Okay, this just came to my head. I just returned to playing both True crime streets of LA and NYC. And even though the graphics are really dated, the map seemed really big and detailed on the locations and accurate on the landmarks. I was wondering would GTA V be like this, but better? In my opinion True Crime streets of LA got most of the street names and map size correct.

I would also like to note that while playing True Crime NYC, True Crime NYC map seemed more bigger and detailed/accurate then GTA IV NYC, even if True Crime NYC map only included Manhattan. I mean I had to use taxi must of the game. I just wonder, will GTA V map be like this?

What are your thoughts.

I don't know what you're smoking, that map looks tiny to me.

EDIT: Notice how I said that the map looks tiny. That's a hint that I don't actually know.

My exact thoughts.

How about "Skyrim vs. GTA V" that sounds better.

i'm not smoking nothing. Its just speculations. For some reason, when I was playing the game, the map seemed big.

Reason why I showed TC streets of LA, is because GTA V is taking place in LA. Also in my opinion, TC streets of LA seemed accurate on LA.

True crimes map is huge and accurate with the real life map with street names and landmarks. Gta v will not be like that but a smaller condensed version of a wider area.

Have you chaps (bar OP) even played any of the True Crime series? The maps are mahoosive! Almost exact geographical representations! True Crime: Streets of LA's map alone dwarves any GTA map created thus far. San Andreas included! cry.gif

No but it looks damn small from here.

Out of curiosity when was the game released?

Even if I haven't play the game I refuse to believe that a game can have a bigger map than an already stated huge game from 10 years later.

I remember playing it in 2003 and a friend of mine who used to live in LA told me how to get to his old house. When I arrived in the game he said it the area looked just like in real life. I was impressed.

I used to watch my brothers play it when it was new and the map was amazing. It was huge and felt like a real city. It even had unfinished areas outside the map that you could glitch to. The map would have been too big if those areas were finished. Trust me, GTA maps certainly are not bigger. It took a couple minutes on the main freeway to get from east to west. If GTA is that big with all its detail and country it will surely be amazing

Same thing with TC NYC in a way. When I was living in America. I lived in NYC and when I played TC NYC. I was very surprised how similar the game looked to its real life counter-part. Same thing with GTA IV to an extent.

10 years later? They teach you math in school? mercie_blink.gif

Believe what you want. But the True Crime maps pride themselves on being (almost) exact geographical representations of the cities they're set in. Meaning, they're not based on L.A or NYC like GTA maps, they're replicated cities implemented into a video game. Geographically, the only comparable Rockstar map would be RDR's and I'd bank on that being around the same size, if not smaller than TC:SoLA's map.

have you played that game? that map is defiantly NOT tiny. I remember trying to drive from one one side of the city to another, and it took forever! buy the game and see for yourself.

Guys Guys Guys!

True Crime: Streets Of LA map is GIGANTIC.

GIGANTIC.

It's 240 square Muthaphukkin miles. That's over TEN TIMES the size of SA's map.

TEN F*CKING TIMES.

You see those streets on the map? Guess what... they're MASSIVE FREEWAYS.

You see all those tiny looking alleyways in between? They're FULL SIZE streets.

GTA V is going for a "Movie LA" experience, if R* are sticking to IV's mantra, so the city needn't be even 10% of True Crime: Streets of LA's size.

It's all about the vibe folks.

At the time of writing, I was told on this thread that it was released in 2002.

It's now 2012.

That's 10 years.

Yeah I know, I was just saying at the time of writing to my knowledge it was 10 years to the guy who said I was an idiot and clearly doesn't read posts in order.

And, if my predictions about the game coming out in 2013 are true, it still will be 10 years.

The maps from True Crime games are bigger, mostly because most of the buildings are shaped from a box (no details), L.A Noire's city is more comparable, by both size and quality.

True Crime is a block by block recreation of real life L.A and GTA V will just be a parody of L.A so the two maps have almost nothing in common. And true crime is HUGE but its less detailed than Vs map will be.

Looking at pictures of the game I'm very impressed by the size of True Crime's map.

However the only thing they've emphasised about GTA V is the map size so I still think it'll be bigger.

And more detailed, either way.

You can't compare the two maps. The one is Los Angeles and the other Los Santos. That's why i like GTA Cities. They are just based on real life cities. I don't want a 250 squaremiles big Los Santos. 20-50 squaremiles are enough.

Yeah True Crime maps are massive and realistic in terms of size and layout, but there is very little diversity, and buildings/streets are continually duplicated. There is very little variety, and it all looks the same. GTA trades sheer size for quality and diversity, making it much more fun and exciting. GTAIV will not be as big as Truce Crime maps, not even close. But it will be extremely detailed down to every nook and cranny, and every street, etc will be different and unique.

I remember getting lost in both TC:SoLA and TC:NYC. The maps were exactly based on the real cities. If anyone here hasn't played TC games then play it, the story is amazing. In TC:SoLA they featured Snoop Dogg, and in TC:NYC Redman. biggrin.gif

True Crime's maps are huge but the gameplay standard. Compared to GTA's scaled down replica of real life maps and more fun.

I voted for "More Detailed/Accurate" but anyone that has played True Crime knows GTA won't be nearly as accurate. True Crime was nearly 20 times the size of San Andreas to put it in perspective. That's proof GTA won't come close to the size of it. The detail in the GTA map will make up for that though. I'm thinking GTA V will be around twice the size of San Andreas at most.

What's important though is how the city feels. And in each GTA game, the city felt just right for what was going on. Sometimes it just felt tedious to travel around the TC map. Also, you never really learned the map. There was so much road to travel that you were constantly seeing new sections you've never seen before. So it's both a blessing and a curse for a 260 Sq. Ml. map.
