More open Buildings?

Do you think the updated Rage engine would be capable of this?

 

I'm hoping you'll be able to interact and enter more buildings this time around, while GTA IV had it's share of buildings we could enter, some were only open during missions.

 

I recall in GTA:VC having an open mall you could go into, now that was a blast.

I don't care if more buildings are able to be entered or not, just so long as you are able to do stuff while inside of these buildings - such as shops for buying stuff (clothes, food, guns, etc) and as well as safehouses. Having a whole bunch of buildings that are able to be entered, but can't do anything inside of them (serve no purpose, anotherwords), would be rather pointless as well as a waste.

 

I'd be happy if the number of buildings that are able to be entered in Grand Theft Auto V is around the same as it is in Grand Theft Auto IV.

DTUMan is right. I think R* should make these buildings generally more interesting to be in. I don't want a heap of interiors if there's nothing to do in them.

 

I do miss the mall from VC though.

Yes, I'd love to see some enterable buildings, such as:

 

24-7s

Homes (like in Burglary)

Bars

Banks

Restaurants (Burger Shot, Pizza This, Wigwam, Cluckin Bell and Up-N-Atom)

Clothing Stores such as Modo and ZIP

Pharmacies

Supermarkets

Liquor Stores

Prisons

Gyms

Gas Stations

Warehouses/Factories

 

I'd be very satisfied.

Well, a mall would be fantastic.

 

I've always wanted to "rob" a liquor store in GTA IV.. sadly it wasn't possible.

 

Banks too.

I don't think it's the engine limiting interiors so much as the fact that it's that much more area to design and build. All the interior floorspace in a city might be greater than the outdoor area of the city!

Absolutely agree with you here. I would imagine that it would take a hell of a long time to design countless different interiors - unless of course Rockstar decide to recycle the same interiors for different buildings, as was the case with GTA: San Andreas with several interiors being re-used for different buildings (I don't particularly want to see 50 copies of the same interior in different buildings). A few well-designed unique interiors is a whole lot better then the same interior used 50 times.

 

I also agree that an enterable mall would be cool!

It was weird to not have atleast 1 small shoppingmall per island in gtaiv or restaurants that you could just walk

in to and have a quick meal to boost your healt.

 

it was fun to drive in the vc mall once in a wille for qicks.

If they serve a purpose, like various types of shops, internet cafe's, places to start mini missions, etcetera then yeah, more enterable buildings would be nice.

 

It'd also be nice if you could rob things like Liquor and convinice stores again, like in VC, I rember that if you pointed your gun at a clerk, money would appear over time and they'd trip the alarm.

An interior I'd like to see most is having the first couple floors of one of the city's skyscrapers accessible. And then have an elevator that can take you up to the top where you'd have a couple of the highest floors accessible, with a stairwell leading up to the roof.

 

I was hoping to see something like that in IV since NYC is famous for its many highrises, so I had a strong feeling at least one of them would have that. Rotterdamn Tower did come somewhat close in the DLC's with having an enterable lobby though, but it wasn't enough! Perhaps in V... things will be different. user posted image

 

But if that's too much to ask, I do love the idea of another enterable mall. I loved the one in Vice.

I may sound a bit negative but it is not possible to include More Open Buildings rather few stores or malls (like in SA) that do not require recycling of new objects but same stuff, for example, 24-7, clucking bell, burger shot, etc. All look same with no variety though still had an interactivity placed in the game world. Compared to San Andreas, IV was cut out a lot less interactive places despite small map and yet SA had that feel to it.

 

I think more graphical enhancements are plastered over the game more sacrifice is done over the Enterable objects/Placing system that reuses stuff that allows allocating new ones later (example: Same Internet Cafes in IV but with new names, new areas for Clubs, etc. This is ideal for games that have high level of graphical frequency shown in such as weapon projectiles, destructibles and environment textures.

 

Expecting More Buildings with different Textures and Objects will demand less Object recycling and reusing more memory that has already been allocated by modifying objects rather that allocating more memory using the old stuff. Modifying them will in turn require a hell lot of memory and storage to make it effective

 

I would love to see more Interactivity with different Objects and Areas to Enter but NOT at the cost of game graphics and smooth frame rates

I too am hoping for more accessible interiors as well, and interact with the interior also. Would definitely add some life to the city.

Creepy foreboding poster is creepy and foreboding. But OT I just hope they have more imteractive buildings then IV had, I'm not sure how realistic that hope is considering memory and frame rates and all that jazz that's been previously mentioned. I just hope the ability to buy money making properties and businesses return and that you can enter and manage these places on a deeper level than what we had in SA and VC

These are the clothing shops i want:

 

Metal/rock style

r&b/rap style

army style

Perseus (GTA IV) style

just basic clothes like Binco (GTA SA)

Western style

 

________________________________________

 

I also want to be able to enter a:

 

Gym

supermarket

Airport (without police chasing you -___-)

almost all the houses in wich you can steal money, clothes and other stuff

Comedy club, stripclub etc.

Cluckin' Bell, Burger Shot, and the pizza restaurant.

Police departments etc.

An airport that you can enter but it is fully functional unlike the one in Vice City with peds waiting to board planes and get off them. Imagine the fun you could have disrupting all that.

 

Sports arenas with live matches going on, maybe an indoor basketball court where the pro's play.

 

An indoor ice ring or one of them indoor ski slopes would be cool.

 

A massive mall where you can buy just about anything, that one in Vice was good but you should be able to interact with more shops.

 

Normal houses should be enterable but some should be locked where you can pickpocket the door (like in Skyrim), you should be able to steel things from their house especially if nobody is home. Maybe you could steel a flat screen tv, take it to your safehouse and be able to use it there! Customizable safehouses maybe you could steel a pool table or slot machine from the casino, load it into a van and take it home! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

 

The use of interiors has really lacked in gta, hopefully they make more use of them.

I would like enterable airports please (Notice the plural). Also bars, banks, convenience stores, fast food stores, restaurants, houses, apartments and hotels. Oh and if we've got more open buildings allow us to do stuff in them like sit down and/or watch their TV, steal food or shoot up the place.

 

 

Plus if we set the place on fire and they've got a fire alarm let it go off please? I can see it as a convenient way to get a fire engine.

So that means they can have a LC two times bigger, and no, not just copy-pasted, but with the very same detail/variety in buildings (and that is without the story, weapons, other textures, engine, and a whole sh*tload of other stuff. hell, I think they can even make LC 3-4 X bigger with detail)

Or we can look at SA. BRD are twice as big as DVD's, so now imagine a map 3-4 times bigger (say, add LS with SF, times 2, and that is LS in V, and 2 times LV would be an additional city. plus 2 times the country side.) with the detail of GTA IV (that was also on one DVD)

I'd like to think you're right but I don't have enough knowledge on the technical aspect of making a huge detailed map on a current gen console. I do have faith that rockstar will deliver something great though

Yeah I think the amount of enter-able buildings, and the amount of interest in these buildings (those apartment buildings in 4 were boring), needs to be increased.
