough of San Andreas, I'll probably play TC NYC after that.
