Nostromo9
I've spent four hours straight trying to rectify this problem by reading posts, changing settings and I've had enough. I understand that this same problem has probably come up a million times already so I'm sorry to bring it up again. I installed a legitimate DVD copy of San Andreas on my computer recently and it worked fine, with sound, visuals and functionality (after, when prompted, I adjusted recommended settings to that it could work). Today, when I tried to open it up and play it again, it simply wouldn't load, even when the menu came up and I clicked on the play button. I have a brand-new Asus A53TA-SX080V laptop that easily exceed the recommended specs. I also have the latest driver updates as far as I know. Things I have already tried: - Running San Andreas in compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME, XP Service Pack 2 and 3, and Windows 7 with no success - Run as administrator - Uninstalling and reinstalling (then restarting) the computer - Deleting the gta_sa.set file Nothing has worked and I'm not sure how to lower the graphics. I'm thinking that maybe I just can't run San Andreas on 64-bit Windows 7... Maybe the fact that I used a cheat the first time I played it has done something to it. It was just the health, armor, money cheat I think. I didn't even play it enough the first time to end up saving - I was just trying it out. Thanks for your patience. Girish
The game should run fine on 64-bit Win 7. It runs fine at my end. And no cheat would damage your game in that manner. It has got to be something else. Are you able to get to the Main Menu? Or does the game not load at all upon double-clicking the icon?
Nostromo9
Bizarre. Last night, I couldn't adjust my resolution back to the default setting. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game last night must have helped because when I turned the computer on today the resolution is back to the default setting AND San Andreas seems to work perfectly so far when I opened it under XP service pack 2 compatibility. The resolution hasn't even been changed this time which is good - all that happened is that the Windows 7 colour scheme was changed to basic mode or something automatically. Funny how things sort themselves out sometimes. I will post again if there are any other problems to do with running the game. Thanks for your reply.
